Hello Charlotte: Heaven's Gate
Project Overview
A 40-minute linear visual novel by Etherane.
This is a spin-off visual novel of their Hello Charlotte game franchise (I heavily recommend playing it if haven't), and is about the characters of Hello Charlotte, particularly Vincent Fennell (played by me), Charles Eyler and Anri Warhol in another universe. WIth some more additional characters
They each navigate life to come to their own terms or even speak up against how the world is (Anri's womanhood, Vincent's suicide). In the midst of their developing relationships, Vincent finds himself involved with an online cult called Heaven's Gate which quickly adds a new problem to their mundane, messed up lives. This is a very philosophical and thought-provoking game. This deep game handles sensitive topics such as abuse, stabbing, bullying, harrassment, cults, suicide, some horror imagery, talk of germs and implied SA. Please proceed with caution.
This is expected to be uploaded to youtube, and right now is free to play from itch.io.

[male, soft, mid] Has the most lines, and also does narration. The entire story is in his perspective. Charles is a very quiet and alienated person, he's incredibly insecure and softspoken, not understanding social cues (he doesn't do well in any sort of social setting). Charles is a very mature student and thinks of himself as a burden to some people, which is why he focuses more on other people's problems than his own. He cares deeply for Vincent and Anri. He's a pessimist and also has a severe case of OCD.

The older we get, the more disturbed and obnoxious everyone becomes. They're trying to connect, clumsily, erratically. Which I understand to some degree, but I've always been fine in my own company. Also Vincent's, but he can be tiring, too.
(very panicked) Anri?! What happened? Shit, okay, don't talk. Mom, call the ambulance!
I may be insignificant and frankly boring... But I'm going to do my best to become someone you can consider your equal. I'll keep doing my best, so... So you... so I... I want you to live.
Anri used to be a victim of bullying (will have to be performed too) before she met Charles Eyler, who mentions she is less stressed outside of school. Anri grows to be very crass and rude, not afraid to stand up for herself and talk back to people. Typical mean girl. The VA will be playing her bullied lines and also her development, so there should be a range in her voice from meek and timid to confident and sassy.

(meek, upset, sort of bitter) Why are you even here? It's not your turn to clean and they're waiting outside... if I go too early, they might think I'm slacking off.
(sassy) What do you think people should be talking about then, genius? And who are you to decide what matters and what doesn't? Hmph, your judgements are useless.
(weak, bitter) It sucks. I mean why do things like this happen? Can't everyone live in peace? Why must I be cautious of every person I see on the street? Why must I be scared of walking alone? I hate it.
Only has a few lines, and one scene. Super gullible and softspoke. She's the opposite of Anri, and finds herself being used by other people to do their homework. She's friendly and naive. Her voice should be light and soft.

Was it so wrong to believe them, Frei?
Still... If I don't do as they say, I'll be left all alone. This is all I'm good for, anyway.
(Only has one scene, a couple of lines) Frei acts as a voice in Charlotte's head that scolds her for being easily manipulated. Voice should be androgynous and/or leaning to soft male voice. Your acting will be edited to sound glitched and distorted to fit the character.

(teasing) Miss Wiltshire is a very earnest girl, after all. Too gullible for her own good. You see, what your so-called "friend" used was a keyword. A "password" that doesn't mean anything.
(stern) The true evil lies in muddled words, miss Wiltshire. Remember that.
I know aaaaall the words you want to hear. You may feel like you're never doing enough... But in reality you're always doing your best, aren't you?
Felix is a young scientist that is logical and very mature in the fields of knowledge. He is very serious about his work, however is also easily flustered. When he is upset, he often hides it. Felix is overworked and constantly tired, only letting a few people see the softer side of him.He is only in 3 scenes. Voice should be fitted for a young male, so androgynous or soft male. Role is open to everyone though

Patients with prefrontal cortex brain damage cannot experience emotions. To them, any decision seems as good as the other. For example, when I think of killing someone I care about, I'm overwhelmed with horror. It goes without saying that I'd never do it on a whim.
(sigh) Even though you're emotionally dead unless medicated, it's going to hurt like hell. Can't laugh about that... Stop it! That's not funny.
Do you believe in God, Bennett? ...I see. Then, it must be the same for me, too.
Only in a couple of scenes. Bennett is a soap-addict (although, he is sober for all of these scenes). When he's off the soap, he is completely different from his smiley self. Bennett is cold and depressing as he has to have multiple experiments performed on him to cure his disease. His voice should have rasp or grit to it, and be androgynous or male leaning.

Mr. Honikker. Do you think I'd act more rational if I killed my remaining emotions?
I don't think I'm capable of crying, either. Or feeling anything really. Everything is just... mundane.
If it's a smile, I can always give you one. (talks through a smile) See? Just like I was taught in the Labs.
This is only one scene, showing Charles in kindergarten. He is very timid and unsure of how to handle situations he sees infront of him. Very sensitive.

Just because we are bigger, that doesn't mean we should hurt them... Mom says even the smallest lives matter.
If you d-don't stop, I'll tell the nurses.
What's up with him... From that day on, I decide that I don't like Vincent Fennell at all.
