Endsley - A New Rock Opera

The story is a fictionalization of the events leading up to the Tennessee asylum fire of 1863.

It all starts with a gunshot. A gunshot with which John W. Endsley kills a man. Because of his history of seizures and brain damage, he isn't given a trial. Instead he is sent to The Central Insane Asylum under the care of John H. Calender. Endsley is the title character of this musical and therefore caries most of the songs. He is clever and manipulative when he needs to be, selfish when he has to be, and kind when he can be.

John H. Calender runs Central Insane Asylum with religious fervor. He believes that the issue is not one of mind, but one of soul. The ill are being punished by God for a reason. While he is stern, he does on occasion question whether or not he is doing the right thing. These questions usually come about during ether delusions.
