Envy the Dead: Alternate History Audios
Project Overview
Hello!
Envy the dead is an alternate history, non-narrated audio drama series set in the 1970s. It follows a group of people from Sweden trying to survive an indirect nuclear attack. Its goal is to portray what a relatively normal group of people’s reaction to such an event would be, realistically. This group of people believes that sweden will collapse into chaos and thus embark on a journey to escape to somewhere safer.
I am producing this series alongside @whi_24, we've been planning this series since June of 2023. So far, we have 11 episodes planned and 6 written. They are all about 30 minutes long. We plan to release the episodes in two phases. Episodes 1-6 are phase 1, episodes 7-11 are phase 2.
This Casting Call is for the main set of characters. They appear in almost all episodes we have planned so far. I will make further Casting Calls for other characters.

Sara is a pessimistic former postal worker who got fired over nonsense. Doesn’t care much about her family. Parents used to abuse her. Doesn’t want to speak of it. Doesn’t like children because her parents favored her sister. She talks without really thinking.
She is one of the main characters and will be there throughout the entire series

SARA: (to herself, confused) It’s all so… Quiet. Maybe because the two are still knocked out. No birds though... What happened? Did the power plant finally blow up?
SARA: I grew up in Lulea, a city in the north. Moved here when I was 22.
SARA: (panicked, trying to prevent something) Nonononononononnonono! Don’t do that!
Anders (Male) is a former security guard for the government in his late 20s. He is brash and tough on the outside, but quickly warms up to the others. Quite friendly once he does.
He is one of the main characters and will be there throughout the entire series

ANDERS: There was nothing I could do! Those army guys forced me out of the parliament building and I couldn’t get back in! It was twenty against me! I held up a pretty good fight up till then!
ANDERS: Not for me, I’m still on duty.
ANDERS: Did we get away from the Soldiers?
Åsa (Female) is Magdalena's babysitter when the attack happened. So now she is stuck with her. Åsa is in her late teens. Likes children, gets very angry at Magnus and Phil for saying bad things around the child and being sexist.
She is one of the main characters and will be there throughout the entire series

ÅSA: We’re on the outskirts of Stockholm, there should be a gas station here...
ÅSA: I don’t know, they might be saying stuff you shouldn’t hear.
ÅSA: Watch your language. Just do your job, please…
Phil (Male) is a stereotypical american redneck. He's in his late 50s. He left the US after dodging the draft and now lives in sweden. Still very patriotic about the US. He's kind of a jerk who hates most people. He is a doctor.
He is one of the main characters, but dies in episode 6.

PHIL:(to Magdalena) Right, doesn’t seem like you have Tonsillitis or any of the other things you were worried about.
PHIL: (agressive) Think you’re better than me, huh? Just because I didn’t have my full term in the army?
PHIL: (relieved) And anyway… It seems they aren’t interested in us…
Magnus (Male) is basically the swedish counterpart to Phil. Magnus is also in his late 50s and is also a jerk. The two don't get along. Unlike Phil, Magnus has served in the army and often points this out to the others.
He is one of the main characters and will be there throughout the entire series

MAGNUS: I say it’s our only option. Come on. Anders, you take us to their base thing.
MAGNUS: I have definitely seen you somewhere before…
MAGNUS: (distantly) Bloody young people nowadays…
Magdalena (Female) Is 9 or 10. She is upbeat, but obviously quite scared because of the situation. We'd need a VA who can imitate the voice of a child.
She is one of the main characters and will be there throughout the first season.

MAGDALENA: (upset) I don’t feel too well-
MAGDALENA: Is it that thing over there?
MAGDALENA: Maybe we can be friends with him!
Mik (Male) Is the speaker for the last remaining radio station. On air, he's professional and formal. In person, he's kind of a controlling jerk.
This character appears recurringly throughout the series. Is not really involved with any of the other characters.

MIK: (on radio) We interrupt our regular programming to bring you breaking news from the Soviet Union.
MIK: (on radio) Do not exit your Homes. Government Orders. Seek shelter immediately.
MIK: (in person) Exactly! We’re the only ones still on the air. Everyone listens to us. We are the only source the people can rely on.
