Lab Access Policy
Project Overview
Lab Access Policy is an original student-made animated short currently in pre-production. I'm creating this project on my own, and will be working on it for at least the next 3 months, however I need the dialogue to be recorded in the next couple weeks (at the latest). The script is done and ready to record!
SYNOPSIS:
Late at night in a research lab, Dr. Varga carefully monitors a fragile experiment: a star contained in glass. She’s interrupted by Dr. Bell, a younger scientist eager to take advantage of the lab’s new, more permissive access rules. What begins as a debate over policy quickly reveals a more personal divide. When their conflict causes the star to destabilize, Varga panics and warns Bell not to interfere, but he doesn’t listen, briefly stabilizing it before everything explodes. For a fleeting moment, the two float weightless in the wreckage as papers and wires drift around them like living constellations. The star implodes again, disappearing into electrical components and dropping everything in the room. The lab is destroyed, and Varga and Bell will inevitably have to pick up the pieces.

Dr. Varga is a tired physicist in her late 40s working in a corporate, neglected lab. In this short film, she talks with a silly, self-satisfied coworker, who amuses and frustrates her before disaster strikes.

Just a silly guy. Dr. Bell works in a dingy lab that his family has funded. He knows he's gotten to where he is through nepotism, and uses his lack of shame to jokingly torment his older coworker. (But under the surface, he really does want to learn.)
