Star Wars - Darth Maul: Son of Dathomir (Comic Dub)

Project Overview

Hello, my name is Captain George (yeah I know not the best name) and I want to dub the Star Wars comic "Darth Maul: Son of Dathomir". I know it has already done before by other people, but I want to bring my own spin on one of the most episodes of the Clone Wars.

Here is a description of the comic from Wookieepedia.

"Star Wars: Darth Maul—Son of Dathomir is a four-issue canon comic book mini-series written by Jeremy Barlow, with artwork by penciller Juan Frigeri, inker Mauro Vargas, colorist Wes Dzioba, and cover artist Chris Scalf. The miniseries was published by Dark Horse Comics beginning on May 21, 2014, and concluded with the fourth and final issue on August 20, 2014. A trade paperback was released on October 1, 2014 and re-published by Marvel Comics on November 21, 2017.

Son of Dathomir is an adaptation of unproduced scripts from Star Wars: The Clone Wars, which was part of the television show's sixth production season. The episodes that Son of Dathomir was based on were not completed and therefore not released as actual episodes. The story is part of The Clone Wars Legacy line."

I will leave auditions open for the max of 3 months unless I get lucky and auditions proceed faster than expected. then it leaves me to edit, which might take quite a bit, then to render the videos (1 video being 1 of the 4 part comic series), then upload it, then set it to where it will go public on a schedule. Good microphones are required, no need for cheap $10 ear buds with mics. Please state in your audition or in a comment the mic you are using.

  • Hard Drive Failed.

Hello There. A week or 2 ago the hard drive I was using pulled a Padme and lost to will to live. The important files were able to be saved, but this has pushed my scheduling off; thus to give me more time and allow more time for people to try I am pushing the deadline back. Once I get some things in order I will pop back and start casting those who I believe most fit the roles.

Aayla Secura, a Force-sensitive Rutian Twi'lek female, was a Jedi Master who served as a Jedi General of the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars. Prior to the Clone Wars, Secura learned the ways of the Force as the Padawan of Jedi Master Quinlan Vos. With the outbreak of civil war between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems, Secura and her fellow Jedi supported the Republic by becoming officers in its newly-formed military.

I would like an attempt made at trying to sound like the way she does in "Star Wars: The Clone Wars". But due to here only having little to no lines, you are free to sound different. The French accent, however, is a must, due to the fact that Twi'leks have that accent.

Example: https://youtu.be/FGMabAyZPpI

  • Sometimes it takes courage to stick to one's beliefs, Young Padawan.

  • A strong belief can be more powerful than any army.

  • I am sure you are aware that the Jedi did not initiate the clone wars. Our only intention was to end it and restore peace to our galaxy.

B1 battle droids, also referred to as standard battle droids, were the most widely-used battle droids manufactured by Baktoid Combat Automata and Baktoid Armor Workshop, and were the successor to the OOM-series battle droids. Even though they were widely produced and deployed the B1 battle droid was flimsily designed and easy to destroy, and was only truly successful in large numbers. Early versions of the model also required the use of a Central Control Computer, but despite these weaknesses they saw extensive service as the mainlines soldier of the Trade Federation's mechanized droid army. The droid army was deployed during the Invasion of Naboo, and after landing B1 battle droids marched into the Naboo capital of Theed, and using the massive army the Trade Federation captured the city. The droids continued to keep the Trade Federations's grip on the planet throughout the occupation, and the majority of Federation droid troops were deployed to combat the Gungan Grand Army at the Great Grass Plains. In the ensuing battle many militiagungs were killed, but the entire droid army was defeated because it shut down when the control computer was destroyed with the Federation’s Droid Control Ship by the young Force-sensitive pilot, Anakin Skywalker during the portion of the battle that was in space.

Try to sound simi-similar, I will make it more high pitched in editing

B2 super battle droids, simply known as super battle droids, were an advanced battle droid used by the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars. Super battle droids were much stronger than their predecessors, and like the updated B1s used by the Confederacy, they did not require a command system to operate, which gave the droids limited independence. Another improvement was their thick armor casing, which contained their fragile sensors. However, B2s were designed with simple processors, limiting their ability to formulate strategies. As a result, they relied on organic commanders or tactical droids in order to effectively operate. The B2 was much stronger than the B1s, with enough strength to lift a clone trooper off the ground as seen at the Battle of Teth. Despite this a variant for close range combat, the B2 grapple droid, was created.[11] The B2-HA super battle droid was a variant of the B2 equipped with a cannon arm that could fire homing rockets. This variant could be seen commanding small units, as could be seen on Rodia. Two other variants were designed with flight capabilities. These were the B2-RP, and its upgraded variant the super battle droid rocket trooper.

Brother Viscus was a male Dathomirian Nightbrother who lived during the Clone Wars. He lived in the Nightbrother village on Dathomir, where he supervised the tournament in which Asajj Ventress tested Nightbrothers to determine who was worthy of becoming her apprentice.[2] Shortly thereafter, he and the Nightbrothers attacked Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker when they went to the village looking for information about Savage Opress, who had been chosen as Ventress' apprentice and had killed Jedi. After the brief engagement, Viscus pointed the two Jedi towards Mother Talzin and allowed them to leave in peace.

Try to sound similar to the way he sounded, but he is such a minor character you are free to do your own take.

Example: https://youtu.be/HEHsWjCGGyk?t=22

Clone troopers, also known as Republic troops, Republic soldiers or the "Boys in White," were highly trained soldiers in the Grand Army of the Republic. Bred on the extragalactic planet Kamino, clone troopers were engineered by Kaminoanscientists—using the human bounty hunter Jango Fett as a genetic template for the entire clone army—and represented the latest evolution in galactic warfare, having been designed to be superior to battle droids, by the time the Galactic Republic entered its final years. Their formal introduction to the galaxy as the newly formed Republic military coincided with the Separatist Crisis that ultimately spawned the Confederacy of Independent Systems. The ensuing conflict, the Clone Wars, was named for the clones that made their debut on the Separatist world of Geonosis in 22 BBY, marking the first engagement in the first pan-galactic conflict since the founding of the modern Galactic Republic approximately one thousand years prior.

This one needs to sound like Dee Bradly Baker's clone voice from "Star Wars: The Clone Wars".

BX-series droid commandos, also known as commando droids, were advanced battle droids used by the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars. BX-series commando droids were advanced, sturdier versions of B1 battle droids. They were programmed with improved combat tactics and battlefield awareness and equipped with glowing white photoreceptors. Captains and other high-ranking commando droids bore white identifiers on their heads and chests.

Try your best to sound like the commando droid.

Role assigned to: Arkham

Dooku, a Force-sensitive human male, was a Sith Lord who led the Confederacy of Independent Systems as Head of State during the Clone Wars. Although he was once a Jedi Master, Dooku left the Jedi Order and the Galactic Republic after growing disillusioned with the corruption in the government. Turning from the lighthe once served as a Jedi, Dooku joined the dark side of the Force and became the apprentice of Darth Sidious, the Dark Lord of the Sith, taking on the name Darth Tyranus and reclaiming his title as the Count of Serenno. With his master, who was secretly Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine, Dooku conspired to overthrow both the Republic and the Jedi so that the Sith could reclaim their former dominance. To this end, he oversaw a growing secessionist movement that ultimately resulted in the formation of the Confederacy of Independent Systems. In addition to rallying rebellious star systems to the Separatist cause, Dooku was involved in the creation of the clone troopers of the Grand Army of the Republic, having supplied the Kaminoans with the clone template, Jango Fett, as well as the inhibitor chipcontaining Clone Protocol 66. As a result of Dooku and Sidious's machinations, the galaxy became engulfed by the Clone Wars twenty-two years before the Battle of Yavin.

This voice is a big part of the series, and this needs to sound very close to Corey Burton's Dooku from "Star Wars: The Clone Wars".

Example: https://youtu.be/Ntb8kpgW_n8

  • Stop using your standard attacks, Use the unorthodox.

  • Your swords please, gentlemen. Let's not make a mess of things in front of the Chancellor.

Tiplee was a red-skinned Mikkian female Jedi Master who, along with her twin sister, Tiplar, served the Jedi Order and the Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars. Tiplee and her sister were commissioned as Jedi Generals in the Grand Army of the Republic, and the two fought in the Battle of Ringo Vinda. During the campaign, Tiplar was murdered by clone trooper CT-5385, nicknamed "Tup," after a malfunction in the clone's control chip that triggered a premature activation of Clone Protocol 66, a Sith-implanted command that forced clones to kill Jedi as traitors. Tiplee was present at the time and watched her sister die.

Mace Windu, a Force-sensitive human male, was a revered Jedi Master and member of the Jedi High Council during the last years of the Galactic Republic. During his time in the Jedi Order, he once served as elected leader of the Jedi and, during the Clone Wars, as a Jedi General in the Grand Army of the Republic. He was the greatest champion of the Jedi Order and promoted its ancient traditions amidst the growing influence of the dark side of the Force in the corrupt, declining days of the Republic.

When the Separatist Crisis spawned the birth of the Confederacy of Independent Systems and sparked the Clone Wars, Windu and the Jedi rallied to the defense of the Republic and became the leaders of the Grand Army of the Republic. Throughout the war, Windu served the Jedi and the Republic in various capacities—on the battlefield in command of the clone army, on Coruscant as an overseer of the war effort and an advisor to Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine, and even as a diplomat to contested worlds, despite his disdain of politics. His exploits on the frontline served as a reminder of his reputation as a renowned Jedi warrior.

Mace Windu should sound similar to his performance by Samuel L. Jackson. Here is a clip of how he was in "Revenge of the Sith": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W0efr3g9fW8

Maul, formerly known as Darth Maul, was a Force-sensitive Dathomirian Zabrak male who lived during the final years of the Galactic Republic and the subsequent reign of the Galactic Empire. The son of Mother Talzin of the Nightsisters, he was taken at a young age by the Sith Lord Darth Sidious, who anointed his first Sith apprentice Darth Maul. Through his training, Maul grew strong in the dark side of the Force, becoming an expert lightsaber duelist and assassin who yearned to reveal the Sith's continued survival to the Jedi Order. During the crisis on Naboo in 32 BBY, Maul confronted Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and Padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi. Although he succeeded in killing the former, Maul was defeated and maimed by Jinn's apprentice, who left the Sith Lord for dead. As a result of Maul's defeat and apparent death, Sidious replaced him with Count Dooku, Jinn's Jedi mentor who adopted the Sith persona of Darth Tyranus.

Fueled by his hatred for Kenobi, Maul survived and reconstructed himself as a cyborg, although the experience of his defeat also drove him insane. He was presumed dead for over a decade until his brother, Savage Opress, found Maul and restabilized his mind with the help of Mother Talzin. By that time the Clone Wars raged across the galaxy, with the Jedi-led clone forces of the Republic battling against the droid armies of the Confederacy of Independent Systems as intended by Maul's former Sith Master. Believing he had been cheated out of his place in galactic history, Maul embarked on a personal quest for revenge against Kenobi, whom he blamed for his fate. He also used the galactic conflict as an opportunity to form his own criminal empire, the Shadow Collective through various alliances which included the Pyke Syndicate, the Black Sun, and the Death Watch. Their combined resources enabled Maul to overthrow the New Mandalorians and install a puppet government on Mandalore. However, as his power and influence increased, Maul became a threat to Sidious' own plans for the future. The Dark Lord confronted Maul in person; after killing Opress, Sidious denounced his former apprentice as a Sith no longer due to the Rule of Two. Despite Maul's efforts to avenge his brother, he was defeated and overpowered by Sidious' command of the Force.

Due to how important this character is to the entire project, I need somone who is dedicated in being Maul. It would be wise for whoever is wanting this role to attempt their best Sam Witwer Maul impression, or do a voice that gives me the feeling that it is Maul. Example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T56UHVAhydo

  • I was apprentice to the most powerful being in the galaxy once. I was destined to become… so much more.

  • I am surprised you could have forgotten me so easily, after I killed your master, and you left me for dead on Naboo!

  • There is a purpose for everything in the galaxy, and a way to destroy it.

Talzin was a Dathomirian female who lived during the final decades of the Galactic Republic’s reign and became a formidable figure of power during the Clone Wars. On her homeworld of Dathomir, Talzin lived as a shaman and Clan Mother of the Nightsisters—a coven of Force-sensitive witches who used magicks to manipulate the wilderness around them and rule their male counterparts, the Nightbrothers. Talzin’s expertise in magicks was significant enough to attract the attention of the Dark Lord of the Sith, Darth Sidious, who came to Dathomir ostensibly to trade dark side Force teachings with Talzin and take her as his own Sith apprentice. Instead, the Sith Lord abducted Talzin's son Maul and took him as an apprentice in her place. Years later, he was presumed dead at the Battle of Naboo after sustaining mortal injuries, but his strength in the dark side allowed him to remain just barely alive. Although Talzin was aware of Maul's incredible survival, she was unable to rescue him and thus remained on Dathomir to plot her revenge against Sidious and his Sith, with her ultimate goal being galactic domination.

She is not a main character, but a very important one. Do your best to sound like her, if not that's fine: https://youtu.be/UojE1L5HbgE?t=37

The Narrator for "The Clone Wars" was voice by Tom Kane, the voice of Admiral Yularen and Master Yoda. It's is crucial that you attempt to replicate this voice as it helps create the feel of "The Clone Wars" TV Show.

  • A galaxy divided by war! Peaceful worlds must choose sides or face the threat of invasion. Republic and Separatist armies vie for the allegiance of neutral planets.

  • War in the Expansion Region! As the Separatists tighten their grip over vital but isolated supply routes, the Republic launches a lightning strike into a remote ghost nebula to control the strategic system of Umbara.

Almec was a male human from the planet Mandalore, and a one-time believer in the pacifist ways of Duchess Satine Kryze. During the Clone Wars, Almec served as the Prime Minister of Mandalore and did as he thought best to watch over and represent the interests of Mandalore. His dedication became his undoing, however; when Mandalore declared neutrality in the Clone Wars and became cut off from Galactic Republic aid, Almec established a black market trade network to bring much-needed goods to the Mandalorian people. These smugglers poisoned the people of Sundari with toxic tea, putting numerous children in hospital. Almec was exposed as the leader of the black market network and summarily imprisoned for his crimes.

When Darth Maul took over Mandalore, he broke Almec out of prison and reinstated him as Prime Minister, with Almec declaring loyalty to Maul and his Death Watch allies. Following Maul's capture and imprisonment by Darth Sidious, Almec saw to it that Maul was rescued and brought back to the Death Watch.

Like every other role, I would prefer the audition to sound like the way the character did in "Star Wars: The Clone Wars". but due to his very small role, it's not a strict requirement.

Example: https://youtu.be/2q30W6lCjlY

  • Master Kenobi, Mandalore's violent past is behind us.

  • Mandalore would never turn against the Republic. The Duchess Satine values peace more than her own life.

  • Because of Master Kenobi's recent visit and the trouble that followed, no offworlders may carry weapons on Mandalore.

Darth Sidious, a Force-sensitive human male, was the Dark Lord of the Sith and Galactic Emperor who ruled the galaxy from the fall of the Galactic Republic to the rise of the Galactic Empire. Rising to power in the Galactic Senate as Senator Sheev Palpatine, he was elected to the office of Supreme Chancellor and, during the Clone Wars, accumulated wartime powers in the name of security. As the Emperor, he dropped the facade of Palpatine, no longer needing to cultivate two identities, and henceforth ruled as Darth Sidious in thought and action. His machinations brought an end to the last era of peace in galactic history, replaced a millennium of democracy with New Order fascism, and restored the Sith to power through the destruction of the Jedi Order.

"The Clone Wars" Palpatine was voiced by Ian Abercrombie  and thus should the person attempting to play the role do their best to sound like him. It's preferable that the same person to play Palpatine would also do Sidious. When it comes to Sidious it's important that he does not sound like the Emperor, he has not gotten there yet.

Example of Ian Abercrombie's Palpatine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2dW3VcQlxs

  • Do what must be done, Lord Vader; do not hesitate, show no mercy.

  • Get help. You're no match for him. He's a Sith Lord.

Super tactical droids were advanced tactical droids that had command capabilities during the Clone Wars, acting as generals of the Separatist Droid Army. One such droid was Kalani, who was in command of the Confederacy of Independent Systems forces during their occupation of Onderon.

They would often resort to threats and torture as interrogation routes. These droids were created to analyze a battle, calculate a possible battle-winning solution, and a time frame to carry out their plan. Being programmed with Separatist beliefs, they ruled through fear and through the lack of courage and hope in their victims and specifically "freedom from the tyranny of the republic." Although Super Tactical Droids were not directly involved in combat, they were able to effectively use self-defense and an E-5 blaster rifle.

He served as Captain of the Guard, however later, the Black Sun became a member of Darth Maul's Shadow Collective after Savage Opress, Maul's brother, killed the leaders of Black Sun for refusing to join Maul's cause. Due to this, Moj became the subsequent leader of the Black Sun, and as a member of the Shadow Collective, Moj fought during the Death Watch coup on Mandalore to help further the Shadow Collective's goals.

As a leader of Black Sun, Ziton attempted to force the Pyke Syndicate's leader Marg Krim to merge their two syndicates. When Krim refused, Ziton kidnapped Krim's family in an effort to force Krim to reconsider his decision. Ziton kept Krim's wife Tezzka Krim and their children Vram and Laalee hostage at the Black Sun fortress on Mustafar. However, the bounty hunters Asajj Ventress and Quinlan Vos rescued Krim's family and returned them to their father. In retaliation, the Black Sun sent a fleet to attack the Pyke Syndicate's stronghold on Oba Diah.
