GAME OVERVIEW
Ghosted: A Dating Sim is a dating sim about ghosts! Everyone dies, but why should that be the end of the search for romance? Explore the halls of the Old Manor alongside three (or maybe more...) romanceable ghouls, each with their own interests and takes on being dead. Search for love, loose change, and a purpose beyond life in this visual novel made by and for ghosts. Made by Teadop.
Some of the inspiration for this game: Gravity Falls, Monster Prom, Dream Daddy, Doctor Who, Undertale. This game is PG-13, with no intense horror or gore elements, but some sci-fi or spooky themes throughout.
INTRODUCTION
Hello all! I am looking for a handful of artists (and, eventually, voice actors) to help out with my thesis project. As a final-year Creative Writing student, I am making this video game to be turned in in late May. With about 15% of the overall game taking me a good two months to code, I have had to push art off, but as an important part of the worldbuilding, I need to outsource it to someone else!
I’m looking for a range of artistry skills, from assets and illustrators to sprite artists.
Payment can be discussed, but as this is a project with a delayed official release, I cannot guesstimate how much would be made from this, if anything at all. I cannot promise the game will even get an official release (though I’d very much like it to), and if it does, it will be post-grading, as this is my thesis. Basically, any payment would come out-of-pocket, so it needs to be in my budget, but I’m always open to discussing!
Artists will also be fully credited on the game's credit screen and on any website or marketing that may come with a full release (if this happens).
DEADLINES AND WORKLOAD
The deadline for applying is December 29th, 2025. I will notify chosen artists ASAP during the process, and may close the project earlier depending on how fast I find what I need. Work will take place over the next few months, as the finalization date will be late April or early May. I understand busy schedules and also have a lot on my plate, so we can talk about what kind of workload and pacing fits your schedule.
WHAT TO EXPECT
I communicate primarily through a dedicated Discord server of other artists I have already recruited. Here, I’ll give you anything you need to start, any inspiration I have, or starting qualifiers, as well as feedback on sketches and coloring. Everything we share and submit will be in a Google Drive, and I will occasionally make a PDF to share about inspiration.
WHAT I ASK OF YOU
HAVE FUN! I want this to feel like a project for everyone, and it’s not that serious a project. I want this to be a free space for everyone, especially if the trust of good work is built up. I want you to put your own spin on things.
Submitting things on time and as promised. We won’t be on an all-systems-go schedule, but it’s important to have a schedule to abide by. However, I understand life happens.
Listening to feedback and applying critique as given – there will be several playtesters going through this game, and their feedback on art, music, and graphics will help to shape the game.
Thank you for reading, and hope you apply! -teddie
