John Cena: A Meme Too Far (A Garry's Mod Short Film)

Project Overview

'John Cena: A Meme Too Far', is a short film (approx 18mins) created within the video game Garry's Mod. It acts as a precursor to our larger project, John Cena 2; and it explains & sets up a lot of the plot for that film. 

It follows a fictional version of John Cena on the run from the US government thanks to the cloning experiments  used to create his daughter Joan. 

He flees to the Ural mountains, seeking refuge in a castle once owned by his late great uncle, whereupon he rescues a young astrophotographer, Billie Swann, who crashed their van whilst attempting to get a better vantage point for photos. 

The pair are pursued by a CIA team led by Agent Grant Mackenzie to the castle, where they encounter John's long lost 2nd Cousin, Vanessa Lupien, who isn't happy to have them, and then the CIA, intrude into her home.

 Once he confronts Mackenzie & his partner, Agent Jones, John flees to a small soviet town, home of his old Chemical Engineering Professor, where he meets Kaleena Oleska, an unamused landlord who permits John into his professor's flat, where he is found dead. John searches through his emails, and finds the culprit, the villainous McGougan.

McGougan and John have an eerily calm confortation, until the antagonist lets loose that he orchestred all of the bad things that happened to John throughout the movie, and launches a nuclear weapon into the atmosphere.

And that's it! Once this short is complete, the sequel will be released soon after, as it has already been shot and editied, so we're not left on a cliffhanger for too long!

    I just wanted to say thank you all so very much for being a part of this project, I'm blown away by the positive response we've goten from the movie, and you all did such a fantasic job of being in it! A reminder that we've got the second episode scheduled to go up this sunday at the same time (7PMBST/2PMEST), but of course I understand that less of you are in this one, so no hard feelings if you're not intested in watching it!   • Update #1

    Hey gang! Just wanted to give everyone a little update, so hopefully this does just that! We are still awaitng voice work for a few key roles due to some actors leaving the project, and while I did have backups booked for an in person recording session next week, I've fallen rather ill and thus had to cancel those. I've contacted a few other VAs since, but I'm yet to hear back from them. The good news is that everything else about the film is complete, so we can release it as soon as we get the lines, and then of course the sequel shortly thereafter. Excitingly, we've also started working on a third John Cena project, with plans to tell the story over a 5 part webseries (of which A Meme Too Far & John Cena 2 are the 1st and 2nd installments respectively), so keep your eyes peeled for that! I just want to thank everyone again for your amazing contributions to this project, and your patience awaiting its release; it's been really fantastic to work with everyone, and I'm stoked to see what happens next!
