Project Overview
THIS IS AN ENGLISH DUB OF THE PSYCHOLOGICAL HORROR GAME DOKI DOKI LITERATURE CLUB.
PLOT:
Doki Doki Literature Club! (DDLC) is a 2017 freeware visual novel developed by American independent game studio Team Salvato for Microsoft Windows, macOS, and Linux.
The story is told from the perspective of a high school student who reluctantly joins the school's literature club on the insistence of his best friend from his childhood, and is given the option to woo three of its four female members. Doki Doki Literature Club! features a non-traditional plot structure with multiple endings and unlockable cutscenes with each of the main characters. Although the game initially appears to be a lighthearted dating simulator, it is in fact a psychological horror game that extensively breaks the fourth wall.
Sydromedia is going to dub over the game as one of it's dubbing projects. It will be in the style of many visual novel games, where certain scenes are fully voice acted, while others just have small catchphrases for the dialogue
REQUIREMENTS:
- YOU MUST HAVE A PROFESSIONAL SOUNDING MIC. If there is too much noise in the background of your submission or the mic is very low quality, you will not be accepted.
- I WILL NOT ACCEPT AUDITIONS FROM PEOPLE YOUNGER THAN 16. If you are under 18, please don't audition, but if you do I won't accept any younger than 16. This game features mature topics. It should not be played by those younger than 18.
- This game has swearing. It's NOT mild and you must be okay with that.
- You must be committed to giving in your lines by before the dead line and as soon as possible. We work on a tight schedule and I have had to deal with people not doing their work on time before, all it does is halter the project and make you seem less professional unless you have a valid reason for why you cannot submit it at the time.
- If you are accepted, you must work with a respectful attitude and not harrass myself or anyone else working on the project. If you do, we will not give you a warning before removing you from the team, as toxic behavior is not acceptable.
HOW TO AUDITION:
Please title your audition file with the following template: "[Name of actor]_[First name of character]"
Ex: "SusieSmith_Sayori"
With your audition, write out your past experience with voice acting (if you have any) or if you have experience in other forms of acting, put those down there. It would also be helpful to know your age but I won't force anyone to release that information.

The other characters describe Monika as intelligent, confident, and athletic. She is not as talkative as the other girls, but it is hinted that this is not by choice. Monika is also known to be highly popular, which makes the protagonist admire her. She is always depicted as mature and hardworking, with a serene, compassionate expression on her face.
That's okay! Don't be embarrassed! We'll make sure you feel right at home, okay? As president of the Literature Club, it's my duty to make the club fun and exciting for everyone!
Natsuki's right, isn't she? This club...it's nothing more than a place for a few people to hang out. Why did I think that everyone here saw it the same way as I did? Why did you even join this club? What were you hoping to get out of it? In fact...if I remember, you weren't even given a choice not to join.
About that whole thing with Yuri...well...I kind of started to mess with her, and I guess it just drove her to kill herself. Ahaha! I'm sorry you had to see that, though! Also, the same thing happened with Sayori...gosh, it's been a while since you've heard that name now, hasn't it?
Sayori is initially portrayed as the character archetype of a Genki Girl, expressing a bubbly and cheery disposition. She is very clumsy, noted for finding ways to accidentally hurt herself or to drop random things. Regardless, she is shown to be a jokingly cunning individual who can trick others to get food. Sayori is also known to obsess over activities that she loses interest in later. She states that writing poetry and studying literature is different to her than those other interests because it helps her explore her feelings.
Later, however, it is revealed that she suffers from bad depression and works so hard to make the people around her happy to cope with her own lack of self-love amongst other things. She is also usually the only character, other than the protagonist, shown to break up arguments, Monika noting that her sentiments are necessary to keep a relaxing atmosphere in the Literature Club.
Sayori is also introduced as the protagonist's childhood friend. The protagonist seems to view her as an airhead and slightly annoying at the beginning of the game, but he starts to sympathize with her after she confesses about her depression.
I was talking about how I'm worried that you won't learn how to socialize or have any skills before college. Your happiness is really important to me, you know! And I know you're happy now, but I'd die at the thought of you becoming a NEET in a few years because you're not used to the real world!

I don't know anything... It's all really scary... I don't understand any of my feelings... The only time I'm not feeling nothing is when I'm feeling pain. But... Your hugs are so warm... ...And that's really scary, too.
Yuri is portrayed throughout the majority of the game as being shy, generous, polite, apologetic, very intelligent, mature, eloquent, and passionate about topics she is interested in, although she is also very insecure, awkward, and has a tendency to act slightly condescending and patronizing to mask her self-doubt.
Her crush on the protagonist becomes an unhealthy obsession. This also causes her to become invasive and condescending to the other club members.
Stories with deep psychological elements usually immerse me as well. Isn't it amazing how a writer can so deliberately take advantage of your own lack of imagination to completely throw you for a loop? Anyway, I've been reading a lot of horror lately... If a story makes me think, or takes me to another world, then I really can't put it down. Surreal horror is often very successful at changing the way you look at the world, if only for a brief moment.
Taking out your own insecurities on others like that...You really act as young as you look, Natsuki. Sorry that my lifestyle is too much for someone of your mental age to comprehend! If you want to prove anything, then stop harassing others with your sickening attitude! You think you can counterbalance your toxic personality just by dressing and acting cute? The only cute thing about you is how hard you try.

I can’t make it stop. It even makes me not want to read... I just want... ...to look... ...at you. ...Haah...Ahahah...Ahaahaahaa...”
Natsuki appears to be a brash, blunt, cranky, and even arrogant girl at first, but she has a cute, softer interior, causing her to be known as a tsundere. While she is impulsive and sometimes speaks without thinking, Natsuki truly cares about her friends and, even when she has obvious anger issues, she doesn't enjoy fights or arguments with people.
It is shown that she is a very lonely person who desperately craves affection from anyone. It is heavily implied that she has a bad home life.
