(IDW Sonic Comics Issues 1, 2 & 13)

SONIC (Heroically) - I’m Sonic! Sonic the Hedgehog. Maybe you’ve heard of me? This is Knuckles the Echidna, commander of the Resistance. You guys are guilty of theft, extortion, kidnapping, and being grade-A jerks. So you can either come along quietly, or we’re gonna get loud. 

SONIC (Snickering) - [Trying so hard to contain his laughter.] Oh no. I was not prepared for this. 

SONIC - [Bursts out laughing.] HAHAHAHA! Knuckles!… (Gasps) You’re the salt of the earth! HAHAHA!

SONIC (Seriously Worried) (Sighs) It’s a bit rougher than I wanna play it, but I’m kinda in trouble. Whatever changed them is infectious. So, any ideas? Cuz’ this is spreading fast!

SONIC (Impatiently) - My name is Sonic. I’m made of “goes fast.” Eggman details. Spill ‘em! 

SONIC (Sternly) - I wanna hear it from you, fanboy. Where’s Eggman? What are you two planning? 

(IDW Sonic Comics Issues 3, 14 & 15)

SONIC (Rethinking It Over) - [Recounts the time he last battle Metal Sonic’s duplicate copy from the Phantom Ruby in Sonic Forces.] Mm-hmm. Adds up. That explains why I ended up fighting your phantom clone instead of the real-deal. Just one teeny-tiny problem with your grand, evil scheme. 

SONIC (Determined) - I’m gonna whoop your spiky butt before you can conquer anything! [Dashes straight into NEO-METAL.] 

SONIC (Thinks to Himself) - 

M’kay. Battleship? Sure, I can handle that on my own. Full company of Badniks? A little dicey, but doable. All that and Señor Starfish-Head? Nope. Time to bail.

SONIC (Alerted and Freaked-Out) - [Tries to stop WHISPER by calming her down.] WHOA! WHOA! WHOA! You can tear this place apart when we’re done! First, we need vital intel off the computer! 

SONIC (Stressed-Out) - [Calls out through the transmission.] AMY! KNUX! Are you there!? Silver found out what Neo’s up to! You’re gonna need to call in everyone!

SONIC (Confident) - It is now! All we need to do is rip the Master Emerald out of his crotch. Thus, we take away his power source as we save Angel Island. And Master Overblown here is taking us right to the calvary! 

(IDW Sonic Comics Issues 7, 8 & 11)

TAILS - That’s not what I mean. After we beat Dr. Eggman and his forces, we broke the Eggman Empire’s control over our world. The Badnik Army remained, but not as a unified threat. Any attacks seemed more like accidents than aggression. But today, unified troop movements? Super Badniks being deployed? Setting up ambushes? Something is making Eggman’s army more cohesive. 

TAILS (Curiously) - Without so much as an angry vlog? No way. After that last defeat, he’d make sure we knew he was back. But the lack of fanfare is spooky.

TAILS (Objectively) - 

Well yeah, but Neo has command over the Master Emerald. Everyone knows that it can neutralize the Chaos Emeralds. What if it can do the same to the Sol Emeralds? 

TAILS (Objectively Concerned) - Then what if Neo copied Blaze’s bio-data? He’d be able to use her fire powers at least, and harness the Sol Emeralds for himself at worst. 

(IDW Sonic Comics Issues 1 & 9)

TAILS (Unsure) - Okay, I’ve confirmed the damage from our fight. The loss of the Master Emerald reverted him back to his standard, basic abilities. I’ve finished the last of the necessary repairs. So are you sure you want to do this?

TAILS (Correctly) - Right. Instead of a mad genius, now we’ve got another mad genius with Sonic’s abilities and limitless stamina.

TAILS (Reassuringly) - I’ll bet! I built this test chamber to run models through all sorts of artificial climate and atmospheric conditions. In other words, there’s no way he’s getting out of there. 

(IDW Sonic Comics Issues 7 & 12 / IDW Tangle & Whisper Issue 4) 

TAILS (Positively Determined) - I think we should warn everyone to keep an eye out for any signs of these….. (Disgusted) (Sighs) Zombots. Eggman’s robots already attacked your town once. I’d hate for it to be targeted again. 

TAILS (Examining Curiously) - 

[Takes a closer look at SONIC’s infected arm.] Persistent and aggressive. It seems like your speed can burn it off and keep it in check, but not cure it. Let me run some models for more particular data.

TAILS (Urgently Questioning) - You said the same guys who attacked and terrorized the village kidnapped Mr. Tinker? 

TAILS (Urgently Questioning) - Did you get a good look at them? Maybe hear their names? 

TAILS (Stunned) - Uh… Did they just try to rhyme “pummel” with “tumble?” 

TAILS (Contradicting) - I don’t remember you saying they had those weird weapons. 

(IDW Sonic Comics Issues 13 & 16)

WHISPER (Whispering) - He was once a mercenary who ended up betraying his own team by helping Eggman wipe them out. [Takes out a few photos of MIMIC disguised as SONIC.] He took Sonic’s form, and started causing trouble. So I went to investigate. Found out it was him, been tracking him since then. I knew he’d likely target you and the others, too.

WHISPER (Quietly Exclaiming in Rage) - [Swings her hammer wispon up to finish him off.] You sold us out! I will make you pay! For all of them!

WHISPER (Hesitantly) - [Pauses for a moment, then fist bumps TANGLE’s tail.] (Quietly) What are friends for, right? 

(IDW Tangle & Whisper Issues 1 & 2 / IDW Sonic Annual 2019)

WHISPER (Hesitantly) - [Pauses for a moment before speaking.] (Whispering) There were five of us. [Takes out a picture.] Smithy, our crafter. Slinger, our marksman. Claire Voyance, our psychic. Me, the scout. And then…. There’s Mimic, the infiltrator. We were the Diamond Cutters.

WHISPER (Quietly Flattered) - 

Heh, thanks. We were an Anti-Eggman mercenary team. Took the most dangerous missions to liberate the world from Eggman’s grasp. (Whispering Sadly) I thought we were all committed to the cause. [Gives TANGLE her mask.] Here, let me show you. The video of our masks was networked. They let us review the missions, and study each other’s perspectives. 

WHISPER (Explains in a Whisper) - Smithy was a genius. Designed our masks, our wispons, everything. Masks let us communicate, coordinate, and detect our surroundings. He wanted us to act as one. This variable wispon was his prototype. We were all meant to have one. So together as a team, everyone could work as one and use all the wisps. (Solemnly Whisper) Everyone……

WHISPER (Quietly Continues to Explain) - I waited until it was all clear. Rescued the wisps, went back to base, and took Smithy’s prototype.

WHISPER (Contradicting) - They’re name for me. Not my idea. Though, I do appreciate its touch and texture. 

(IDW Tangle & Whisper Issue 3)

WHISPER (Screams Out Loud in Fear) - I WON’T LOSE ANOTHER FRIEND! I CAN’T!!! [Sits down on the safe, crying.] 

WHISPER (Solemnly Whispers) - (Sniffs) Okay. I’ll tell you everything…..

WHISPER (Whispering) - He did not. 

WHISPER (Impatiently Whispering) - Because that’s not Sonic.

WHISPER (Quietly Relaxes) - ……You’re right. 

WHISPER (Confirmable Whispers) - It’s over. The Diamond Cutters are done. [Comforts the blue wisp.] (Soothingly Whispers) Hush now, I don’t blame you. [Turns to TANGLE and MIMIC.] So, what’ll we do with him? 

(IDW Tangle & Whisper Issues 1, 2 & 4)

AMY (Cheerful and Bubbly) - I heard about what you and Tails did in the neighboring town and hurried over. I just knew you’d stop by here! 

AMY (Blushing with Embarrassment) - Not like that! I mean, I’m always happy to see you, and would follow you anywhere if you’d only let me but…. OOH! You get me so flustered! [Holds SONIC’s hand.] (Pleadingly) (Sighs) Sonic, I need you to come back to the Resistance. 

AMY (Concerned) - Yikes…. I hadn’t thought of that. (Determined) Then it’s all the more reason for you to come back to the Resistance! 

AMY (Irritated and Impatient) - You could spend weeks or months bouncing around settlements looking for clues! 

AMY - [Giving out another direct order.] Then pair up! Go door-to-door and bring back no more than 10 people at a time! Make sure to keep low and check your corners! 

(IDW Sonic Comics Issue 1)

AMY - It’s a refuse pit! The only way out is back the way we came! 

AMY (Realizing) - If they drove out here, they won’t be able to turn around. 

AMY (Sternly Irritated) - [Blocks the skunk brothers’ path.] It’s over you goons! Tell us where Eggman is and we’ll go easy on you! 

AMY (Worriedly Scared) - 

[Backs away from an approaching ROUGH.] They’re not responding! It’s like they’re completely soulless!

AMY (Worriedly) - This is bad. Eggman’s back, he’s gathering allies, and we have no idea what his plan is. The world has barely begun rebuilding after his last attack. If he were to strike again so soon, it could be devastating. We can’t let that happen. 

AMY (Understood) - [Taps into her computer.] Right. So instead of wasting our time looking for where he is, we’ll go where we know he isn’t. [Points on the monitor to the Echo Minds.] Maybe we’ll tap into his network from one of his old unguarded bases. 

(IDW Sonic Comics Issues 14 & 15)

AMY (Keeping Calm) - (Sighs) You’re right. 

AMY (Bubbly and Grateful) - [Takes both of SONIC’s hands.] It’s just who you are! And it’s all the reasons why I love you! I can’t change you, and I don’t wanna change you! 

AMY (Flattered) - Oh Sonic, I’d love to, but I can’t. The Resistance needs me to keep everything intact. I’ve been away for too long as it were. But if you don’t mind some direction, Knuckles went to investigate a town in the south. I haven’t heard from him yet, so he might need your help.

AMY (Comforting) - It’s not your fault. You were helping us down here. And now we’re gonna help you get your home back. [Begins planning out the attack using a projector screen.] We’re gonna split into three teams. Teams one and two will attack the shorelines and break the Egg Fleet’s control over the island. Meanwhile, team three will confront Neo-Metal Sonic here. They’ll secure the Master Emerald and rob the fleet of its commander. 

AMY (Confident) - But Neo shouldn’t be anywhere near the fleets. Blaze, I want you to be team one! Sonic and Knuckles will be team three, so everyone else, we’re team two! Everybody to the battleship. Let’s go liberate Angel Island! 

AMY (Certainly) - Whisper? Oh sure! She certainly likes to keep her distance. [Nudges BLAZE with a wink.] Kinda reminds me of how a certain princess used to be.

(IDW Sonic Comics Issues 2 & 9)

TANGLE - Hold on, you said that the leftover Badniks are getting more organized, right? 

TANGLE (Worried) - Doesn’t matter. The point is that they’re getting more dangerous. What if the war was just the beginning? What if there’s something even worse on the way?

TANGLE (Teasingly Pestering) - You’re not using your mind-powers to cheat, are ya? 

TANGLE (Badgering) - [Gets under SILVER’s skin.] Or maybe you’re using your future knowledge, huh?… 

TANGLE (Joking Aside) - 

Relax! I’m just messing with ya. 

(IDW Sonic Comics Issues 4 & 9)

TANGLE (Freaking-Out) - [Bangs on the safe door repeatedly.] NO-NO-NO! LET ME OUT! F-FIGHT ME OUT IN TH-THE OPEN! HELLO?! YOU JERK! OPEN UP RIGHT NOW!!! [Catches her breath to save some air.] (Claustrophobically Thinks to Herself) Don’t! Can’t pass out again. Can’t use up the air. It’s dark. Just…. Forget you’re enclosed and…. Umm…. 

TANGLE (Understandably Saddened) - [Wipes away a tear.] (Sniffs) [Sits beside WHISPER on the safe.] Okay, you got a hurt, and it runs deep. I’m thinking you’re long overdue for talking about it. So let it all out. I’ll shut up, I’ll listen.

TANGLE (Saddened and Understanding) - You’ve been carrying some serious baggage all on your own. I see that now. Let me help. Tell me what happened. What did Mimic do to you? 

TANGLE (Truthfully Reassuring) - They all sound like awesome friends. Now you gotta tell me what happened. I mean, I can figure out the details, but I think you need to get it off your chest because it’s eating you up inside. 

TANGLE (Calmly Reassuring) - If you can’t confront it right now, I understand. But the more you can share, the more I can help you. Please?….. 

TANGLE (Thinking It Over) - Okay…. So I’ve got a pretty good timeline of everything now. That only leaves one question…. (Curiously Concerning) Why leave me behind? Mimic is dangerous, and not because of what he can do, but because he’s in your head. If not me, then Sonic, Amy, Tails, somebody! Anybody?! 

TANGLE (Admittedly Aware But Determined) - Well…. Yeah. Which means he gets double the payback! We’ll bring him down and make him regret every lousy, nasty thing he’s ever done! (Considerate) I know how he works at firsthand now. He won’t trick me again. He doesn’t stand a chance next time! 

(IDW Tangle & Whisper Issues 2 & 3)

TANGLE (Excitedly) - Yeah! No! Maybe!? I mean sure, I miss home. But I’m on a floating tropical paradise! I fought a giant robot dragon, and survived! The past few days have been so crazy and cool! I don’t think I can ever go back to my old life! 

TANGLE (Hilariously) - Oh yeah, she’s a riot! She just told me the funniest joke! [Nudges WHISPER.] Go on. 

Tell him! Y’know, the one about the toaster? [WHISPER leaves an awkward pause of silence for a moment before SONIC’s ready to run.] (Confused) What did I say?

TANGLE (Confesses) - (Sighs) I’m sorry for being such a pest, it’s just…. After everything I’ve done with Sonic, things are so boring here! I fought robot invasions, and flying battleships! I met a fiery princess from another dimension! I pulled the wings off a giant, freakin’ robo-dragon! (Slumps in Dissatisfaction) And now I come home to peace and quiet. I can’t stand it anymore. 

TANGLE (Excitedly Agrees) - Hey yeah! Tangle & Whisper! Kicking butt together again! [Claps her hands.] Hey! Wisps! We’ve got a mission! (Heroically) Let no Eggman crony, robot or otherwise, sleep well tonight! Because Tangle & Whisper are on the case! And we’ve got a whole wave of wisps backing us up!

TANGLE (Excitedly Bouncing) - [Happy to greet WHISPER who decided to visit her town.] WOO-HOO! You came! You really came! 

TANGLE (Mirthful) - [Rushes in to give her a hug.] It feels like forever since our last adventure! It’s so cool to have friends come to visit! Especially when the town isn’t being bombarded even! [WHISPER slightly pushes her away with her wispon, reminding her to keep her distance.] (Forgetful) Whoops! Right. Boundaries. My bad. 

(IDW Sonic Comics Issue 12 / IDW Tangle & Whisper Issue 1 / IDW Sonic Annual 2019) 

ROUGE (Seductively Sarcastic) - Hm, well if you must know, Shadow was already looking for Eggman to ensure he wasn’t planning a counterattack. Shadow isn’t really the one to pull his punches. Anyone who got in his way, like say, some certain detectives might get hurt. So isn’t it convenient you got that anonymous tip when you did? You had plenty of time to find your target, verify him, then bring in Sonic. By the time I “helped” Shadow find this village, your investigation was already completed and you had a handy, heroic countermeasure by your side. 

ROUGE (Bits Farewell) - Always a pleasure. And don’t worry boys, we’ll count this as your gig. No need to split the finder’s fee.

ROUGE (Annoyed) - [Flies over on top of an Egg Fleet cannon ship controlled by TAILS.] I’m still gonna chew him out for bailing to do his own thing, whatever that is. 

ROUGE - Knowing Shadow? Seeking out the strongest threat he can get his hands on. 

ROUGE (Unsure) - Mmm… Provided they don’t trip over themselves trying to show each other up. 

(IDW Sonic Comics Issues 6 & 10) 

ROUGE (Sarcastically Seductive) - You sure about that, handsome? 

ROUGE (Smoothly) - Yeah, you’re real brave, big boy. 

ROUGE (Slyly Correcting) - Stop you? Sorry to burst your bubble, boys, but I’m only here for Egg-Head’s treasure. I’ve heard this place is packed with all kinds of shiny stuff. Enough to last for a lifetime. 

ROUGE (Smoothly and Swiftly) - Heh, looks like you’ve found yourself an Egg-Golem, boys. Trust Eggman to leave one last surprise. But don’t get your tails in a twist, we just need to listen for the remote. 

ROUGE (Reassuringly) - Don’t worry, they won’t come back. This old shredded curtain worked like a charm. You’re all safe, and so is your home. 

ROUGE (Slyly Reassuring) - Well, I don’t think you’ll need your boobytraps anymore. No one will come anywhere near this place. (Jokingly) Not after Scruff & Bumble tell them it’s been cursed. HAHA! 

(IDW Sonic Annual 2019)

ROUGE - [Following SHADOW’s lead.] Talk fast, big blue. We definitely heard him say he was rebuilding Eggman Land, and you know how stubborn Shadow can be.

ROUGE (Lounging Over the Sun) - Eggman’s private stash. I thought, “why let it go to waste?” 

ROUGE - Don’t let the paunch fool you. He actually used to have a meticulous cardio regimen. 

ROUGE (Smoothly) - I’m a girl of many talents. I keep my options open. Right now, I’m enjoying this tropical getaway. Not to mention that I’m having a full view of the Master Emerald. 

ROUGE (Admittedly) - He’s even worse about it than you. But yes, he’s gone, never to look back again. 

ROUGE (Seductively Sarcastic) - Ha! Like he ever listens to me. But I’ll pass it along if I get the chance. See ya later, Big Blue. [Blows a kiss for SONIC.] 

(IDW Sonic Comics Issues 6 & 12) 

CHARMY - [Flies all around SONIC.] Oh yeah! This place is great! There’s lots of kids my age! They have tons of mountain flowers! And they have the best honey tarts ever! 

CHARMY - That’s right! You haven’t met him yet! Hold on, we’ll get him! [Flies inside the shack, then comes out while pulling on somebody’s hand.] C’mon! C’mon! 

CHARMY - Except for how to fix and build stuff! He’s the best! 

CHARMY (Annoyed) - I’m comin’! I’m comin’! Sheesh! 

CHARMY - [Flies through the air, pretending to be and sound like an plane.] YEEEEOOOOWRM!!!! 

CHARMY (Teasingly) - YEAH! Told ya Mr. Tinker was a good guy! [Zips around a tree to avoid getting caught by an angry VECTOR.] (Tauntingly) Nyah-nyah! 

(IDW Sonic Comics Issue 5)

CHARMY - [Points at SHADOW.] Who invited him?!

CHARMY (Defensively) - Please, Shadow! He’s done nothing wrong! 

CHARMY (Saddened) - Maybe we can cheer from the sidelines? 

CHARMY (Still Stumped) - I don’t get it. 

CHARMY (Amazingly Intrigued) - It looks amazing! 

(IDW Sonic Comics Issues 5 & 6)

CHARMY (Freaking-Out) - [Carries SONIC by his hand.] I can’t carry everyone! What are we gonna do?!
