We all know the importance of music and how it helps with learning, memorization, and comprehension. So why are there still students who do not have access to school music programs and instruments?
Public schools all across the country are having their budgets slashed with music and the arts being the first to go.
This has left 1.3 million elementary school students with out access to a school music program.
Here at Hungry for Music, we think that is completely unacceptable and decided to do something about it. That’s why we created the Give a Groove campaign.
We asked our friends over at Sam Ash to lend a hand, and we are asking for your help.
This year, June 21st, on World Music Day, Sam Ash will be accepting all instruments, which will be directly donated to the Hungry for Music organization. In return for giving a groove, Sam Ash is giving everyone who donates 30% off our new merchandise, keeping your love for music alive.
But you didn’t think that was all we were doing though, right?
Throughout the rest of the summer, Hungry for Music will work to repair and refurbish all donated instruments and then we are hitting the road in the fall! Right in time for back to school.
We will be travelling on our tour bus during the month of September for the Give a Groove Tour, stopping at elementary schools all across New York City where all the donated instruments will be put in the hands of New York’s young students.
At the end of the Give a Groove tour, we are throwing a benefit concert for everyone to see how much power music can create. There will be live performances, group music lessons, and of course outstanding food!
Music can be a life-changing and uplifting gift which should be experienced by everyone. That’s why our mission is to put instruments into the hands of those Hungry for Music.
