Hello, everyone! We are Backlights Studios, a fandub studio dedicated to dubbing over fancontent of Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail. You can find our Youtube channel, along with several comics we have already dubbed in the featured video!
This is an EMERGENCY casting call for several characters that were on our previous casting call-namely, Robin, Clorinde, Shenhe, and Firefly as a recast. Additionally, due to misbehavior from our original casting for Boothill, he is now up for recast.
While this is a long-term commitment, it will be fairly casual and chill. However, we still expect clear communication and professional behavior from team members. This project is unpaid and just for fun.
You may audition for, and be casted as, multiple characters! The limit is 2-3 roles per game, depending entirely on how much content the characters you are cast as have. Note that the directors reserve the right to self-cast for a role if we feel we can portray the character well, BUT we are not exempt from the role limit!
PLEASE DO NOT DO IMPRESSIONS OF THE OFFICIAL VOICE CAST! While you may use the official voice of a character as inspiration, we strongly encourage auditioners to give their own takes on a character's voice. For certain characters we may provide more detailed direction/voice references from other games, but following that direction is not mandatory!
Guidelines
If you are cast, please be communicative and professional. While this is a casual series, we will not tolerate ghosting the project for an extended period of time without explanation. If you do so repeatedly, you will be recast.
You must be 15+ years old. The directors are not comfortable working with anyone under that age. It should also be noted that due to this age specification, there may be minors present in the Backlights Discord. If you are cast, please behave professionally for everyone's sake.
We may dub comics/memes with shipping or cursing. In the case of shipping, we will ask the VAs involved if they are comfortable dubbing the content. We will be voicing comics with LGBTQIA+ themes and ships. We will NOT, however, be doing any comics or memes that contain suggestive or NSFW content.
Please have clear audio. You do not need a professional-level setup/microphone but we just need to be able to clearly understand what you say.

I will not tolerate any AI voice auditions. Backlights Studios condemns the usage of generative AI.

A universe-renowned singer from Penacony who has been invited home by the Family to sing for the Charmony Festival. Charming and beautiful, she is always the center of attention when she appears onstage. Robin is a very selfless and empathetic person who strives to help others, using song as a way to soothe people's sorrows. Despite rarely being home, she is very close with her older brother Sunday, often bringing him pastries and stories from throughout the cosmos.
No, being able to sing is not a requirement. It's an added bonus if you can though!
Voice direction: medium-high pitched fem voice, soft, gentle, and kind. Her voice should make people feel relaxed and just have "good vibes" in general. Be mindful to make the kindness sound genuine and not sickly sweet. Please DO NOT do an impression of Alice Himora!

Firefly is a sweet and helpful young lady who first claims to be a member of Penacony's Iris Family, though it is later revealed that she is a stowaway who snuck into Penacony's Dreamscape.
Firefly suffers from Entropy Loss Syndrome, a chronic illness that wears away at the body over time and causes it to eventually fade into nothingness. Firefly uses the Dreamscape as a way to enjoy herself and move about freely without having to worry about overstraining her body.
Voice direction: medium-high to high pitched fem, cheerful, soft, and earnest. Be sure you're capable of sounding battle ready or resolute as well. Please DO NOT do an impression of Analesa Fisher!

—A sincere letter that a certain wealthy merchant who had pleaded "Not Guilty" received on the eve of a duel.
Clorinde is Fontaine's strongest Champion Duelist and Furina's ex-bodyguard. A strict and coldly professional defender of justice, the mere mention of her name sends chills down criminals' spines.
You can pronounce Clorinde's name like how the English dub says it, or like "Clor-ahnd."

[amused] I'm now beginning to understand why she complains all the time about how hard it is to maintain her physique...
[professional, serious] Greetings. I am Clorinde, a Champion Duelist of the Court of Fontaine. If you wish to hire my services, please state the nature of your dispute... you may leave out any extraneous details. Those are no concern of mine.
[like you're enjoying something exquisite] The flavor is perfect. Exactly how I like it. [a little more serious but half-joking] Don't let the journalists or gourmets in on this though-they only know how to appreciate food through the lens of a Kamera or the words of a newspaper article.

Even though Shenhe was born in the human world, she ended up being an adepti disciple. She grew up in the mountains far away from Liyue Harbor, her soul bound with red ropes, training both her body and mind. Despite having the elegant temperament of an adeptus, Shenhe seems to be shrouded in mystery. While her personality comes off as very distant and aloof, there are select times when a bit of emotion peeks through.
Voice direction: low, husky fem voice. Soft-spoken and elegant, but with an air of otherworldliness/danger. She should sound detached and aloof, but not robotic. Please DO NOT do an impression of Chelsea Kwoka!

[quiet and sad; on the verge of tears, but don't overdo it] The only dish I can never forget the flavor of is that bowl of noodles I ate at home, so long ago... I shouldn't have to remember that. Why do I have to remember that?

A cyborg cowboy drifting among the stars. Extremely optimistic and unrestrained. He is a member of the Galaxy Rangers who swore to punish the wretched by any and all means...His flamboyant and brash actions were all to draw the attention of the Interastral Peace Corporation — the target of his revenge.
Voice type: medium to medium-low masc, with a bit of intimidating grit. Please do an American Southern/country accent for this character! Boothill has a very slight metallic filter over his lines. If you are cast, we plan to do the same with any lines that you record. Please DO NOT do an impression of Andrew Russell!
