WrBlPro Fandub Clip Casting - FFVII Fandub and Kingdom Hearts Storyboard

Project Overview

This thread is a general casting for our 'smaller' projects. Each character listed are characters that for whatever reason can't be filled, and each project are small one shots that have no commitment (unless you want to). There will be many audition threads like this in the future. For the moment, it will just be two projects.

CharlieCo's Kingdom Hearts storyboard dubs are regular on our channel (unrelated to the Still Thinking Films project). This one is called A Heffalump Never Forgets, based on a fan fiction. It includes Winnie the Pooh characters in the story. They all have brief appearances in the story, so the lines I need are included as audition lines. You might not even have to rerecord anything, if I like them. Like this other casting call, the vocal performances for the Disney characters must maintain a sense of familiarity, while being able to create new performances that fit the story the KINGDOM HEARTS manga is trying to tell with sincerity.

Final Fantasy VII Clips (will be dubbed FFVII: Theater Mode) are big 'episodes' that cover one story arc in the game. While there's interest in covering many parts, this project will be treated as a series of one shot clips rather than a 'full game dub', and you don't need to commit to the project, if you do not wish to. JRPGs are fun to record for, especially all we have to do is act and record footage and have complete freedom from lip sync. So I wanted VII to be more of a regular thing and do whatever arc we wish with no real commitment to finishing anything other than whatever scene we are on. If we do a lot of it, awesome. If not, no big deal. This casting call is covering the Shinra HQ raid and the Dyne encounter

Barret Wallace (OG Final Fantasy VII Clips) - BACKUP
open
Unpaid

Voice: Medium-Low to Low, Big, Loud (comically so)
[note: Don't have to be an impersonation. While I realize the localization is a bit too stereotypical in the portrayal of Barret, I would rather the voice not be stereotyped. He is a big, overly passionate guy, but when it comes to family and friends, he knows where his heart is]

Note 2: This role technically is already lined up. But, in case I need a back up, this is what this casting call is for.

Amount of Clips He's In: A lot....expect to be reprising a lot within the year. Course, I'll be asking you each time. If you can't, you can't. If you can, we keep going.

Bio: Barret fights passionately for his cause to protect the planet. He cares greatly for his allies, motivating them with powerful speeches, while also himself fighting on the front lines of his cell's operations. His seemingly benevolent cause of fighting for the planet is a cover for his personal vendetta and anger, which he later must come to terms with. Despite his brash and sometimes violent attitude, Barret has a good heart, and is torn between fighting and caring for his daughter, Marlene

  • Some bad people are... trying to hurt the planet. And Daddy... Daddy and his friends are trying to stop those bad people. The slums, your friends, the whole planet- it's Daddy's job to protect it.

  • Just a damn jackass, that's what you are..Yo, just think about it... How many people in this world do ya think really understand themselves? People get depressed in life because they don't know what's up. But, they go on living. They don't run away... isn't that how it is?

  • Mako is the lifeblood of our world. The planet bleeds green like you and me bleed red. The hell you think's gonna happen when it's all gone, huh!? Answer me! You gonna stand there and pretend you can't hear the planet crying out in pain? I know you can!

Dyne (OG Final Fantasy VII)
open
Unpaid

Voice Type: Medium to Medium Low, Rugged and Forelorn

Dyne was Barret Wallace's best friend, and they lived in Corel. Dyne is the biological father of Marlene. In his youth, Dyne was wary of outsiders and loved his old way of life. He was initially protective of the coal miners. Later on, Dyne was devastated by a number of tragic events which took everything he loved away from him, making him bitter and a nihilistic defeatist.

The party is accused of being the attackers and arrested. Without trial, they are summarily thrown into the Corel Prison. The party is told by Mr. Coates that they need the boss's (Dyne's) permission to get out of the prison. Barret meets up with Dyne, who, in grief over his family's death and the state of the world, states that he wants to destroy everything. To try and help ease his pain, Barret tells Dyne that Marlene is still alive.

While happy to hear this news, Dyne subsequently hints that he intends to kill Marlene and reunite her with Eleanor, thinking it will ease her loneliness, and as a result, he fights Barret. After Barret wins, Dyne claims that his hands are too stained with blood to ever have a right to hold Marlene again. His final act is to give his permission for Cloud and his party to leave the prison before committing suicide by jumping off a nearby cliff.

  • I hear her voice, Eleanor's voice. Begging me... not to hate your rotten guts. That's why I didn't hunt you down...

  • ....Why!? The hell do you care for!? Are the people killed going to understand 'why'? Are the people of Corel going to understand just hearing Shinra's excuses?

  • Think about it... Barret... How old was Marlene back then...?  Even if I did go to her now... she wouldn't even know me...And what's more... Barret....These hands are a little too stained to carry Marlene anymore...

Tigger (Kingdom Hearts Animatic)

Unpaid
Role assigned to: Artsy Noely

Voice Type: Medium to Medium-Low, Gruff, Energetic
Reference: https://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/voice-compare/Winnie-the-Pooh/Tigger/ (All the Disney voices, Paul Winchell is the original, Jim Cummings is the current voice)

Tigger is a resident of the Hundred Acre Wood, residing in a literal treehouse. When Tigger introduces himself, he often says the proper way to spell his name is: "T-I-double-guh-err." As Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day indicates, Tigger is Christopher Robin's latest stuffed toy, as the events of the short marks the first meeting between Tigger and Pooh Bear.

Along with his comedic personality and love of bouncing and pouncing, Tigger is known for his theme song, "The Wonderful Thing About Tiggers", in during which he boasts that he is the only tigger in existence. Practically speaking, Tigger's "I'm the only one" statement comes from being the only "tigger" ever made, if one takes into consideration the fact that Pooh, Piglet, Eeyore, and such are all stuffed animals, and homemade ones at that, Tigger is, in fact, the only tigger. Though some Pooh media make reference to Tigger's relatives, The Tigger Movie reaffirms that Tigger is, indeed, the only one of his kind.

  • This is a catasmotrophy! How can you eat at a time like this?!

  • But we need to find them now!

  • Hoohoohoohoo! Sora! Ol' buddy ol' pal! Thank goodness you're here!

Eeyore (Kingdom Hearts Animatic)
closed
Unpaid
cast offsite

Voice Type: Low, Grumbly
Reference: https://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/voice-compare/Winnie-the-Pooh/Eeyore/ (everyone that played the Disney version, the original VA is Ralph Wright, and Peter Cullen did it the most)

Eeyore is stuffed with sawdust and lives alone, underneath a small, teepee-style house made of sticks. A running gag is that Eeyore's home is almost always knocked over, forcing the gloomy donkey to rebuild it from scratch, usually at a different location. He has his own area in the Hundred Acre Woods known for its dismal atmosphere: "Eeyore's Gloomy Place", where he is typically seen sulking under a rain cloud or eating thistles.

Apart from his cynical personality, Eeyore's tail is perhaps his most defining trait. Despite being pinned down with a nail, Eeyore's tail frequently detaches from his bottom and winds up getting lost for a period of time. Christopher Robin is typically called upon to reattach it.

  • Don't get your hopes up.

  • No matter. Most likely lose it again, anyway.

  • Thanks, it's not much of a tail. But I'm sort of attached to it.
