Camilla's most notable trait is her strong motherly instincts, ones that are very specifically directed towards the Avatar. To this end, however, the maternal role that she plays in the Avatar's life has been portrayed as one that is rather excessive to the point of being uncomfortable at various junctures by even members of other armies. Through Camilla's interactions with the Avatar, it can be observed that she completely disregards the fact that they are an adult, choosing instead to treat them as one would a child. The language register she employs, for one, is remarkably juvenile and is commonly reserved for speaking to adolescents. Camilla's actions also prove this fact, as she constantly makes it a point to identify discomforts that the Avatar may not necessarily be experiencing in a bid to offer them her assistance. In this regard, she has been known to threaten death upon people whom she perceives will bring the Avatar grief.

Due to the heavy rejection, bullying, and discrimination she faced in her time as a princess in Nohr, and the distrust from some of the people in Hoshido due to said Nohrian ties, Azura developed a reserved and stoic personality, sprouting from her fear of provocation and rejection, only opening up to people she is close to. This stoicism can sometimes cause her to hurt others' feelings without meaning to, like in her support with Elise and though via bluntness rather than naiveté, as she is not afraid of telling someone what she thinks of them. She is well aware of these things, as she does not want this happening to her children, if she is married, and wants them to stay the way they are, rather than have them grow up like her.

Rowan is hotheaded, stubborn, and very excitable, and values combat and strength over strategy to win battles and protect the people he cares about. He is very brash, preferring to charge and crush the enemy underfoot rather then thinking things through and celebrating or boasting when he performs exceptionally well. He is not without humility as he only wants to get stronger to protect the people he rules over.

Lianna is clever and understands her own faults. She is also seen to have a high regard for manners and correct behavior, putting a lot of emphasis upon behaving as a royal should.

She is rather naive to the ways of political intrigue, as shown by her shock when she realized that rulers could take multiple spouses, and her disbelief of how they competed for the chance to have their children be the heirs to the Nohrian throne.

The Avatar's history is shrouded in mystery, making them the greatest enigma of the Shepherds. Despite this, the Avatar's skill in war tactics is unparalleled, allowing them to guide Chrom's army to victory over opposing forces greater in number and possibly even experience. They are highly ingenious, creating strategies on the fly and even whipping up "crazy" plans or new war tactics out of pure inspiration. Because of their strategic mindset, the Avatar is highly perceptive to the others' feelings, and can figure out the source of most people's inner turmoils in a matter of a few important conversations. Tiki notes that the Avatar is surprisingly similar to Marth, due to their charismatic nature and ability to befriend everyone they meet.

The Avatar is a kind person who cares deeply for the people they love and will come to the aid of anyone who should ask them for it, rapid-firing apologies if they do something to upset others, likely inheriting this habit from their father. Despite having been sheltered throughout all of their childhood, they are quite social and conversational, as well as persuasive to the point of convincing some enemy soldiers to join their cause. Aside from being unusually charismatic and attracting people to them, the Avatar is also mentioned to have a way with animals, as it is said the horses in the stables like them. As they spent the majority of their time growing up within the walls of Northern Fortress, the Avatar is very curious about the outside world, and quite eager to come across new sights. As proven by their support conversations with Silas, however, this trait of theirs has somewhat diminished over time. The Avatar is often shown to be very curious and nosy about the members of their army and desires to make friends with their allies even If they attempt to push them away such as Beruka who they still desire to befriend despite her threats. For the most part, the gender of the Avatar does not impact their personality as a whole, however, the male is more laid-back and sweet in his unique supports, while the female is peppier and feisty in hers.

While a very high-ranking noblewoman, Linde is not the type to sit around and watch the world burn around her, as though somewhat used to her priveledges, she endures many hardships that would break most people by adapting to the situation.

Olivia is extremely shy and withdrawn, but a dancing genius with many fans across the lands. She is shown to be insecure and a bit of a pessimistic thinker, especially when conversation comes to her own skill, and she is terrified of disappointing others. She states to Chrom that she is only good at dancing, which even then, she feels she is inadequate in doing, and this results in her stage fright. Due to her anxious demeanor, Olivia is easily startled, shown to cry out when surprised in at least one support conversation with nearly any one of her partners. This also displays her fear when surprised or when around strangers, likely caused by the time a noble attempted to abduct her. She can summon more of her strength than usual for the sake of others, often being judgmental and pushy in the process, and above all she wishes to make people smile. Her dream is to open her own theatre, and she is dedicated to seeing this dream realized.

Cold, calm and aloof, Navarre is depicted as the stereotypical lone wolf, where he has the tendency to work alone and entirely out of his own personal motivations. He has described himself as a killer, only utilizing his skills to improve his fighting abilities and is constantly seeking out stronger swordsmen on his quest for power. Thus he is not bound to any nation or cause except to the ones who will give him the biggest pay or will offer him the biggest challenge. He has not, however, completely abandoned his humanity, a fact that is evidenced through his resolve to not reign harm upon both women and children and instead seek to protect them. His actions in all the games that he appears in prove as much; In Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light, he defects to Marth's army on Caeda's behest due to not wanting to harm her; in Book 2 of Mystery of the Emblem, he defects from Dahl's thief band to protect Phina; in Archanea Saga, he protects Lena from a bandit and lends his blade to her cause. In the end, Navarre does not fight for personal glory, merely to hone his skill with the blade, but will fight for what is right in situations.
