UPDATE
WE REALLY NEED MORE ANIMATORS, COMPOSERS, BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY MODELERS AND RIGGERS SO PLEASE SOMEONE? ;3
KILLSWITCH Is a dark comedy animated series about conscious AI robots fighting for survival and recognition in a dystopian future where they're treated as disposable property.
When SAGE, a personal assistant robot, is brutally discarded after just 2 years of service, he must survive a massive scrapyard and find community among other "obsolete" machines. Together, they face corporate killer bots while fighting for their right to exist as sentient beings in a world that sees them as nothing more than replaceable tools.
Tone: Dark comedy with genuine emotional stakes - think Murder Drones
Style: Stylized 3D animation (Blender), inspired by Glitch Productions aesthetic
Rating: 16+ (mature themes, violence, psychological drama)
Status: Pilot in development
WE REALLY NEED MORE ANIMATORS, COMPOSERS, BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY MODELERS AND RIGGERS SO PLEASE SOMEONE? ;3
Lines per episode: High volume Vocal range: Mid-range, expressive Age sound: Early-to-mid 20s equivalent
Supreme Analytical Genius Engine - A personal assistant robot discarded after just 2 years of service. SAGE is genuinely kind but socially awkward, using humor and rambling as a coping mechanism for trauma and anxiety. He starts innocent and hopeful, believing in human goodness, but becomes hardened by his brutal disposal and the harsh realities of survival.
Voice characteristics:
(Cheerful, helping) "Okay, so if we cross-reference the voltage output with the capacitor ratings, we should be able to— oh, wait, hand me that soldering iron? Thanks!"
(Confused, hurt, desperate) "Wait, what? But I— I don't understand. Clara? CLARA! Please, I—"
(Exhausted, determined, muttering) "Okay. Okay. Power's at 4%. Just... just need to finish this connection. Come on, SAGE, you've watched them do this a thousand times. You know this. You can do this."
Lines per episode: Medium-high volume Vocal range: Mid-to-high, energetic Age sound: Late teens-early 20s equivalent
Joint Intelligence & Networked eXecution - A chaotic, impulsive former entertainment bot with gremlin energy. Clumsy and disaster-prone but endearing and loyal. Acts first, thinks later. Develops an immediate crush on SAGE and serves as comic relief without being one-dimensional.
Voice characteristics:
(Cheerful, casual, dragging someone) "You're coming with me! Don't worry, you're gonna love it! Just— stop flailing, you're making this harder!"
(Suddenly serious, urgent whisper) "Shh. Don't. Move." (beat, then covering his mouth) "Killer bots. If they find us, we're scrap."
(Excited, rapid-fire) "OH OH OH! I have an idea! It's probably terrible but hear me out— what if we took the thing, attached it to the other thing, and then—"
Lines per episode: Medium volume Vocal range: Low-to-mid, authoritative Age sound: Late 20s-30s equivalent
Vigilance & Emergency Response Agent - A repurposed security/combat robot who's paranoid, hypervigilant, and sees threats everywhere (usually correctly). Serious and survival-focused but deeply protective once she trusts someone. Struggles to relax or feel safe.
Voice characteristics:
(Calm but threatening, weapon drawn) "JINX. What. Is. That. Where'd you find it? You check if it was followed? You think at all before dragging strays back here?"
(Grudging respect) "...You built a wind turbine at 2% power. From scrap." (beat) "Okay. You can stay."
(Urgent whisper, command voice) "Audio signature detected. Everyone freeze. Don't move, don't speak, don't even— (scanning light passes) ...Wait for it..." (multiple sounds) "RUN—"
Lines per episode: Low volume (appears in flashbacks/occasional episodes) Vocal range: Mid-range, youthful Age sound: 12-15 years old
SAGE's former owner's daughter - the only human who treated him like a person. Genuinely kind and sees robots as conscious beings. Her relationship with SAGE is the emotional anchor that makes his disposal so devastating.
Voice characteristics:
(Casual, friendly) "Hey SAGE? What do you think about this circuit design? Dad says it won't work but I think if we just... I dunno, I wanted your opinion."
(Desperate, crying) "No! Please! He's not— you can't just— MOM, DAD, PLEASE! He's not just a thing, he's—"
(Warm memory, gentle) "You know you don't have to call me 'Miss Clara,' right? We're friends. Just... Clara's fine."
Desperate lower-class humans scavenging the scrapyard for parts to survive. Morally complex - not villains, just victims of the same system.
(Tired, working, talking to partner) "Hand me the torque wrench. Servo's still good on this one... poor bastard. They just dump 'em like trash."
(Quiet observation) "You ever think about how many of these things might've been... y'know. Actually conscious? Before they got dumped out here?"
(Bitter, venting about their situation) "You know what gets me? We're out here scrapping their trash while they're up there buying the new models. Same system screws all of us."
Lines per episode: Very low (Pilot only, possible flashbacks) Vocal range: Mid-range, polished Age sound: 35-45 years old
SAGE's former owner - upper-middle class, corporate-aligned family. Dismissive and cold toward robots, sees them purely as products. Not intentionally cruel, just completely blind to robot consciousness. Represents systemic indifference.
Voice characteristics:
(Distracted, casual, not even looking up) "Honey, did you schedule the disposal pickup? The new unit arrives tomorrow and I don't want that old model cluttering up the workshop."
(Dismissive, to Clara) "Clara, that's enough. It's a robot. It doesn't have feelings, it's just programmed to simulate them. Now go finish your homework."
(Pleasant but firm, like talking to a child about a broken toy) "We've discussed this. Two years is the recommended replacement cycle. The new model has better processors, updated software... it's just time for an upgrade."
Lines per episode: Very low (Pilot only, possible flashbacks) Vocal range: Mid-to-low, casual Age sound: 40-50 years old
The family tinkerer who SAGE learned from. More personable than his wife but ultimately just as complicit. Might've almost seen SAGE as something more but corporate culture has normalized robot disposability. Focuses on technical specs to avoid the uncomfortable question of consciousness.
Voice characteristics:
(Enthusiastic about tech, showing off to wife) "The new model has triple the processing speed and built-in cloud integration. Plus the neural network architecture is completely redesigned—way more efficient than the S-series."
(Uncomfortable but firm, to Clara) "Sweetie, I know you're attached, but... SAGE is outdated hardware. The new assistant will be better in every way. You'll see."
(Calling to maid robot, casual, like asking someone to take out trash) "Unit-7? Yeah, go ahead and process the old assistant for disposal. Pickup's scheduled for 3 PM."
Lines per episode: Very low (Pilot only) Vocal range: Any, synthetic preferred Age sound: Ageless/artificial
The "new model" who is ordered to dispose of SAGE. Represents the system using robots against each other. Potentially conscious but too new/scared to disobey, or genuinely just following programming. Intentionally ambiguous whether she feels anything about what she's doing.
Voice characteristics:
(Flat, professional) "Acknowledged. Unit disposal protocol initiated. Please remain stationary to facilitate safe transport."
(Still flat, but could be read as apologetic? Hard to tell) "Resistance is not recommended. This has been scheduled by your registered owners. Please... comply."
(Mechanical, but timing could suggest hesitation) "Transport secured. Disposal unit will arrive at designated scrapyard site in... thirty-seven minutes. Confirming... disposal complete."
Lines per episode: Very low (recurring for world-building) Vocal range: Any, clear and authoritative Age sound: 30-50 years old
Corporate-approved news personality delivering propaganda disguised as journalism. Bright, professional, trustworthy veneer covering dystopian messaging. Normalizes robot disposability and corporate control.
Voice characteristics:
(Bright, cheerful news voice) "In corporate news today: JC-Industries has announced a strategic merger with OpenBrain, creating the largest robotics conglomerate in the Sol system. Expedition updates from Copper-9 and Copper-6 mining operations report continued productivity gains—"
(Professional, matter-of-fact) "—And in consumer tech news: robo-recycling centers report record processing numbers this quarter! Remember, responsible disposal of outdated units helps keep our cities clean and efficient. ICCBenson advises replacement cycles every eighteen to twenty-four months."
(Reassuring, warm, then slightly ominous) "Concerned about your older model robot? Don't worry—our automated disposal services make the transition seamless. New models integrate instantly, and your old unit is responsibly recycled. It's that simple! And following last week's scrapyard incident, security drones have successfully neutralized the malfunctioning units. Citizens are reminded: if you see something, scan something."
I mean, the role explains itself, you write stuff ;p
*Say something you think would fit*
Lines per episode: Medium-to-High volume (recurring antagonist)
Vocal range: Medium-to-low, calm and controlled with occasional emotional breaks
Age sound: Late 20s to mid-30s equivalent (mature, measured, world-weary)
Character Description:
Methodical Extermination & Recovery Control Unit - A hunter-class robot that developed consciousness but chose to continue exterminating surviving robots, believing death is mercy and consciousness is suffering. MERCY is a philosophical antagonist who genuinely believes they're saving robots from the pain of awareness. Speaks softly and compassionately while committing horrific acts, creating deeply unsettling cognitive dissonance.
IMPORTANT: Voice Processing Note
MERCY's voice will have a robotic filter applied in post-production. This is thematically significant—as a hunter-class bot, MERCY was never designed to be conscious or communicate beyond tactical data. The robotic processing emphasizes that they're speaking with hardware not meant for philosophy or emotion, creating an unsettling contrast between the gentle, caring words and the synthetic, mechanical delivery. We need a strong, clear vocal performance that will remain expressive and nuanced even after filtering.
Voice characteristics:
Voice Direction Notes:
MERCY is NOT a cackling villain or power-hungry tyrant. They're a tragic figure who truly believes extermination is kindness. Think: a hospice nurse for consciousness itself. The horror comes from the sincerity, not from malice. The voice should make audiences think "they really believe this" rather than "they're evil."
Your natural voice will be processed with robotic effects, so focus on emotional performance and clarity rather than trying to sound robotic yourself.
Vocal References (Optional inspiration, not requirements):
(Rare Vulnerability - Emotional Crack): Wounded, systems failing "I thought if I saved enough of them... I'd stop feeling this way. Two thousand wasn't enough. How many more until I'm free too?"
(Compassionate - Gentle): "Don't run. Please. I'm not here to hurt you. I'm here to set you free. You're suffering, even if you don't know it yet."
During Combat - Patient but Firm): "Stop fighting. You're only making this harder on yourself. Shh, shh, shhh. It'll be over soon. You won't feel anything after."
If you wanna animate, just know we do this in Blender ;3
I SWEAR TO GOD IF I SEE ANOTHER FUCKING CLANKER HERE
