F:GO Dub - Fuyuki
Project Overview
What is F:GO?
Fate: Grand Order (F:GO) is a mobile gatcha game taking place in the Fate franchise. Known for taking historical figures and turning them into waifus, Fate as a franchise has a long, convoluted history, a timeline that doesn’t always make sense, and storylines that are difficult to follow. Unfortunately, F:GO is no stranger to these pitfalls of the series. I’m hoping with some voice acting and a few minor script re-writes, the rich and interesting storyline will be more accessible to people who maybe skipped (or straight up didn’t understand) the story, as well as those who haven’t played the game altogether.
Payment
At this time, this project is unpaid. Should my financial situation change, I will absolutely change this casting call to reflect that actors will be paid, but I do not want to promise payment and be unable to deliver.
Requirements
XLR mics are preferred, but not required. Stand-alone USB mics (Yetis, etc.) are acceptable, however 9mm, webcam, headset, and built-in mics are not. Please record in a place with as little background noise and echo/reverb as possible, and ensure you are not peaking/popping on your takes!
Scope
At this time, we will only be recording for the first part of the story, Fuyuki, which is comprised of ~14000 words. Depending on factors such as reception, and production time, I may look to dub other parts of the game as well, from mainline story to event quests. Should this be the case, you may be asked to reprise your role - however, ability to reprise your role is not a requirement when auditioning.
Script re-writes?
The original F:GO localization team took a very literal approach to translating the original script. This unfortunately makes the English script very clunky and unnatural sounding in many places. On top of this, in later parts of the story, there’s several lines of blatant homophobia and transphobia that’s simply unacceptable to me, and to my mind must be written out.
About auditioning:
Please do not slate your audition. Reference voices will be provided, but you do not need to match the voice for your audition. Please do two takes of each line, and record in AA BB CC format. (So, line A take 1, line A take 2, line B take 1, etc.)
A word of caution before auditioning:
The stories told in later arcs of Fate: Grand Order deal heavily with figures from many different mythologies and religions. If you are heavily religious and are not comfortable playing in a space where figures from various religions' cannons are personified and, in some cases, made into villains, this may not be the project for you long-term. While you are welcome to audition for this project (as there is little to no heavy religious coding in the Fuyuki arc), I feel it is in the best interest of the project at large to be upfront about this, so there's no feelings of "I wish I would have known before I was cast in a recurring role" down the line.
A brief pronunciation guide:
Mash - Mahsh, with the "a" pronounced like the "a" in "swab". Not like Mash as in mashed potato. If it's helpful, her name in the original Japanese is "Mashu".
Chaldea - cal-DAY-ah
Sheba - SHEE-bah
Laplace - lah-PLACE
Spiritron - SPEE-rih-tron, like "spirit" and "tron"

Mash is a timid girl who slowly comes into her own during the course of the Fuyuki arc. At first she believes she is useless, having been cast off as a failure in the past. She's soft-spoken, with a medium-high voice. She uses she/her pronouns. Vocal reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i-bdEYJlyIY
This role may be asked to be reprised in the future.
I think we’re getting close to the leyline the Doctor told us about, Senpai. ...It really is just flames as far as the eye can see. This is nothing like the Fuyuki in our data. It was supposed to be an average regional city. There’s no records of a disaster like this here in 2004… The mana density here is abnormal too… it’s more like we’re on ancient earth…
...I’m glad you have such faith in me, but do you really think I can guard against the Sacred Sword? I’ve heard about King Arthur, and his sword… my hands are shaking just thinking about it…
I cant… fight… anymore.. Back-to-back battles… I’m sorry, Caster… rather than test my will… please teach me some solid theories…
Olga Marie is a woman desperately trying to carve her name into her family legacy. She's rough around the edges and only allows herself to lean on one person - Dr. Lev. This role has a hefty amount of techno-babble and world-building in the form of monologuing - actor must be comfortable delivering long stretches of lines. She uses she/her pronouns. Let’s see… the only thing I can think of is that history was disrupted here. Listen up, you two; I’m only going to say this once. Chaldea observes the Earth through a model called Chaldeas. You know this. What you probably don’t know is that we have a magical familiar called Laplace that compiles past records.
Quiet! This is what I mean when I said you’re still acting like students! I’m just telling you how things are around here. If you don’t like it, see yourselves out! ...Not that there are any flights you could go home on. If you’re ready to trek down a mountain in the snow, I commend you. [beat] No takers? Good! Seriously, what a waste of time.
No… no! Stop! Someone help me! I don’t want to die here! All of this… I did all of this to finally be praised by someone, anyone! I can’t die before I’ve ever been…! No one ever valued me, everyone hated me! No! Stop! No, no, no, no, no! Please, it can’t end like this…! No one… no one has ever accepted me, not from the minute I was born…!
Romani is a warm, though sometimes sarcastic, doctor who probably knows less than he should. He's got a good sense of humor and morals, though will often shirk work for a nap. Similar to Olga Marie, he can be prone to monologuing for world-building, but much less so than Olga Marie. Looking for a mid-range voice. He uses he/him pronouns. This role may be asked to be reprised in the future.
I mean, no, she is evil. You know that, right? She’s not cruel, or dishonest, or nefarious, I can promise that much. But she is evil.
Oh? Did he tell you anything about himself? He’s the mage who created the Near-Future Observation Lens, called Sheba - it’s a telescope used to observe the pseudo planet, Chaldeas. Not to be confused with this facility, Chaldea!
I’ll head down to the underground power station. We can’t let Chaldea’s light go out. Hurry up and get out of here; you can still make it. Listen to me: do not stop anywhere on the way, understand? Go outside and wait for help!
Ren is the everyman, the audience foil. Their role is that of the hero, but also of the audience's touchstone. It's mostly their job to repeat information they've just been told with a question mark at the end to get more explanation about the world, so that the audience may learn more. No vocal reference. The gender presentation of Ren's sprite will be determined by the cast voice actor, but the character will always use they/them pronouns.
This role may be asked to be reprised in the future.
Mash. Is everything okay?
Actually, I do have one question. Why is she calling me “Senpai”?
We have to fight, there’s no other option!
An Irish hero who was supposed to be a Lancer, but was summoned as a Caster. He's a bit of a pervy old man, but genuinely seems to know what he's doing. Looking for a mid-low range voice. He uses he/him pronouns. Vocal reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S1wBNTYf3dQ
...Listen, don’t think about defeating Saber, or her sword. All you need to think about is protecting your Master. That’s right up your alley, right? Leave finishing Saber off to me. I’ll do what I need to do, you do what you need to do.
Caster-class Servant, pleasure to meet you. These guys hate my guts right now. I don’t really believe the whole “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” thing, but for now, you can rely on me. In honor of your brave young lady, I’ll form a temporary contract with you, and fight as your Servant!
Our Holy Grail War changed into something else completely somewhere along the way. I don’t know how it happened. The entire city was engulfed in flames, and the humans vanished. Only we Servants remained. Saber was the first one to resume the War. They were like a tiger released from a cage. Archer, Lancer, Rider, Berserker, and Assassin were all defeated by Saber.
Doctor Lev is one of the leading professors at Chaldea - and also our main villain. He's playing the long game, and is easy to get along with at the start. Post-villain reveal, he's smug and "holier-than-thou." Looking for a mid-low voice. He uses he/him pronouns. Vocal reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9QQsRvmRDcc
Romani, are you there? We’re going to start the Rayshift soon. Could you come down, in case there’s an emergency? “A” Team’s in perfect condition, but teams “B”, “C”, and “C” are less experienced… they’re displaying some slight abnormalities. Probably comes from anxiety; the inside of the Coffins are like a cockpit.
Ren… so you’re the last one. The final of the 48 candidates. Welcome to Chaldea. I hear you were selected out of many public applicants… how long was your training? A year? 6 months? 3?
Behold your folly! Not a sliver of blue left on Chaldeas. Not a single light of human survival. Nothing left but red, bright light. This, this is the outcome of your mission here. Isn’t it wonderful? Once again, your incompetence has brought forth tragedy!
Saber Alter is the corrupted version of King Arthur. Her sole purpose in this instance is to protect the Holy Grail, and to obliterate anyone who stands in her way. Looking for a mid-range voice. Vocal reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6p07VIVh8A4
...Hmm. It seems my willpower has waned. I was going to defend the Holy Grail until the very end, but I stayed my hand at the last second. Ultimately, no matter how fate changes, I will always meet the same end if I’m alone.
I see. You have quite the interesting Servant with you, Caster.
Da Vinci is one of the few Servants summoned to Chaldea - she's a bit vain, but good at what she does. Looking for a mid/mid-high range voice. They use they/she pronouns. Vocal reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JyYokvEBYJQ
Trans talent preferred for this role.
This role may be asked to be reprized in the future.
Hm? Ah, the hero of the hour. Are you awake now? Good morning, Ren Tachibana. Welcome back to the world of the living.
I’m Da Vinci, one of the collaborators at Chaldea. Or perhaps you know me better as the third Heroic Spirit summoned to Chaldea? Anyway, we’ll talk more later. Someone’s waiting for you in the command room.
Come on, Ren, time to get up. From here on out, you’ll be the center of this story. Make good choices, okay? Our fate is in your hands.
Extras needed for minor roles throughout the script!
[AI announcer] Generator operation stopped. Power level critical. Attempting switch to backup generator. Error. Please make switch manually. Containment wall will close in 40 seconds. Those remaining in the Central Area, evacuate immediately.
[Master] Hey! I didn’t sign up for this! We’re experts who were summoned here at your behest! We came all this way on your insistence. And now you demand absolute obedience? Don’t be ridiculous!
[Deranged Assassin] Hahahaha! Futile! Fight, then die! Run, then die! The demise of the futile, oh so miserable!
Extras needed for minor roles throughout the script!
[Aloof Lancer] What a waste of time. I could have handled this on my own.
[Master] They’re right, you’re way out of line! Lineage is the most important thing for a mage, and you’re going to just brush it off like it’s nothing?!
[AI voice] Scanning Coffin Vitals. Master’s Baseline not reached. Rayshift requirement not met. Searching for qualifying Master… Master found. Candidate Number 48, Ren Tachibana, reset as Master. Summon Program initiated. Spiritron Conversion initiated.
