HIVEBOUND - The Official Audio Drama
Project Overview
HIVEBOUND is an alternate-universe fan story for Hiveswap where a group of trolls from Hiveswap play a game similar to Sburb. There's chaos, violence, and tense relationships as the trolls try to figure out how to beat this cosmic game they're stuck in for an ultimate prize.
This project is 18+ because of the violence and strong language used. Please do not audition if you are a minor. If you do audition, please join the Discord for casting so it's easy to stay in touch and get updates about the project.
Read the original story here: https://archiveofourown.org/works/52170304/chapters/131957905
You are free to audition for as many characters as you want to, but only one role will be given out per actor. Please make sure that you have a good microphone and no background noise.
This is a long-term project and by auditioning, you acknowledge that it could be quite some time between lines being needed. Lines should also be turned in timely (by that, I mean like a week or two after they're posted, otherwise you may be cut from the project. If you need an extension because of an emergency, of course that'll be granted).
When you are logged in, you can comment, add submissions, create projects, upvote, search open roles, and way more. Login here.
The narrator gets to read all the text outside of character dialogue (which will be the largest portion of the audio, so be ready to read large chunks of text.) It's not a fancy role, but you will be the person heard more than anyone else.
You can present a masculine voice, feminine voice, androgynous voice, ect. Gender doesn't matter for the narrator.
When reading character's internal thoughts, read it in your natural narration voice, but put some emotion into what they're thinking.

Xefros sat at his husktop and sighed. He didn’t want to check his messages. He knew what would be on the screen.
This solution worked for about six hours (nobody wanted to leave out of fear of being bombed so the office was turned into a makeshift camp.) until the trolls realized that: Failure to complete work could result in getting fired or culled. Nobody was coming to fix the copier while there were bombs dropping. There was no place to shower in the office nor any sopor slime to avoid the nightmares.
The slow, moody tones of synthesizers swelled behind him as he took in a deep breath of the burning air. He looked up at the moons that were hidden behind the plumes of smoke that continued to rise ever higher and higher into the sky when a small piece of ash landed on his forehead. Zebruh plucked it off and stared at it. This meant more was coming, he could feel it.
Xefros is a rustblood troll. He's shy and non-confrontational, and he's moirails with the wanted terrorist Dammek.
When doing his lines, try to accentuate his unease and uncertainty in both himself and his relationship with Dammek. Don't go to extreme, but make it clear that he's vaguely scared of most things and trolls.
- male young adult
Are you busy with something? You can tell me about it! Hello? Dammek are you ok? Why are you ignoring me?
Damn it! I’m all wet now and I’ll have to scrub the floor again!
Thank you for keeping me safe, Dammek. You’re the best moirail, you know.
Dammek is a determined (but inexperienced) terrorist. He's cold towards his own moirail (Accentuate the fact that he's manipulative of Xefros) and has violent outbursts towards others. When he wants to be, he's cool and collected, unless he loses his temper.
- male young adult
They will kill you, Xefros. Listen to me. If you want to stay safe, follow only my leads.
You’re already on the brink as The Mask. What’s a little more brinksmanship at this point?
(About to kill another troll) Still… No loose ends.
Polypa is an oliveblooded mercenary with a soft side. Often times she is reserved, and she prefers to fight alone, but she also has a friendly side that can come out. She's crafty and resourceful but also tends to try and deal with problems head on rather than entirely thinking them through.
- female young adult
Sure. But on the one condition that you learn how to actually defend yourself and not act like a wet noodle I have to bail out all the time. If you’re dragging me down, I’m cutting you off. Understand?
Yeah, when I was younger my hive caught on fire and I was nearly killed by it. I had some pretty nasty scars on my arms from where some pieces of wood collapsed on me so I decided to wrap them in bandage to hide them.
Ok so, we’ve made a bit of progress, but we’re still not there yet.
Chixie Roixmr is a bronzeblood singer by day, rebel by night. In the day, she's anxious and nervous, but at night when she puts on her mask, she's able to be a confident version of herself. While she often lets other trolls walk over her, when she stands up for herself, she makes sure everyone knows it.
- female young adult
Oh my god, are those bombs outside near you?
Thank you, Marvus. That’s very kind, actually.
So what I’m hearing is that you want to liberate every troll on Alternia except for Xefros.
Tirona is everyone's favorite little legislacerator, and by favorite I mean she's a borderline psychopath who's dedicating her life to the cause of law (execution) and justice (anyone she decides deserves it). She's very energetic at almost all times. Despite her deeply engrained love for the Empire and the caste system, she has a severe soft spot for the boy band HATCHED2DANCE.
- female teen
I’m sorry, uh, whoever you are. It’s just that I was taught to always respect trolls higher than me.
A sparkly think on a mountain!
Uh- (Give me your best totally confused "Uhhhhhh")
Tegiri is a legislacerator obsessed with anime culture. He'd probably use 4Chan if it existed on Alternia (It'd be utterly terrifying on there if it did). Don't go too thick with the "redditor" voice but give a little bit of that sound.
(Note: Tegiri does not have many lines)
- male young adult
The winds may blow hard but the sturdy tubeflora never bows despite how short it may be. Stay firm, Tirona.
Tyzias plays things straight and serious. She's comitted to her job, her matesprit, and her life. She's smart, perhaps a bit too smart for her own good. Occasionally she comes up with borderline heretical legal systems as a hobby.
- female young adult
A recipe for disaster of the highest order.
You’re just causing disarray in the office by refusing to work and by flinging pencils at us. We merely want to appeal to Tirona’s sensibilities to persuade her to help us resolve this conflict.
Whatever you’re up to, Tagora. Whoever you’re dealing to. I’ll figure it out.
Stelsa is... over the top to say the least. A legislacerator, she always seems a bit more focused on her own looks than her business. Thankfully, her matesprit Tyzias is there to help. Her voice should reflect her eccentricity and extragavence.
- female young adult
Tirona, darling. Surely you can’t be endorsing this kind of behavior in the office. Come and join our side and we’ll be able to out-vote the other side and get back to work! You don’t want to be culled, do you?”
I’m sure it was just a distant bomb, I mean those have been going off for days now.
Konyyl, my dear, we must figure out how to progress from here.
Tagora is a corrupt and slimy legislacerator who's not afraid to get his hands dirty to squeeze out just a little extra money from his clients. He should sound slick and cunning, but also easily flusterable if he's in a situation where someone critiques or calls him out.
- male young adult
I am not an agent of chaos as you may call me. I can sue you for slander, you know. What if a client heard that?
No, no, no! Listen to me!
I’m not just a legislacerator. I’m a businessman. I can stand in front of His Honorably Tyranny and defend an innocent troll’s life one day and falsify ownership papers the next. I don’t care about the ‘ethics’ (Tagora airquoted). This is Alternia. I’ll make a living any damn way I want.
Daraya is a jadeblood searching for a meaning in life. She's filled with pent-up frustration for just about everything, but through that shell of frustration, she does care about her friendship with Bronya. She just wishes that there was something more for her to look towards in life than being cloistered.
- female young adult
Come on! We’re going to miss it if you don’t hurry up!
Lanque goes out all the time, why can’t I just have a night out?
Galekh, do you have any idea how we can survive this?
Bronya is the long-suffering jadeblood in charge of keeping the peace in the brooding caverns. She cares for all the trolls in the caverns, but god, do they make her life hard for seemingly no reason. She should sound like a tired chaperone.
- female young adult
Daraya, we were not authorized to be here. If the authorities find out they might- they might cull both of us!
I try so hard... So, so hard to make things nice for you but you never appreciate what I do for you. I’m sorry you don’t enjoy the work that this life has laid out for you but please, please, just don’t complain about it 24/7.
We don’t really have a choice
Konyyl is the brash matesprit of Azdaja. Her sense of humor is dark, she's not afraid to get her hands (er- claws, actually) dirty for a job, and oh boy does killing trolls make money. She's highly protective of her matesprit, and is ready to fight her way through anyone that might stop her.
- female young adult
Hopefully they know how to fight!
I wouldn’t have saved Zebruh’s ass.
I haven’t heard from Azdaja in hours. That isn’t normal. I swear to god if something happened to him-
Azdaja is the over-confident and wiley matesprit of Konyyl. He's just about the greatest thing to happen to the mustardblood caste... at least he thinks that. He's always three seconds from just running at something head on.
- male young adult
Fucking hell, you’re relentless!
We’re both survivors, that’s what sucks about this. One of us can’t walk away from this. (About to shoot.) A damn, damn, shame.
Do you love anyone?
Marvus is a charismatic celebrity that Alternia is obsessed with. A purpleblood, he's best known in other clown circles. He's always ready to put on a fun show (even though he longs for people to see him as an actual artist.) Being the forefront of cool, he speaks in almost uncomprehensible strings of slang with his low voice.
- male young adult
I feel bad for you, Daraya, but I also feel bad for Bronya here. You jades have it really fuckin’ hard, you know that?
"that aint gon mean shiz tho when you’re dead lil’ rusty"
We’z in a really tough spot, m’kay? And I’ll do my best to protect you two but I can’t guarantee shit. Aight?
Chahut is a purpleblood preacher for the clown church. She has a knack for inspiration evangelicalism and other forms of inspirational speeches. Despite this, she has a remose deep down in her heart for all the sacrifices she did in the name of the clown gods. Still, she's big and intimidating, and often wields an axe to boot.
- female young adult
It’s actually just paint. I used to do living sacrifices but I’ve gone too soft for them. Now I just apply fresh paint in splatters to make it look like I do them still.
What in the name of the messiah is going on?
But what about all the other trolls. You don’t intend to hurt them, do you?
Mallek is a blueblood hacker who's always behind the screen of his trusty husktop. His personality is always calm and collected, but inside he's wondering if he can really truly push past the hemospectrum that has been implanted in his head and see other trolls as being perhaps not quite as inferior to him. (To be honest though, most other bluebloods didn't stack up to him in his own opinion.)
- male young adult
Oh man, I nearly fucking died there. Thanks a million, Fozzer.
What the fuck was that? Holy shit, that nearly made my blood pusher stop!
He’s unconscious, check if he’s still breathing.
Elwurd is everyone's calm and cool drug dealer. It may not look like it, but there's always a bunch of white powder of some sort and a handgun in her coat. She's ambitious and ruthless, but not cold. She's energetic.
- female young adult
It’s nice to have an opponent who’s competent for once.
You know you’re more accurate if you rest your grip on your arm rather than just holding it with one hand.
Is that blood on your shirt?
Vikare is a bronzeblood obsessed with the concept of flight. He speaks in unusually long words that confuse everyone endlessly. Unlike most other trolls, he's focused not on violence or success or relationships, but simply finding a way to fly.
Give him an accent of some kind. My suggestion would be an English one, but it's not required.
- male young adult
Quite alright, my good man. Just in need of a bit of a lift.
There are the most wonderful of resources plentiful to the urban environment that- (Gets cut off)
You see, I have been slowly putting together the engine to power a two-winged aeroplane device. Let me show you.
Fozzer is the caretaker of the Happy Absence Pit Park, a rural cemetary. He lives a solitary life distrustful of just about any troll higher than yellow on the hemospectrum. He's always a bit bitter about everything, but everyone is just kind of used to that.
Give him a Russian accent. His voice should be deep but gentle.
- male young adult
- russian
I must ask, why did you (suspicious) ‘fly’ here.
What is a telephone?
I must admit, I am not used to working with trolls of higher order, but you have a sense of comradery.
Galekh is almost entirely formal, except for when he gets frustrated. Most of the time though, he is calm and soft speaking, but not afraid to tell trolls the harsh truth. He's an intellectual with almost unlimited curiosity about knowledge. Despite being a beliver in the natural order of the hemospectrum, he is always respectful to trolls regardless of color if they're respectful to him.
- male young adult
Unless I’m under time constraint, I’m safe. I think it’s best of someone acts like a coordinator.
We’re trapped in this world, you know. I think I was able to get the message across before Azdaja and Konyyl decided to break ranks. And well, before we lost the others as well.
The nature of trolls. Give them weapons and they will kill.
One half of the Soleil twins. They're always vaguely confusing and creepy to other trolls as they seem to share one mind.
- female teen
What are we doing?
Of course- (cuts off)
(Starts mid-sentence)A dramatic and tragic one!
The other half of the Soleil twins. They're always vaguely confusing and creepy to other trolls as they seem to share one mind.
- male teen
And we love a good story-
Mister Marvus!
So where are we going?
