Flash: The Unforgiving Minute \ CLOSED

Project Overview

I decided to work on a second project while waiting for lines to come in for Transformers Armada. This will be an audio adaption of the first half of, "Secret Origins Annual 2."  It will be a one-shot. You can audition for more then one character if you can pull it off.

Wally West is attending his therapy session with Dr. Owen. Wally basically discusses his life; how he became Kid Flash, certain events, powers, and etc. A lot of it deals with his emotional state.

Rudolph and Mary West seemed to be a normal, middle-class family until their teenage son, Wally was struck by lightning and became Kid Flash, super-fast partner to the Flash. While he and his wife didn’t always see eye-to-eye, they did their best trying to raise a superhero.

  • Now, look, here, Mary… I won't have you babying him. He is my son.

  • Let's let your mom cool off for a minute. I'll talk to her.

Basically a younger version of Wally West in the flashback.

  • Aww, Mom…

  • That's not what I meant! Oh, what's the use?

Barry Allen: The Methodical Scientist. Long before he became the Flash, Barry Allen trained as a forensic scientist. His police training means he approaches super-crime as an investigator, not just a fighter, and his scientific approach allows him to come up with new and creative ways to use his speed. He discovered time travel, vibrating through objects, creating whirlwinds, and more in his time as the Flash. Barry is also a lifelong comic book fan, who maintains his collection with the same meticulous care that he uses in the crime lab.

  • And never think you're faster than I am! 'Cause you're not.. (repeatedly says "not", jokingly, awhile running circles around Kid Flash).

  • You don't want to be Kid Flash? You're quitting?

  • Look, son. I'm not God. I don't always know what's right. My personal life's a real mess and this trial's dragging on forever. Just don't make any snap decisions… close any doors… you'll regret it.

Typical 70s' wife and over protective mother.

  • It says here you were almost killed fighting this Mad Mod person. I hate this. I think you should quit.

  • All alright, dear. Just try and be careful.

Wally West: Living the Dream. All his life, Wally West wanted to be a super-hero like the Flash, and once he gained super-speed, he reveled in it. Barry might have felt embarrassed by things like the Flash Museum, but Wally welcomed the attention and fame.* (Exception: When Wally’s speed was killing him, he avoided everything related to it when he could.) This lends him a bit of a temper when things don’t go his way. While he doesn’t take Barry’s experimental approach to his powers, he’s quite willing to seek out experts when he needs to, incorporating knowledge and techniques from such varied sources as Max Mercury’s zen philosophy, Johnny Quick’s speed formula, and Savitar’s knowledge of the speed force.

  • Uh-huh. Look, Doc, could we ease this back over to my problems?

  • See, I know what you think of me, Doc. You think I'm spoiled, selfish and weak… that all I'm interested in are chicks and fame… that if people knew about me, they'd think I was a real jerk.

  • That was in Blue Valley. God, it seems like a million years ago. I guess I was about ten. It was a great time to be a kid. I guess everybody says that about their childhood, but mine really was… special…

  • ...And then she said, “Owen, you care more about your damned trophies and articles and neuroses than you ever did about our marriage!” Can you imagine? I think the woman's having a breakdown!

  • Classically, it's what boys feel who lose impressive father figures… a sense that nothing they earn is really theirs… that they will be revealed as“frauds.” But that may be a tad narrow. After all, don't we all feel sometimes, “What would they think of me if they knew who I really was?” Isn't that how you feel?

  • I'll see you next, ah, Thursday. And don't worry, these things have a way of working out. Ciao.
