Project Overview
“Looking for a sense of comfort after moving into her first apartment, a lonely college student searches the internet for a famous 2012 Tumblr icon she used to worship, only to discover an impossible digital glitch in the matrix; her childhood idol never actually existed.”
"Invisible Idol" is a psychological horror/thriller shot entirely in the "Screenlife" format (taking place completely on a computer screen, similar to the movies Searching and Host). It taps into modern internet culture, the Mandela Effect, and the psychological descent of online obsession. Because of the unique desktop format, actors will record their roles entirely from the comfort of their own homes using standard computer webcams or phone cameras—no professional filming equipment is required. We are also casting an independent musician/composer to craft a dark, atmospheric synth score heavily inspired by the 2026 film Obsession.
This is a low-stress, flexible project designed for collaborative indie creators looking to build their portfolios. All selected talent will receive full IMDb credits through our distribution pipeline with Indie Rights, as well as high-quality footage for their acting and music reels.
Sonya is a college student who has recently settled into her first apartment. Looking for a sense of comfort in her new, isolated space, she remembers the defining obsession of her teenage years: Ellie Walker, an iconic 2012 internet celebrity she used to worship like a god. Sonya spent years running fan archives, analyzing her posts, and even trying to alter her own physical appearance to look like her.
When Sonya pulls up her laptop to search for her old idol, she discovers tiny, impossible digital anomalies that suggest Ellie Walker never existed at all. As she digs deeper, Sonya's analytical nature quickly unravels into full-blown panic.
This role requires a massive dramatic range. The actress will transition from quiet, nostalgic curiosity into a frantic, sleep-deprived mental breakdown. The climax of the film demands high emotional intensity, including fast-paced panic, crying, screaming at the monitor, and scenes of psychological distress where Sonya is convinced she can see glimpses of Ellie physically standing in the room with her.
Audition Requirements: Please deliver a performance that feels raw and internal—avoid theatrical or over-the-top "horror acting." We want to see the authentic, messy breakdown of a normal person whose reality is shattering in real-time through a webcam lens.

I literally just posted on three different subreddits asking if anyone met her in real life, and everyone is saying the exact same thing: they only remember her through a screen. Nobody has ever actually seen her face-to-face.
(SCENE 3) SONYA: (Crying and screaming in pure terror, backing away from her screen) Get away from me! Turn the screen off! She’s right there—I could have sworn she was just standing right behind my desk! Why is nobody listening to me?! Why can I still see her?!

Ellie Walker is the center of the film's mystery. To the internet, she was a legendary 2012 social media icon and model who an entire generation worshiped and tried to look like. In reality, she is a digital ghost—the result of a reality-bending Mandela Effect. This actress will appear on screen in fragmented "archived" media, including a remote, news-style video interview where her answers feel just a little bit too perfect.

Looking for an indie music producer or composer to create a tense, atmospheric electronic score for a short "Screenlife" psychological thriller titled Invisible Idol. The soundtrack needs to heavily emulate the dark, suffocating synth tension of the horror movie Obsession (2026) (think beautiful, melancholic synth melodies). Since the movie takes place entirely on a laptop screen, the music will do all the heavy lifting for the scares.
