Project Overview

What is this?

This project is a fan dub and motion comic edit dedicated to the romance slice-of-life series ‘Hitomi-chan Is Shy With Strangers’ (’Hitomi-chan wa Hitomishiri’) written and illustrated by Natsumi, Chorisuke. **This specific project will mainly focus on giving the main characters (Hitomi and Yuu) voices of their own years after the manga’s initial publication. The plan is to dub over 4-5 of the first few chapters of the manga. Manga panels from the series will be edited into a motion comic format with the plan to animate several panels and actions.


If you’re unfamiliar with the series ‘Hitomi-chan Is Shy With Strangers’ I’ll give you a quick rundown. The series focuses on the main character Hitomi Takano, she’s a first-year student who struggles socially due to her intimidating appearance and overall lack of social skills. She then meets Usami Yuu, an upperclassman to her who decides to help and befriend Hitomi. Together, Hitomi learns to overcome her social anxiety and slowly shows more and more people in her school just how much of a sweet girl she is. As the both of them get to know each other more and more as the series progresses, they grow close — so close that they may start becoming more than “just friends”.


This is strictly a passion project dedicated to the series. There will never be plans to profit from this project. This also means that it is unpaid as well. I’m very sorry to those who’ve come here expecting payment for their skills.



Requirements

Due to this project being unpaid, I won’t have high standards and expectations for you as a voice actor. But the least I expect is effort and passion put into voicing the role you’ve chosen. Thank you.


  • 18+

  • At least several weeks of experience doing voice work

  • Good Microphone Quality

  • Minimal Background Noise

  • Professional Recording Setup Not Required (You can use your phone if you want lol)

  • Your recordings must not contain excessive peaking/clipping

  • Some roles require heavy amounts of expression and emotion (i.e. shouting, yelling, exaggerated reactions, etc. all that anime stuff)

  • Ability to be available and easy to reach out to (Discord, email, etc.)

Final Thoughts

I’ve been a big fan of this series and I’ve always wondered when there would be a day where many other fans and I would see Hitomi and Yuu speak and move onscreen. And one day, I figured that I would take matters into my own hands; Utilizing my own editing skills and knowledge of directing. I felt the need that now was a good time to put together something that a community of fans can hold high for the manga we love.   • The Project is Back!

    Completely forgot this feature existed lol. Anyways, project is finally back!

    Scripts have been written that are direct translations of the original source material with added extra dialogue. This added dialogue to smoothen transitions between panels and overall improve viewing as a whole separating itself from just a regular comic dub.

    Editing has begun and several panels have already been animated. Can't wait to see how things turn out in the end! Deadline has been extended to August 31st.

Hitomi Takano is a shy girl that wants to be more social. She has an often misjudged outward appearance and presence, often seen as "intimidating" to others. When really, she's gentle and friendly at heart but simply doesn't know how to smile and socialize overall. Hitomi is incredibly athletic, capable of physical feats above the average person.

Hitomi isn't overly shy, but rather she's socially awkward, especially with new people. After getting to know her, she calms down and speaks confidently and normally.

Must have good sound quality when recording. Minimal background noise.

Looking for a slightly tomboyish and not-so-girly sound for this one.

Yuu Usami is an upperclassman and friend of Hitomi. He's a rather outgoing and friendly person and cares deeply about Hitomi. He's friendly and somewhat outgoing. He doesn't back down when faced with a challenge. Even if it's one far above his overall capabilities. He's rather short and is a lot less athletic compared to Hitomi.

Kaoru Usami is Yuu's younger sister. She's incredibly outgoing, friendly, and confident. She's more talkative than Yuu and is more bold and careless in her actions due to her naive nature (I mean she literally pulls up hitomi's shirt to see her abs lol). She isn't immature, but is very joyful and optimistic and can be mischievous towards her older brother when she catches him alone with Hitomi. She can be a big pervert sometimes.

An assistant animator would be awesome. I plan on working on the animation primarily myself but if you'd like to lend a hand that would be greatly appreciated!

You won't need to go heavy on the animation and editing. It'll only be slight and slow movements of animated character interactions and actions (i.e. talking, sweating, tilting head, etc.). It doesn't really matter to me what software you use to animate. As long as I receive a high-quality render of the animation I'll be satisfied. You must be at least experienced in animation.
