Into the Unknown Duet (D&D Parody)

Into the Unknown Duet (D&D Parody)

Project Overview

Hi there! My name is Josh and I am a huge dungeons and dragons nerd, playing it at least once a week with friends. My main group has been a little stressed out recently and I thought it'd be fun and cute to put together a fun song with two of my characters(one that passed a few sessions before) and have an emotional but SUPER pretty ballad together. This would be using Man On the Internet's terrific duet cover as reference (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJjd8vYDmng ) and should turn out into something amazing.

The idea that I was thinking of was this:

So in the campaign, my first character, Lucy Sivril Aewin Aughter II, was killed in a massive fight she partially threw herself into. Before this, the whole reason she was out adventuring was to accomplish an almost impossible goal, to kill the Raven Queen. To do this, she made a deal with the Raven Queen's sworn enemy, The Prince of Darkness, Orcus. Making this deal put her in this in between of two gods, one that her family had sworn themselves to, and the other what Lucy had sworn herself to. This made it so when she died, the Raven Queen, having more power over her still, had trapped her in this purgatory of suffering and regret.

My new character Garrett Quincy Finn had left his family as to find adventure and make something of himself. He is partially connected to the Raven Queen through his best friend, and through this connection, this is where my mess of an idea starts haha. Lucy enters Garrett's mind through this connection and they begin to argue about this adventure that Lucy took and that Garrett wants to make into what they're calling "The Unknown." The whole song basically running over their wishes and ending with Garrett being unsure if he should follow Lucy "Into The Unknown."

In this, you will be playing Lucy, and I will be playing Garrett! I wanted to be a part of the project myself because I think it just sounds like fun, plus I'm pretty experienced in music from Chamber Choir and my performance in a few musicals.

Requirements

  • A good microphone and no background noise! Or at least background noise that we can easily cut out. Currently, I am using a Blue Snowball. It's obviously not the best thing in the world, but that's the quality I am looking for, if not better. If your quality isn't up to snuff, that's alright! It just can't be absolutely terrible.
  • Commitment! It's not much yes, but I do hope you won't drop out of the song randomly or just halfway through.
  • The ability to hit the notes!! The female part can get super high, and I just want you to be ready for it and not have to drop out because you can't hit the notes. And I do mean hit the notes healthily. I don't want you to hurt or strain your voice because of little ol' me haha.
  • Have a discord! Put your name and number below in a comment on your audition!
  • Have fun!! This is one of my favorite songs, and that's one of the reasons why I chose it. I enjoy singing it and belting it and that's what I want from you too! I want you to be as passionate about it and hopefully at least be a little interested.

Latest Updates

  • Casted!

After a long deliberation with friends who will be helping out on the project, I have made a decision. As for everyone else who auditioned, I hope I can see you around and we can work together in the future in other parodies I do for my D&D stuff! Thank you so much!
  • Role

Hey! I meant to put Lucy's role as "Singer" not "Voice Actor" so hopefully that doesn't slow productivity in anyway!

Lucy is strong voiced and of strong morals, but currently is in a heavy place of mourning of sadness that she can't escape from. This is her final warning out to whoever is listening that her path was the wrong path and though she doesn't regret her actions, she doesn't wish them upon anyone else. She may have a slight tinge of a British accent but it's not required or wanted if it doesn't sound natural. I hope to feel power but also sadness through your voice, and echoing of emotion from what you believe is hell. Good luck to anyone who auditions!

Also! It's not required to sing these in any specific order, Think of what I've given as a list of what I'd like to see.

  • Give me your best "Into the Unknown" in the same key as the video linked above.

  • Perform the last note and it's build up from the video linked above.

  • Perform the second verse and build up to the chorus in the same key from the video linked above. Starting from "What do you want? 'Cause you've been keeping me awake..." and ending on, "...Don't you know there's part of me that longs to go."
