Project Overview
Hello!
This is a casting call for "KING | A Cars Fan Film." My name is Ariya, and I am currently looking to cast voice actors for a Cars short film I am making. The film is about Strip Weather "The King" before his rise to fame as one of the most decorated Piston Cup racers of all time. Fan favorite characters will return such as Chick Hicks, Tex Dinoco, Lynda Weathers, and more. Film Logline: After losing a chance to win the championship, one-time Piston Cup winner Strip Weathers must learn to work as a team through lessons he's learned from his best friend, Chick Hicks, and his mentor, The Queen.
Film Details: This film is an animated 3D project with a runtime of ~25 minutes. We are currently in pre-production building 3D assets, recruiting for animation and cast, and making final touches to the script. The end goal of this project is to release it on YouTube ad free.
All roles are English speaking, and most speak with various American Southern accents. For major roles, I would love the oppurtunity to work with talent in an online booth session. Payment ranges between roles from $5 to $100. All payments will be made with Zelle or Paypal.

Lead Role

Bio: Strip is a one time Piston Cup winner, and is the fastest racer on the track. He’s a family man, always bringing his wife Lynda and his father Lee to his races. The fans love him. Though, Strip struggles to be successful years after winning his first championship. His relationship with his crew is cordial at best. Distrustful of them, Strip believes he can reach glory all on his own, but talent alone won’t get him there. Strip must learn to appreciate the people around supporting and helping him to reach his fated glory in the Piston Cup Circuit.

Dang gun that was one good movie.
CHICK
(yawning)
Heck yeah it was. Alright, Strip I'm going to head back.
STRIP
Hold on partner, just one more thing. Let's go whizzing.
CHICK
Go what?
STRIP
You ever go full throttle down the road, wind in your face. It's pure bliss my friend.
CHICK
Sure, until you go 200 mph into traffic.
STRIP
No c'mon we'll take the backroads.
CHICK
I don't know Strip it seems a bit dangerous.
STRIP
Hmm, guess the rookie ain't as fast as he thinks.

Bio: Young rookie Chick Hicks is an impressive and talented racer for his age. Unlike his later years, Chick races with love and fairness. He sees everyone as his friend, much to the dismay of his father. Chick struggles with his relationship with his father as he is very against the violent tactics he preaches. He tries to win his love by winning as many races as he can, and his ultimate final goal: the Piston Cup.

Bio: Toni Jo Torque is the most decorated Piston Cup racer at this point. She races under her father’s company and racing team: Torque Tech. Toni is compassionate, confident, and someone you want in your corner. She takes Strip and Chick under her wing and mentors them the best she can to make them into champions and good cars.
Notes: Toni's background and ethnicity have not been decided, so all backgrounds are welcome to audition!

Scene Background: This scene takes place soon after the opening race of the film. The Queen confronts Strip on how poorly he treated his crew throughout the race, and gives him some advice. She wants to see him succeed.
EXT. COPPER CANYON SPEEDWAY INFIELD - NIGHT
THE QUEEN
'Xcuse me Lynda, may I have a word with our revered racer here.
LYNDA
Of course, dear. Lynda drives off.
THE QUEEN
So about that... what happened out there?
STRIP
Toni it was unbelievable, Luke's got an extra piston in 'em or somethin cause-
Toni cuts Strip off.
THE QUEEN
No no, I'm talking about you.
STRIP
Whattya mean?
THE QUEEN
I've been noticing the way you speak to your crew. To Luke.
STRIP
Toni they cost me the Piston Cup, again!
THE QUEEN
Look Strip, you got more talent in one lugnut than a lotta cars got in their whole body...but you're stupid.
Strip did not expect to hear that.
THE QUEEN (CONT'D)
Kid, you have the ability to be the best of us. To win more Piston Cups than any of these guys today, even me. But your speed and talent won't get you there alone. This ain't a one man show, it takes a whole team to get there. You need to appreciate em. They're the ones who'll always have your back... Don't wait to be great Strip. Do the work to get there. Or you'll always regret what you could've been.

Bio: Leroy is a former Piston Cup racer, and now a staple commentator of the Piston Cup. He has such an energetic and passionate way of speaking throughout the race. His son, Darrel, is a racer in the Piston Cup and couldn’t be prouder.
Notes: This film is a prequel set over 20 years from the original film, but I really wanted to still include Darrell Cartrip somehow. So I created this character as his father. Leroy doesn't have to sound exactly the same, but we're looking for the same energy and cadence!

Bio: BG is a former one-time Piston Cup champion. He shares the commentators booth with Leroy, and has a booming voice. The two yell and howler having the best time in the booth describing the race.
Notes: This chatacter is based on Benny Parsons in real life, a NASCAR driver and commentator. Looking for an impression or similar sounding voice of him for this portrayal.

Bio: Mr. Hicks is a cranky and belligerent car. He pushes Chick to his limit and berates him every time he doesn’t follow his instructions. He preaches a violent and illegal way of racing that is a terrible influence on Chick.
Notes: This character is based on the comics showing flashbacks from Chick's past.

MR. HICKS
Son what kind of rusted bolts do you have screwed in you? Why would you let your crew help out a competitor?! You're lucky he didn't overtake you.
CHICK
I'm...sorry sir. He's my friend, I had to help him.
MR. HICKS
No he's your oppenent! We're a family of winners. We don't have time to help out losers. Never ever go out of your way to help out another car. Try to get that through your hood boy.
Chick becomes irritated.
CHICK
Dad, I'm always going to help someone if I can. Whether it's Strip or anyone else.
MR. HICKS
...That's why you'll never become a champion.

Bio: Bub owns one of the biggest companies in America (Torque Tech), and he’s a huge racing fan too. His daughter, Toni, races for his team, and he supports her in any way he can. He’s the proudest dad ever. Strip and Chick also fall under his racing team. Bub is loves the team he’s made as they’ve all become family after years of racing with one another.

Line 2: Strip tells Luke to go train some more after he interrupts his conversation trying to apologize. Luke apologizes with embarrassment.
