WE STILL URGENTLY NEED WRITERS
hello everyone! we are still urgently looking for ACTIVE writers for this project!! It's important so we can get ahead of episodes
Hello! This is the official project description for Joy of Life!
Joy of Life is a long term Sims 4 series that mixes gameplay and machinima. I rotate between cinematic episodes and let’s play style content because it feels more immersive and allows the story to unfold naturally. The gameplay builds the world, and the machinima delivers the structured narrative.
The machinima portion is character driven and grounded. It has slice of life drama energy similar to Degrassi (or at least we are going for a less dramatic version of Degrasssi), especially since this is built on a legacy challenge. The story is meant to grow across seasons and generations, not just a few episodes.
This is for every episode moving forward. This is a long term project.
Right now we are projecting 8 episodes for Season 1.
I handle the animation and 3D work myself. I am currently finishing up writing and filming the first episodes, and once those are locked in, the creative team will help shape future episodes. I have long term plans and character arcs mapped out, but there is so much room for creative expression! Most of my ideas are just rough and vague, I want everyone to be able to put a piece of them into it somehow.
I want this to feel like a team effort while still keeping direction centralized so the story stays cohesive. We prefer 18+, but will consider 16+ if you are serious and looking to build your portfolio. Do not be afraid to try.
We also plan to release special content and bonus episodes on Patreon. If the Patreon becomes profitable, the goal is to pay members of the creative team. Transparency will always be maintained.
This is a passion project with long term growth in mind.
If you are applying for anything creative, please make sure your submission is clear and coherent.

Hello! Since we have started production I have noticed we have grown a bit overwhelmed in terms of writing episodes. So we have decided to look for 2-3 more writers to add to our team. We are in need of strong support on the story side, especially with the episode planning and structure.

Helping create character breakdowns for voice actors
Maintaining tone and character consistency
We have bi weekly meetings every Friday, usually later at night to accommodate work schedules.
Long term character arc and final creative decisions will remain with me to make sure we have a clear solid direction. This is collaborative, but direction will stay centralized.
Looking for Someone Who:
Understands story structure and pacing
Can be keep an unbiased outlook on characters
Can breakdown episodes clearly ( not just write dialogue )
The ability to write grounding, natural dialogue

Hello! As we move further into production, I am looking for 2 Video Editors to join the Joy of Life team. Ideally you it would be 'one editor does an episode, then another does the other' to help with workload, but you both would be working together and can figure out whatever works best!
What You'd Be Doing
- Assembling episodes from provided Sims footage
- Syncing voice lines cleanly
- Managing pacing and transitions
- Basic color correction (if needed)
- Exporting final cuts on deadline
We have bi weekly meetings every Friday, usually later at night to accommodate work schedules. This is usually 9PM EST.
Looking For Someone Who:
- Understands pacing and storytelling through editing
- Is detail oriented
- Can meet deadlines consistently
- Communicates clearly about progress
- Consistency > flashy editing.
To apply:
- A short sample of past editing work, demo reel, something of the sorts (YouTube link is fine)
