INTRODUCTION
Hello, everyone! My name is Lesley. This casting call is for my senior thesis film: HUNTSMAN. As a senior studying experimental animation, I have the opportunity to use the skills that I have learned to produce a short film in just over a year!
I am casting for just a couple of voices in this film, as it has a very small set of characters. If you're not cast for a main role, but your voice matches the tone of the short, I may ask you to provide lines for minor roles in the production. I am also looking for a composer to put together the score for the film!
All voice roles are in the English language.
This film is on a student budget, so for the main roles I am paying a $50 flat fee, and minor rolls anywhere between $15-$25. (But I am more than willing to compensate extra if I end up needing a lot of retakes) For the composer, I'm paying a $125 flat fee for just over 5 minutes of score. All payments are made through PayPal or Zelle.
All voice actors and composers will be listed in the credits of the film.
THESIS FILM OVERVIEW
HUNTSMAN Mark Wallace, and his companion Cassandra spend their night trying to figure out how to get him out of his controlling contract with his boss. Having been at it so many times, Mark is numb to the idea of ever escaping. Cassandra on the other hand is very insistent on finding him a way out. He doesn’t understand why- until he makes the startling discovery that she is dead. In an effort to understand how this could have happened to her, he must force himself to retrace his memories of her.
NOTE** This film contains themes of violence and death. If this is something you are uncomfortable with, please don’t audition!
DEADLINES AND AUDITIONS
The deadline for auditions is November 1st, 2025. I may extend this deadline if needed, as I still have a few months before the audio needs to be finalized. (I'd just like to stay ahead while I can!) Ideally I would like to have the lines recorded and submitted by Nov. 14th, so I have enough time to do the audio engineering before my first deadline.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Expect to be warmly greeted by me! I am so stoked to be making this film and voice actors like you help me bring these characters to life! As a student I can be more than flexible with deadlines, equipment, and anything else you might need. (I understand shit happens!)
Since this film is still in its early stages- lines may change, be dropped, or added, but I will keep you in the loop and compensate accordingly. As an artist I truly value what you are bringing to this project, and though I am working on a student budget I will do my best to make sure you aren’t working for an unreasonable pay. I am very open to communication, so if you feel there are too many retakes/changes for what you’ve been paid, please let me know! This is my first time directing my own project like this and I want to make sure I am being fair.
I’ll be communicating primarily through Discord and text. If you are unfamiliar with Discord, you can still audition. That being said, I would love it if you were a part of the Discord so that I can keep you updated on the project and its progress!
WHAT I’LL ASK OF YOU
First and foremost, have fun! Be creative! If there is a line you think could be said in a different way, or have an interesting take on it- don’t be shy!
Please submit clean recordings! (no air conditioners in the background, no fans -- I don't mind performing noise reduction on your files, however too much clean-up reduces the quality of your voice, and I wouldn’t want that!)
Please submit your recordings as one .wav file to my email address, which will be provided to you after casting. If a file is too large to submit via email, I can provide you with the google drive link.

Lead Role in my thesis film! Mark has the most lines, but they are mostly shorter ones.
Mark is a very tired character. He has an unfulfilling- even miserable job, of killing others. His one solace is a companion he picked up along the way- Cassandra. She is the only person he enjoys talking to, even if he tries to hide it. I’m looking for a tired, grounded male voice.
"That's a stupid idea, Cas."
"You know that's never going to work right?"
(in pain) "Shit- we have to go, now."
Lead role as well! Cassandra is very talkative.
She adores Mark's company and is happy to come up with ideas to try and cheer him out of his near constant funk. Optimistic and charismatic.
"Well I can't let a Huntsman get away without a scratch- I'd never get hired again!"
"You ever thought about just running away super far... with me?"
"You really don't remember..?
Very minor role, only 1-3 lines!
Despite her lack of lines, Marie is the main antagonist- and Marks boss. She has a looming presence over the entire story- so I want each line to really stick!

Above is a playlist of inspirations for what I'm looking for. The first half of the film is more action based, so I'm going for a more grunge feeling that the first few songs capture really well. (NIN, Alice in Chains, Muse) The second half is more emotion-led, so I'm looking for something that really leans into the dramatic with some violins and more somber sounds. (Heavy Radiohead/Muse inspirations)
I'm not looking for lyrics, just purely instrumentals!
