Graphic Passion
Project Overview
Graphic Passion revolves around Joaquin Paulino, a struggling artist from Vermont who, in a burst of inspiration, declared, "Fuck it! I'm making a movie!" He reached out to his friend Russell Rosemort, a recent Academy Award winner for a documentary he produced. While Russell initially hesitated, the idea of chronicling the journey of creating a low-budget animated film intrigued him. Plus, homies help homies. Depending on how Joaquin's film turns out, Russell's documentary might either be a tragedy or a comedy. As the series moves forward, we follow Joaquin's optimistic attempts to assemble a film crew and complete his ambitious project.

Joaquin is the central character in the series. Despite dropping out of college, he's driven by his dream of creating animated shorts and feature films. However, funding has always been a pain. While his storytelling skills might not be perfect, he's resourceful enough to gather a group of friends to enhance his projects. Fluent in both English and Spanish, he has a preference for speaking in English. Please use your natural voice to voice the character.

*Tell me what do you think on people calling animation a genre*
[Talking to the audience] (awkward but still determined) Hey everybody. Today I'll be focusing on storyboarding. Yipee, [chuckles] I'm going to be drawing for once. To keep it short, storyboarding is at its core, showing the production team how a scene is going to look. Following the description provided within the screenplay, it is the storyboard artist's job to try to accomplish what the director has in mind. Angles, facial expressions, movements, props, and other details that I can't come up with. It's truly an art in itself if you ask me.
[Russell is recording Joaquin with his camcorder] (confused) Do you really have to follow me around everywhere with that thing? Like, I'm not complaining because I agreed to this whole documentary thing and whatnot but, like, It gets on my nerves a bit, you know. I'm not used to people recording my every movement. Like, what if I have to use the bathroom? Will you follow me in there?
Russell, Joaquin's closest friend, is a laid-back yet professional documentary filmmaker. He lends a hand to Joaquin's dream of creating an animated film, contributing not only with his drawing skills but also by crafting soundtracks for Joaquin's projects. At the same time, Russell captures behind-the-scenes footage, planning to make it the focus of his upcoming documentary. He speaks fluent English and some broken French. Make sure to use your normal voice for the character.

[Russell, recording Joaquin with his camcorder] Well, as I live and breathe! Looks like I've stumbled upon the next Ralph Bakshi in action. Mind telling the audience what the hell you're doing, Joaquin?
[In Porky Pig's voice, addressing the audience] Th-th-that's not all, you fucks! No, seriously. That's not all. We still have so much to finish. So stay tune for our next update. Later days!
Samantha, discovered by Joaquin through an unusual online encounter, is a peculiar artist bursting with flair and charisma. Her unpredictable attitude, paired with her habit of murmuring her thoughts aloud, makes her presence distinct, to say the least. Allured by the quirky charm of producing a shitty low-budget animated film, she eagerly jumped on board as the second member of Joaquin's crew. She speaks English and Spanish, but like Joaquin, she prefers English. I'd recommend your normal voice for this role, but if you'd like to improvise a voice type, go right ahead.

*Tell me what's your favorite anime but say it in Spanish. Be honest.*
[Talking to Russell's camcorder] (sarcastic) This is going to be the most excellent film of all time and will not fail by any means! [fake laughter] Yeah, right. I'm not drunk enough for me to say statements like that yet. (laughs)
Penelope, Russell's older cousin, is a professional artist with an extensive background in high-budget animated television series and feature films. Although she once dreamed of becoming a voice actor, she set that aspiration aside after realizing that acting alone couldn't cover her bills. Nevertheless, the idea of voice acting still lingers in her mind. One day, Russell called her, seeking her assistance with their production and requesting filmmaking advice. Just like Russell, she initially had reservations, fearing her association with lower-quality products. However, she found Joaquin's passion intriguing and motivated her self to join their group. Plus, Russell said that he was going to pay her. Make sure to use your normal voice for the characters.

[Disappointed] Is this what I'm working with? A bunch of lowlife dabblers that don't really respect the medium of animation? Well, besides Shaggy and Beavis here. (sighs) Damn, I'm having second thoughts now.
[Talking to Russell's camcorder] (happy) Hör mir zu, Welt! I'm going to be famous someday! Jeder wird vor mir niederknien. (giggles) nur ein Scherz but just you wait, you idioten.
Trey was one of Joaquin's and Russell's bully duo in high school. Trey was the rowdy, stubborn, and impulsive one of the duo. One day, a stupid disagreement in the school bathroom led to the end of their friendship. As time passed, Trey pursued a career as a freelance musician and rapper. After realizing the little money he makes as a musician, he explored other job opportunities and is now a pizza maker. Joaquin reaches out to him after he needs a composer for his project, and after some convincing, adds him to his team.

(Angry) Yo, yo, yo, yo, yo! Why you running away for, pussy?! Be a man and fight back, foo! (gets punched) Damn! You didn't need to hit me that hard, man. I was just joking.
(Excited) Ahhhhh, shit! This one is surely going to get us off the street fo sho! Hell yeah!
Tommy used to bully Joaquin and Russell with Trey. Tommy was the strong, quiet one and often calmed things down. He made Trey seem scarier than he really was. But they had a big fight and stopped being friends. Tommy went to college in California and learned about sound and mixing. He also likes making music with old songs. Joaquin talked to him years later, and Tommy said yes. But he feels weird being around Trey again.

[Talking to his idiot companion] (sighs) Aight, listen up! Before you screw this up again, let's break it down one more time. Kick that door down, storm in, and do your little intimidation show. I'll knock 'em off their feet, snatch their bags, and take the good stuff. If they start causing trouble, we grab what we can and bounce. Understood?!
