Honeybee - Original Cartoon
Project Overview
Honeybee is the working title of a project I've been working on for a few years now. This audition is for the concept video, which will hopefully lead into a pilot episode, and an eventual series.
"In an Earth much like our own, Will, a girl with the power to speak to bugs, discovers a secret related to the recent disappearance of bees and other pollinating insects worldwide. She sets off with a few friends, bug and human alike, to solve the mystery and save the bees. Along the way, she makes many new friends and has new experiences. However, it isn’t long before they discover that the bees’ disappearance isn’t as natural as once thought. An organization from another world, led by another person with the power to speak to and control bugs, is stealing the bees in order to resurrect their own home. Using their various skills and powers, Will and her friends must stop this organization before the Earth is destroyed."
When auditioning, please be sure to have good audio quality. This is very important, as having audio quality below my standards will automatically disqualify you from the role.
If you are cast, I will ask you for a little information, such as how you would like to be credited, and then you'll be finished. The lines listed in the auditions are all I'll need from you.
There is also an ongoing audition for paid roles for this same project! Only three roles are available on that casting call.

Various cicadas that will be appearing in one scene. They can be of any gender or age--all I need from you is the ability to let out a long, drawn-out "Aaaaahhhh!!"-type scream! Several people will be cast in this role.
(screaming continuously) AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
A bee whose wing has been damaged and can no longer fly. She has a melancholy way of speaking.
Sydney? Oh. That's a...nice name. Thank you.
...I'm not sure. It's far away...that's all I know, really. Sorry.
(angry) It's not my fault! I didn't choose for all this to happen! I didn't choose any of this! I just--I just want to go home!
The main antagonist. They have powers similar to Will's. They sound rude when they speak, and their voice should be as gender-neutral as possible.
(sneering) You think you can beat me? You're just a kid! You can't even do half of what I can do!
(angry) Nothing will distract me from my goal...do you hear me, little girl? Nothing!
(snide laughter) What'd I tell ya, kid? Now your friends are gone. It's just you an' me. What're ya gonna do, huh? Nothin'! 'Cause there's nothin' you CAN do!
A wolf who is much like Jan's older sister. She's rather deadpan most of the time. She speaks with a medium-high to high voice (I've been imagining her with Monica Rial's voice....). (Jan is pronounced "yawn.")
(sighs) Would you just go talk to them? You're being creepy, hiding in the bushes and watching them all the time.
(enthusiastic) Jan! Go right! Okay, now jump! Good!
(angry) Don't talk to me that way! You think that just because you've helped me in the past, that I owe you something? I never asked for your help! I owe you nothing!
Vivi is a fun-loving girl who joins the main character on her journey. She has a medium-high voice, but does not sound cutesy. (Her name is pronounced Vee-vee)
This isn't a requirement, but as Vivi is Hispanic, I would love for her to be voiced by a Hispanic voice actor!
(curious) It's a honey bee, right? I've never actually seen one before, you know. Can you really talk to them?
(nervous) You don't know that it's true, though...! (getting more upset) You don't know what I've been through! Will! You have no right to say anything about my choices!
(enthusiastic) You'd better bee-lieve it, honey! There were swarms of them by the mall. It was pretty Ah-Muzen to see!
Jan is a strange boy who follows Will and her friends around for a while. He seems a bit silly, since he doesn't quite grasp many concepts of human society. He speaks with a medium to medium-high voice. (His name is pronounced "yawn.")
I would prefer if Jan was voiced by a trans voice actor, particularly a trans boy, but it is not a requirement.
(defensive) Fang! No! I'm just fine watching from a distance! No, hiding in bushes is NOT creepy! And you have no right to talk, anyway!!
(excited) Haha! Yeah, enforcing your Will! Get it? Because your NAME is Will? That's so funny!!
(confused) A...hamburger? No, but I smelled someone cooking them before! They smelled really good. (getting distracted by the food offered to him) Just...like these ones do...mmm....
Mar is a young prodigy who joins Will and friends on their journey. She has a higher-pitched, childlike voice, but she shouldn't sound cutesy or overly-feminine.
This isn't a requirement, but as Mar is African American, I'd prefer if she was voiced by an actor of the same ethnicity!
(getting exasperated) Look. I'm good at what I do. REALLY good. But that doesn't mean I want to be treated like some kind of...I don't know! I just--I'm not perfect. And I wish that they could see that.
(angry) Get back here and brush your teeth! I'm not dealing with your smelly wild-boy breath anymore!
(light laughter) That...was actually pretty funny, I'll give you that.
