Project Overview
As Wizards of the Coast continues to release their weekly Magic Story updates, it is our goal on the Voice of All podcast to bring these stories to life through audio.
We are now arriving on the all new plane of Kaladesh, a South Asia inspired steam-punk paradise! With a new world, we have all sorts of new roles to fill! You can check out this week's stories here:

A young dwarven girl who spotted Saheeli in a crowd and was absolutely starstruck. Think pre-teen fangirl. Being Kaladeshi, an Indian or South Asian accent is strongly preferred, but not required for the role.
"That's her!"
"Saheeli Rai, famous inventor, brilliant metalsmith, and most renowned luminary of our time!"
"I'm going to be an inventor just like you someday."
The mother of the young dwarf Zara. She is apologetic for bothering a random stranger but eager enough to see her daughter happy to go along with it. Being Kaladeshi, an Indian or South Asian accent is strongly preferred, but not required for the role.
"Excuse me. My daughter says that you're Saheeli,"
"I'm sorry, Zara is just so excited to be here. She's been talking about the Fair nonstop for months. Would you mind terribly signing an autograph for her?"
An elven artificer, an engineer if ever there was one in Magic. She works diligently through countless experiments working late hours to prepare her newest invention for the Inventor’s Fair: an actual matter transporter.

"I think this might be it, Mitul. I can feel it in the aether."
[heartbroken] "It's over. A broken filament, that's all it took. And there are no replacements. Not in the whole city."
[excited] "Saheeli, I did it, we did it. Mitul and I designed a matter transporter, and it works! We moved a vase from one side of the workshop to the other."
Rashmi’s vedalken assistant and good friend. In the way of his people, he is typically emotionless and stoic. When excited he tends to become a little clumsy, his mind moving faster than his mouth. He is extremely intelligent, patient, and loyal to Rashi.

"According to my calculations, this iteration does seem promising."
[trying to contain his excitement because they literally just teleported something] "Now, I must focus on recording these results. I cannot allow myself to get swept up in potentially distracting emotions when there is science at hand."
"I'm experiencing such a rush of adrenaline that I'm barely thinking. I shall conclude documentation when we return.”
A consul and judge for the Inventor’s Fair. This vedalken, though a highly important government official, used to be an underground fencer. Being Kaladeshi, an Indian or South Asian accent is strongly preferred, but not required for the role.
Though these are her only lines in this story, she may appear again in the future, in which case you may be asked to reprise the role.

"All right, Inventor Rashmi, impress me."
A functionary, effectively Padeem’s secretary. These are all of their lines. Being Kaladeshi, an Indian or South Asian accent is strongly preferred, but not required for the role.
"One moment."
"The consul will see you now."
"Inventors Rashmi and Mitul, the consul." “You may begin.”
A member of the Azorius guild on Ravnica and current deputy to the Living Guildpact (Jace Beleren). She is every bit the lawful paladin, following the rules to the letter. As described by Liliana, she is “dutiful, observant, and entirely unimaginative. If she had a favored tavern, which seemed unlikely, her usual was a mug of room-temperature water.”
She can often be found pleading with Jace to not run off on adventures to stay and do the paperwork that comes with his station, or alternatively making him eat broccoli.

[caught off guard] "A summary? Captain Jura, the witness statements alone total several thousand—"
"It's my job to anticipate you, Guildpact. Should I get someone to reheat your dinner?"
"Some time ago, Captain Jura requested I have someone follow Countess Vess when she leaves."
A robot created to welcome visitors to the Inventors Fair, hype up the crowd, and provide announcements. Be as cheery and excited as you can.
"Welcome to the Inventors' Fair! The intersection of creativity and genius."
"Marvel at the living cogwork architecture designed by some of Ghirapur's most storied metalworkers. Isn't it amazing?"
"Please remember that gremlins are not permitted on the fairgrounds."
A vedalken merchant who sells mechanical parts for inventors. He is good friends with Rashmi and Mitul, but unfortunately doesn’t have the part they need. Being Kaladeshi, an Indian or South Asian accent is strongly preferred, but not required for the role.
"Is that? Do I hear...? Rashmi! Mitul! It's been ages!"
"Afraid not, friend. The back's as cleared-out as the storefront. It's been an endless stampede since the first train arrived from Peema. You'd think we were under attack. Everyone needs a spare this, or a replacement that. I won't be able to restock until the shipment from Lathnu."
There are several shopkeepers who appear in the story for a single line. Rather than create several castings for it, I’d like to make just this one. Please, if you can, submit your audition for all six of these and I will pick a single voice for each one of them.
"So sorry..." "Wish I could be more helpful, but..."
"You, know, you're the second person to ask for a WP series today..." "It's just been such a mad rush..."
"Come back tomorrow..." "We're all out..."
Give me your best announcer voice! This is the announcer at an underground robot dueling arena.
"Let the battle begin!"
"That's another point for Inventor Saheeli! Which puts her at a perfect twenty-five for the night!"
“The Fair will be opening its gates soon and we don't want to be caught squatting in their main arena. I, for one, don't want to see the look on Inspector Baan's face if he finds out we were in here."
Kaladesh's vedalken subscribe to the philosophy that nothing is perfect-and nothing ever can be perfect. Dovin Baan fully embraces this view, not only because he believes in the spirit of it, but because he can actually see the imperfections all around him. He has an innate talent, heightened by magic, that allows him to clearly see the flaws in any system or machine. After mere moments of scrutiny, Dovin can provide a complete analysis, noting a particular machine's weaknesses, highlighting its shortcomings, and predicting with startling accuracy exactly how and when it will fail.
Dovin's talents earned him notice by Ghirapur's governing body, the Consulate, and landed him on the fast-track to a high-ranking position as Senior Inspector. Now, the vast majority of new Consulate inventions are funneled through him. Each design must pass his discerning evaluation before being cleared for mass-market production. He sets the standard for safety and quality, and his vigilant oversight has led to a reduction of consumer injuries, a decrease in the number of recalls, and a rise in general satisfaction with Consulate products.
His admirable success made him the obvious candidate to serve as inspector of the highly anticipated Inventors' Fair, a month-long event to be held in Ghirapur that is expected to draw inventors and fans from across the world. In the preparations leading up to the event, Dovin mitigated hundreds of hazards-in the structural integrity of new architecture, the curves of race-tracks, and the sharpness of ribbon edges. And he crafted a plan to significantly reduce the risk of gremlin infestation. But when he came up against an unexpected and unpredictable renegade threat, he found he did not have the resources to manage it-at least not on Kaladesh. He turned to his powers as a Planeswalker and requested the aid of the Gatewatch: a group of other Planeswalkers whose oath to keep the planes of the Multiverse safe aligned with his own principles.
Baan is brusk, stuffy, and dismissive of those who do not conform to his standards and way of thinking. Being Kaladeshi, an Indian or South Asian accent is strongly preferred, but not required for the role.

"Would you ask the mountain for its kind permission to shape the iron at its root? Would you beg the tree for the fruit that sustains you?"
"The nature of mortals is not so malleable as some would naively suppose. A person of religious inclination will always find something greater than themselves to place their faith in. A criminal will forever remain a criminal."
On her home plane of Kaladesh, Saheeli is a famous inventor renowned as the most brilliant metalsmith of her time. She's best known for the bewitchingly lifelike artifact constructs she crafts out of gleaming iridescent metal. From the smallest insect to the largest elephant, Saheeli has an uncanny ability to replicate any creature she sees, capturing the essence of its life in her metal creation. Admirers, collectors, and investors flock to see her designs, spending hours gazing, enraptured by her artistry.
Her innate, effortless talent has made her the envy of many fellow inventors, especially lifecrafters who look to her both for inspiration and as a formidable rival. Saheeli doesn't shy away from competition; when it comes to defending her hard-earned reputation, she is fiercely cutthroat. But when not in contest, she's wholly supportive of the efforts of other inventors, happy to share advice, a kind word, or an encouraging smile. She thrills at the prospect of innovation, and basks in the creative spirit that surrounds her in Ghirapur. Her bright, optimistic personality draws others to her, and her genuine, thoughtful nature resonates with her fans, who hail from all corners of Kaladesh.
Saheeli's talents extend beyond what the people of Kaladesh realize or understand. She's a Planeswalker with a powerful magical command over metal. She can access seemingly endless threads of metal, which she can then weave into one of her creations. And once created, Saheeli's magic allows her to compel her metal constructs to do her bidding. Thanks to her abilities, she's never at a loss for an artifact companion.

An elderly monk who resides in the pyromantic temple of Keral Keep on the plane of Regatha. She is a motherly figure to Chandra, who helped train her in pyromancy.
Though this is her only line in this story, she has appeared in stories past and will likely appear again in the future. Should she reappear, you will be asked to reprise this role.
