Dirty Method was only a concept in the year of 2020 during the height of Covid, when I doodled a character on my iPad in a Zoom meeting class. From there, the story only drew as I gave that character, a crew, and then a backstory, and then imagined him going on adventures and collecting bounties, all while being isolated in my home, during the pandemic. I imagine this character being snarky and full of himself, and being his own worst enemy while traversing the stars. It was after I graduated high school that I was convinced that I would make this something real so that other people could see what I had imagined and enjoy it as well.
While the main aspect of the show is action and drama, there is an underlying layer of queerness that will also be explored through the characters. I didn’t want it to be the main aspect of the show because usually, in most queer people’s lives, it is not the main aspect of who they are as a person, but it does affect their life in major ways.
Along with queerness, the show will also explore trauma and how that shapes a person as they grow up, and how it affects the decisions they make in their life.
The final project animatic only has a few more drawings before it is complete, other than adding in voice lines! The pitch for this project will be in a few months, and afterward, we will run a second Kickstarter for animation funds.
Alex is a 37-year-old human bounty hunter and captain of a crew. He’s a bit rough around the edges, clinically sleep deprived, and a functioning alcoholic who chain smokes. He has a short temper and is happy to punch first and ask later. When he’s not pissed off, he’s cocky and egotistical.
“ you were one slippery bastard” ( with a bit of a grunt, he is pulling the bounty off the ground)
“I heard that one before, now keep walking.”
“ Good, nice quick job- Let’s get him dropped off and collect the money- maybe get a drink afterwards to wind down?” ( a bit more upbeat, he’s excited to get payed and get back to drinking)
Erion is a charismatic and strong-willed man, working as the Second in Command on a bounty-hunting spacecraft. He's a bit silly, enjoying a good laugh and being friendly with my fellow crew members. He doesn’t extend this to the bounty’s, however, while being kind, and not as cruel as his captain, he still keeps in mind that these are criminals.
The voice actor will be doing promo stuff, doing Erion's voice for a 3-question Q&A that will be shown at the Thesis proposal. In the first episode, he has no talking lines, but if people enjoy the pilot, a second episode will start to be produced. where he will have many lines!

The bounty is the second main voice in this short film. He is a low-life criminal, captured by Alex Qual, and is very insistent that he should be let go, and any excuse he can come up with to convince his captors that he isn’t worth it. He has a very Annoying but masculine voice.
