Project Overview
INTRODUCTION
Hello, everyone! This casting call is for the comic dub of "I Hope So," brought to you by Detective Calico. I am casting for a group of voices to be used for the first and second episodes of the comic, which will consist of around all 18 comic pages that have been released so far. Folks cast for main roles may be asked to provide lines for additional, smaller roles not featured on CCC. If you're not cast for a main role, and your voice matches the tone of the show, we may ask you to provide lines for supporting roles in the production. All roles are in the English language, and all roles are unpaid.

PROJECT OVERVIEW
'I Hope So' is a Webtoon comic by Detective Calico. It follows the story of a young lioness who is born with an injured leg and a loyal heart, and her struggles to fit in to a Pride with a corrupt leadership of discrimination and evil.
DEADLINES AND AUDITIONS
The deadline for auditions is March 25th, 2022. There are currently no plans to extend this deadline. I will notify voice actors who have been cast in roles by March 30th and send scripts to voice actors by April 5th. I need to receive all lines back from voice actors by April 15th. This is a estimated deadline.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Expect to be warmly greeted by myself, the creator of this comic dub. I will need your discord or email information in order to contact you. We communicate primarily through Discord and email. If you are unfamiliar with Discord you can still audition, however, we strongly, strongly recommend participation through Discord so that you can collaborate with your fellow voice actors.
WHAT WE ASK OF YOU
- First and foremost, have fun -- I take pride in bringing together talents in a diverse and awesome handful of people to create something truly phenomenal, but none of it means anything if the people involved aren't passionate about the project and having a lot of fun!
- Please submit clean recordings on XLR mics (if possible, there may be exceptions.) No air conditioners in the background, no fans -- we don't mind performing noise reduction on your files, however too much clean-up reduces the quality of your voice). And speaking of clean-up -- please let us handle the post-production. Don't add effects to your lines please!
- Feel free to cut your lines to your best/favorite takes. Three is the gold standard. We have a few voice actors that would rather give us more takes, and that's okay, too.
- If you are cast, please submit your recordings as one .mp3 file to my personal email address, which will be provided to you after casting. If a file is too large to submit via email, I prefer to use Google Drive..
- We do occasionally ask for line re-dos, but we do this sparingly and only after great consideration - we realize your time is valuable, and we won't ask for anything we can't work around in edits.
- Lastly, since we are planning on dubbing future episodes of the comic, we 'd like to cast people who will be able to stick with us for a while. We're incredibly proud of the acting troupe we've formed over the years, and when starting a new project, we frequently return to voice actors we've worked with in the past.

I just feel like I abandoned her. I just wish I could have run faster, or roared louder or done... something.
Vicious is Jasper's favorite female and has given him the most litters. She has a short fuse and if you make her angry, run. After seeing how she keeps trespassers away from her pride in order to protect her family, it's not hard to see why they named her Vicious.
Please! Jasper, my king! She's the only one left!
I'll make this simple for you. Get out of my kingdom, and I'll let you and your... reserves... live another day. You have until the Traveller disappears. You will no longer meet that tramp, or I will tell your father of this.
How did I end up with such a selfish cub? I should've let him kill you when you were born! Go live like a wanderer, if that's what you want. No one here wants to live with a lying, traitorous coward.
Clever is the older sister of Careful and Vicious. It's hard to believe she's related to the latter because Clever tends to take the path of least resistance. She's too old to bare cubs anymore, but contributes to the pride in other ways. She is a hugely important character in the series who will never back down from fighting for what she believes as right, and serves as a beacon of hope for the other characters.
Your intentions are good, Vicious, but she needs to do it on her own. It was the will of the Great King that she lived. She has the soul of a survivor.
I've known all along. I never thought I'd live long enough to hear you admit it. That's why I'm going to kill you right here. I don't want to do it. I'm not like you - and my sisters may hate me for it - but I must. Before you kill me and blame the cacklers for it. (I'll need some various battle sounds, grunts and growls.) RUN, LITTLE RAY! Don't look back! Whatever you do, don't look!
A lioness who had some of her greatest adventures in her dreams. Some of these dreams included her flying in the air, some were conversations with the Great King or the Traveler, some were places she'd never seen before. She would tell everyone about these dreams, and she is why people remember theirs.
Jasper has made his kingdom in the Golden Grove, and his pride has very few complaints about him, unknowing of his violent and evil nature. His lionesses have never voiced any fears, mainly because it would be bad for their health to voice them.
Stop following me around, and stop with your pathetic little theories. If you don't, I'll kill you. Just like I killed your mate. Not so noble and sweet after all, are you, Clever? Okay. Bring it on!
It's cruel to keep it alive. I'm putting it out of it's misery. Vicious, you're being hysterical. Whether you decide to keep it or not, I will get my heirs.
Watch your tongue! You either get better, or you end up with your littermate! Understand?!
Like all Travellers, Storm's home is the world. She's seen a lot in her short time on earth and has learned the tricks of how to get out of trouble, or avoid it entirely. She's spunky and shows how she's managed to survive by herself, even though she's devoted to both her brother and mother. Has ADHD.
Wow! I never thought I'd see you again! You're a giant compared to me! My past lives probably had amazing hair too. Oh - well - I'm called Storm now. What do they call you?
You riding that stripe-coat was pretty intense, until you got smooshed! Ha-ha!
I know you're probably having fun watching King Hairball tolerate his cubs - buuutttttt - wanna do some hunting practice with me?
These voices are for the cub versions seen in flashbacks throughout the comic. There will be multiple roles chosen from the auditions.
Woah! It's so big out here! (imitate a sound to represent falling over) Grrr! Stay back, you stinky cackler! All clear! Let's go play!

Took the strongest traits from both parents, Jasper and Vicious, and multiplied it by ten. While she's shown exemplary leadership skills, she's also shown to not work well under stress. Good thing not much stresses her out. She's only a few months old, but has the confidence of a lion who has lived a lifetime. She is particularly close to her littermate, Quiet, despite their completely opposing personalities.
Let's see... Those are stripe-coat tracks. It looks like they headed this way. The wind is blowing towards the high hills!
I'm coming with you. With Quiet gone, there's nothing to go back to. You're all I have left now.
Does this mean I have to change my name to something weatherey?
The current King of the Thundering Mountains. Their previous King passed away and they opted for Obsidian to take over since he was well-respected, despite not being the biological father of anyone in the mountains. Sadly, old age is really beginning to catch up with him and he's desperate to hand over power to the rightful heir to the throne: his adoptive grandchild, Diamond. Diamond, however, is reluctant to entertain any suggestions that their grandfather will not be around for much longer and often puts the conversation off, to his chagrin.

The loving husband of Obsidian and co-King of the Thundering Mountains. A former "jester" of the court, Opal is known for his sense of humour and easygoing, laid-back attitude despite his immense size. He loves his grandchild, Diamond, dearly and is very proud of the fine lion they have turned out to be. Has albinism.
You gonna try 'the talk' with them again?
Why don't you go down to the void and talk with them there? That way they can't sneak down one of their escape tunnels.
