Joey Drew Studios
Project Overview
In 1931, Joey Drew and Henry Stein founded 'Joey Drew Studios', where they made the popular cartoons starring their mascot, 'Bendy'. Though they make cartoons for all to enjoy, not everything is as it seems. Behind the studio's doors, Joey's desires for fame continue to grow, which causes him and those around him to be consumed by the looming darkness.
Based off of the horror game, 'Bendy and the Ink Machine'.

Thank you everyone. It was a really tough decision to make, because we had received so many good auditions from very talented voice actors. If any of you are in the cast, I will be sending you the link to the 'Joey Drew Studios' Discord page. This way, we will be able to stay in touch and communicate with each other. Thank you all for auditioning. -

Joey Drew is the founder of Joey Drew Studios. At first, Joey seems kind and inspiring. But soon enough, he proves to be a bit controlling and manipulative. Joey appears to desire fame and power, and will go to great lengths to make his dreams become reality. But his dark desires may just be his undoing.
Must include a singing audition as well.
"There's nothing wrong with dreaming. Wishing for the impossible is just human nature. That's how I got it started. Just a pencil and a dream. We all want everything without even having to lift a finger. They say you just have to believe. Belief can make you succeed. Belief can make you rich. Belief can make you powerful. Why with enough belief, you can even cheat death itself. Now that... is a beautiful, and positively silly thought."
"I believe there's something special in all of us. With true inner strength, you can conquer even your biggest challenges. You just have to believe in yourself and remain honest, motivated, and above all, who you really are. Ok, let's stop it right there. I can only do so many takes of this trash a day. And tell the guys in writing I want more use of the word dreaming in every message. Keep railing on that, get it? Dreaming! Dreaming! Dreaming! People just eat up that kind of slop. Hmm what? It's still on? Well, turn it off, damn it!"
"I know how much this part means to ya, Susie. Alice means a lot to me too. Gosh, all of my characters do! In fact, I'll let you in on a little secret. I too really believe my characters are more than just drawings. They're alive. They're part of us. And I want people to know them as well as I do. I want people to be able to shake their hand, spend an afternoon with 'em. Love them. Susie, I'll be straight with you. I'm putting together a small project... a little ceremony if you will. If it works, a lot of dreams will come true. And I want you to be a part of it. ...I want you to bring Alice to life once again. What do ya say?"
Henry Stein is the co-founder of Joey Drew Studios. Joey is a kind-hearted man who also has many ideas and dreams as well. But unlike Joey, Henry does not go to the extreme to make them a reality. Henry tries to keep Joey on the right path, all the while enduring his emotional and mental abuse. Henry is forced to stay behind-the-scenes as Joey takes credit for all of his ideas. But just how much of it can Henry take?
Must also include singing audition.
"Alright, Joey. I'm here. Let's see if we can find what you wanted me to see."
"Only two weeks into this company, and already its gotten interesting. Joey is a man of ideas, and only ideas. When I agreed to start this whole thing with him, I though there'd be a little more give and take. Instead I give, and he takes. I haven't even seen Linda for days now. Still, someone has to make this happen. When in doubt, just keep drawing Henry. On the plus side, I got a new character I think people are going to love."
I can’t believe we’ve made it this far. All our hard work really paid off.
Sammy Lawrence is music director for Joey Drew Studios. Sammy can be a bit grumpy, and does not like to write music for silly cartoons. But because times are tough, Sammy has no choice but to endure writing silly music. He develops feelings for Susie Campbell, the voice actress for 'Alice Angel', but has a difficult time telling her. Sammy does not like Joey because of the hectic work environment that he is placed in, but is forced to tolerate him. But as dark forces spread throughout the studio, Sammy grows mad and begins to lose touch with reality.
Must include a singing audition.
"So first Joey installs this Ink Machine over our heads. Then it begins to leak. Three times last month, we couldn't even get out of our department because the ink had flooded the stairwell. Joey's solution? An ink pump to drain it periodically. Now I have this ugly pump switch right in my office. People in and out all day. Thanks, Joey. Just what I needed. More distractions. These stupid cartoon songs don't write themselves, you know."
"He appears from the shadows to rain his sweet blessings upon me. The figure of ink that shines in the darkness. I see you, my savior. I pray you hear me. Those old songs, yes, I still sing them. For I know you are coming to save me. And I will be swept into your final loving embrace. But, love requires sacrifice. Can I get an amen?"
" BETRAYED!!! ABANDONED!!! I trusted you! I gave you everything....and you left me to rot! ...Why? WHY!? "
Susie Campbell is the first voice actress for the character, 'Alice Angel'. Susie was, at first, voicing background characters. But after being chosen to voice a new character, Alice Angel, she begins to feel a strong connection with the character. She becomes infatuated with Joey Drew, and even goes on dates with him...but she is oblivious to Sammy's feelings for her. At first, Susie is a sweet and innocent girl with hopes and dreams. But after being replaced by Allison Pendle without being told, Susie becomes angry and vengeful towards everyone in the studio...even those who had nothing to do with her being replaced. She soon delves deeper into insanity, wanting nothing more than to be Alice Angel again.
Must include singing audition.
"It may only be my second month working for Joey Drew, but I can already tell I'm gonna love it here! People really seem to enjoy my Alice Angel voice. Sammy says she may be as popular as Bendy some day. These past few weeks I have voiced everything from talking chairs to dancing chickens. But this is the first character I really felt a connection with. Like she's a part of me. Alice and I, we are going places."
"Everything feels like it's coming apart. When I walked into the recording booth today, Sammy was there with that... Allison. Apparently, I didn't get the memo. Alice Angel will now be voiced by Miss Allison Pendle. A part of me died when he said that. There's gotta be a way to fix this!"
"They told me I was perfect for the role. Absolutely perfect. Now Joey's going around saying things behind closed doors. I can always tell. Now he wants to meet again tomorrow, says he has an "opportunity" for me. I'll hear him out. But if that smooth talker thinks he can double cross an angel and get away with it, well, oh he's got another thing coming. Alice, ooh she doesn't like liars."
Wally Franks works as the janitor at Joey Drew Studios. Wally is a young man who spends his days cleaning the studio and watching the creation of the Bendy cartoons. Though he is, at first, not seen as important, Wally ends up unknowingly helping Joey into creating the Ink Machine. Wally can be a bit lazy at times, but he has a good hard, and is more intelligent than others might think. He is often partnered up with Thomas Connor, and is friendly towards others.
Must include singing audition.
"At this point, I don't get what Joey's plan is for this company. The animations sure aren't being finished on time anymore, and I certainly don't see why we need this...machine. It's noisy, it's messy, and who needs that much ink anyway? Also, get this: Joey had each one of us "donate" something from our work stations. We put them on these little pedestals in the break room. "To help appease the gods", Joey says. "Keep things going". I think he's lost his mind, but, hey, he writes the checks. But I tell you what, if one more of these pipes burst, I'm outta here."
"I don't get it. Everyone's walking around here like grandma just died. Nothing but angry faces everywhere. These people gotta lighten up. I mean, hello! You make cartoons! Your job is to make people laugh. I'm tellin' ya. If these people don't start crackin' a smile every now and then, I'm outta here."
"These guys down at the warehouse get to play games all day while I'm stuck cleaning up after 'em. They keep locking themselves out of their own back room. So I says to 'em, "look guys", I says, "you're smart, right? Here's an idea! Why not rig these games to knock open the door if ya win? It'll be fun for you guys, and it saves me the trip down here every day." They went for it like a dog to pot roast. I tell ya! If these guys don't start realizing who the real genius is, I'm outta here."
Jack Fain is the lyricist for the Bendy songs. Jack is a sociable, young man who looks up to Sammy. When writing lyrics, Jack likes to write in a quiet place so that he can concentrate. When he is not working, he will talk with his co-workers, or go out and have drinks with them. He is the first to notice that something is wrong with Sammy and Susie.
Singing audition
"I love the quiet, and that's hard to come by these busy times. And yeah sure it may stink to high heaven down here. But it's just perfect for an old lyricist like me. Sammy's songs always got some bounce, but if I didn't get away once in a while, they'd never have any words to go with them. So I'll keep my mind a-singin' and my nose closed."
Hey Sammy! Hey Sammy!
Don’t worry Sammy, you’re a genius when it comes to music. That’s why I love working with you!
Norman Polk is the projectionist at the studio. Norman is a laid back, old man who likes to work in the dark. He's not very fond of sunlight, and is not very sociable. He doesn't like attention, and prefers to stay in the shadows. But because he stays in the shadows, he is able to notice everything that goes on in the studio.
"Every day the same strange thing happens, I'll be up here in my booth, the band will be swinging, and suddenly Sammy Lawrence just comes marching in and shuts the whole thing down. Tells us all to wait in the hall. Then I hears him. He starts up my projector, and he dashes from the projection booth and down to the recording studio like the little devil himself was chasing behind. Few seconds later, the projector turns off. But Sammy, oh no, he don't come out for a long time. This man is weird. Crazy weird. I got half a mind to talk to Mr. Drew about all this, I really do. But then again, I have to admit. Mr. Drew's got his own peculiarities."
"Now I’m not lookin' for trouble. It’s just the nature of us projectionists to seek out the dark places. You see, I’ve learned the ins and outs of this here studio. I know how to avoid being bothered by the likes of this... company. "That projectionist", they always say, "creeping around, he’s just lookin’ for trouble." Well trouble or not, I sees everything. They don’t even know when I’m watchin’. Even when I’m right behind ‘em."
Lacie Benton acts as Joey Drew's secretary. She is an old lady who doesn't like it when people slack off, and tends to be a bit strict towards them. She is a bit antisocial, and prioritizes work.
"The only thing that works around here is my ulcer. Half these people don't know a wrench from a dang steamroller. Buncha morons is what they are. Spend their day in the warehouse arguin' over who's supposed to be doin' what or playing them silly games. Still, I'm not complainin'. I get most of my time to myself. Suits me just fine. Only thing that bothers me is that mechanical demon in the corner. Bertrum's been working on it for a month now. Says it will walk someday and maybe dance. All it does now is give me the creeps. I swear, when my back's turned, that thing's movin'."
Thomas Connor is a repairman at the studio. He is disgruntled, ill-tempered, no-nonsense repairman, with trust issues. Despite this, however, he ends up falling in love with Allison Pendle, and even becomes a mentor towards Wally.
"It's dark and it's cold and it's stuck in behind every single wall now. In some places, I swear this godforsaken ink is clear up to my knees! Who ever thought that these crummy pipes could hold up under this kind of strain either knows something about pressure I don't, or he's some kind of idiot. But the real worst part about all this.. are them noises the system makes. Like a dying dog on its last legs. Make no mistake, this place... this... machine... heck, this whole darn thing... it just isn't natural. You can bet, I won't be doing any more repair jobs for Mister Joey Drew."
"These blasted elevators... sometimes they open... sometimes they don't... sometimes they come... sometimes they keep on going to Hell and back. I keep telling these people, if Mister Joey Drew keeps cutting corners like this, someone's sure to end up falling to their death. And it sure ain't gonna be me. I'm taking the stairs."
"Progress report to Gent Home Office. Client: Joey Drew Studios. Although we're making progress, the client's expectations keep changing. What started as a machine to simply mold life-size figures, now seems to be teetering on the edge of magic more than engineering. Although Mr. Drew remains convinced they're the same thing. The process of running the cartoon film through the machine for the figures to imprint upon themselves is going well. We've had several near successes. One weird note: the first figure ever created was a failed attempt in the likeness of the character called "Bendy". Since that time, no other attempts of this particular figure have emerged. And the one that did... I don't know, there's just something unworldly about him."
Allison Pendle is the second voice actress for Alice Angel. Allison is a kind woman, but tends to not have much confidence in her ability as a voice actress and singer. She feels extreme guilt for replacing Susie, and began to hate herself for it. But after spending time with Thomas, she begins to have more confidence in her abilities, and even learns to love herself.
Singing audition required
Hello...my name is Allison Pendle. I was told to meet Mr. Drew here.
I never had any intention on ruining your career, Susie! I didn't even know that Joey didn't tell you!
I should never have come here. I should never have accepted the role. If I hadn't...then Susie wouldn't be so angry.
Grant Cohen is the studio's accountant. Grant is often frustrated with Joey's methods of keeping the studio in good working order. Seeing this sort of thing before has made Grant cynical as to whether Joey's next big project is worth the money it will cost, which also shows that he tends to complain about his workload in general. However, the pressure appeared to be too much for Grant, which shows that he cannot handle stressful situations very well.
"They say the real problem with Mr. Drew is that he never actually tells us little people anything. Oh sure, according to him there's always big stuff coming, adventure and fame and the like. But I'm the guy, see, who has to make sure our budgets don't go all out of whack just cause genius upstairs went out and got himself another idea. Speaking of which, and this is top secret, apparently Mr. Drew has another large project in mind now, and it ain't gonna be cheap."
Shawn appears to be a worker who is not as obsessed with detail as his employer is. He grows frustrated about getting accused of mistakes in his toy making, finding it frustrating that the people making such accusations are not helping the situation. Shawn also complains more than anyone else does, and he has a bit of a dark sense of humor.
"I don't be seein' what the big deal is. So what if I went and painted some of those Bendy dolls with a crooked smile? That's sure no reason for Mr. Drew to be flyin' off the handle at me. And if he really wants to be so helpful, he could be tellin' me what I'm to be doin' with this warehouse I got full of that angel whatchamacallit. Not a scrap of that mess be a-sellin'! Probably have to melt it all down to be rid of it all."
Linda is, at first, Henry's girlfriend. The two of them met in high school, and are very much in love with each other. She is not very fond of Joey, as she knows that he is abusive towards Joey and the rest of his employees. Later on, she and Henry get married and raise a family together.
Singing audition required
Henry...what is going on? You've been working non-stop for days now. Do you really like working that much?
It isn't fair for Henry! He does everything you tell him to do...and it's still not enough!
I love you Henry.
Bertrum Piedmont is a renowned engineer in the world of theme parks. He is hired by Joey to build Bendy Land. Bertrum is quite dramatic and egotistical, so much so that his bombastic side rivals that of Joey Drew's. He is highly proud of the theme parks he creates, having worked on many amusement parks for forty years, claiming them to be "colossal wonders", and saying he earned his legacy with sweat. He hates being called pet names by Joey Drew (such as Bertie), as well as having the credit for his hard work taken from him, because he doesn't like being disrespected by anyone.
"For forty years, I've built attractions that stagger the imagination! Colossal wonders such as the world has never seen! I have earned my legacy with sweat. But right in front of everyone... high level investors, Wall Street tycoons, the ever-tactless Joey Drew introduces me, the great Bertrum Piedmont, as Bertie! Like I was his child. You may be paying me, Mister Drew! But you don't own me! I'll build you a park bigger than anything YOU could ever possibly conceive! But before you go taking any bows, Mister Drew, know that this grand achievement will belong to me... and to me alone."
"The biggest park ever built, a centerfold of attractions. Each one, more grand than the one before it. It makes my eyes come to tears at the thought. But then... oh Mister Drew. For all your talk of dreams, you are the true architect behind so many nightmares. I built this park. It was to be a masterpiece! My masterpiece! And now you think you can just throw me out? Trample me to the dust and forget me? No! This is my park! My glory! You may think I've gone... But I'm still here!"
Jacob Scout is a reporter who interviews the people in the studio. He is excited to witness the studio's growth, and loves a good story. But after seeing who Joey Drew truly is, he begins to see Joey as a tyrant and becomes frightful of him. His fear grows as he witnesses some of the employees growing insane, and the creation of the Ink Machine. Jacob Scout is based off of YouTuber, 'Jay from the Kubz Scouts'.
Hello. My name is 'Jacob Scout'. I'm writing a piece on Joey Drew Studios and the people who work here.
It seems like Mr. Drew doesn't want people outside the studio to know his real personality. I'm just being used so people think he's a great guy, aren't I?
I should never have come here! I should never have come to this awful place! I just want to go home!
