Synopsis
13 participants, 1 battle royale of wits, all in the name of science!
Danganronpa: Mortalis Perpetua - A Live(ish)-Action Visual Novel
What happens when a group of 13 kidnapping victims are placed in a…. really nice facility? Told they can live there peacefully? Told that all of their needs would be provided for, with absolutely no catch? What seems to be the problem?!
Only that if they wish to leave, they have to successfully murder one of their fellow captives and get away with it.
When exactly that happens, this ideal, peaceful life becomes a tense game of whodunnit. Everyone is forced to investigate and hold trial, where they must actively deduce who the culprit is - under the added pressure of: if they vote incorrectly, all of their lives are on the line for execution!

About the Project*This is a labor of love. A non-union, free, fanproject, webseries, made entirely by human hand and with human work. We are strictly against AI usage in all forms.
Mortalis Perpetua began as an idea between 3 college roommates way back in the lost years of 2014. Hot off the heels of Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair's U.S. release, creators HP&XPShow on YouTube thought to themselves "what if we tried to make a visual novel like this, despite having absolutely zero artistic talent at all."
When they brought a proof of concept to their group of friends, they were pleasantly surprised to hear resounding excitement for the project. These were theatre kids, after all. And in the following year of 2015, Mortalis Perpetua: Truth/Lies Here began production. Developing a strong cast of characters, principle photography consisting of about 40+ poses for each one, and voiceover sessions to capture those classic, Danganronpa-style quips for dialogue.
Releasing on their YouTube channel in January of 2016.
The project would enjoy a few golden years of active production. However, this would all cease just after the first murder victim's reveal. Nothing would be heard from HP&XP regarding the project for roughly 7 years...
With one proof of concept video being posted to TikTok by one of the original creators in 2020. Which is where our founding members first laid their filthy eyes on the project.
We are Team D.I.S.B.O.I. and with permission from the original creators, are carrying their torch. To create a compelling, stylistically unique, and faithful fanproject of the Danganronpa-variety. To ask ourselves, "What would a 3-way baby between Danganronpa, Zero Escape, and Ace Attorney look like, if it also couldn't draw?"
Why We are HereWe are continuously humbled and thankful for the response to our revival of the show. Thanks to community support, we have produced 5 full episodes, 12 first installments of every character's free time events, and are in the process of creating our first MURDER TRIAL. Something that would hardly be complete, without full voice acting.
However, we find ourselves in something of a bind. The original cast is about 10 years removed from the project, and not all of them (for very valid reasons) are able to record new lines for a fully voiced trial.
As such, after careful consideration, we have made the decision to open up a Casting Call for voice actors and actresses to help us breath new life into our characters - while still remaining faithful to the original sound and personality that the original cast imbued in them, 10 years ago.
We are looking for voice actors. We are looking for impressionists. We suppose we are being picky, but we are looking for perhaps something in between.
RequirementsIf this project interests you - first of all, thank you! We would be absolutely honored to receive and listen to your submission for our show! In an attempt to maintain professionalism and order throughout the submission process, we ask that you please keep these requirements in mind:
All voice actors must have a Discord account for communicating with our director. There are no requirements to join any Discord servers, however.
Our director would like to do live voice acting recording sessions with the talent for the handful of trials and cutscenes we may produce going forward. We think this may be a big ask, but if possible, we would like to make this happen.
Voice actors must be at least 16 years old. If you are under 18, you will need a guardian to sign any NDA's or other confidentiality agreements.
Good quality audio, recorded with at least a USB or XLR microphone. (Please no mobile phone, or headset mics. (I mean, you could probably still submit those if you want to make us chuckle)).
This is currently a deferred position, as far as payment goes. At the moment, we are a volunteer-based fanproject. If there ever comes a day when we can LEGALLY make money off of the project, we would absolutely love to pay our voice actors. As of now, that isn't exactly on the horizon. But want to at least acknowledge some potential sliver of possibility in the form of a spin-off or if there something comes our way. Hence the deferred label. But we're like, 99% sure it's a no-go, okay?
Character NotesEach character will have a small description to give you a feel for their personalities and motivations. IN ADDITION, each character will have a 25-second vocal demo consisting of lines from their original actors, listed as YouTube links at the beginning of their descriptions. Please listen to them and use both the demo + the description to facilitate the direction of your audition. It is important for us to note that, while we would like our voice actors to be at least somewhat close to the character's original voice, please do not let the demos stop you from auditioning for a character. Even if your voice isn't a complete match, if we feel your audition fits a character well, we would absolutely love to work with you.
THAT SAID, PLEASE BE SURE TO LISTEN TO THE CHARACTER'S DEMO! IT WILL SERVE AS A GREAT LAUNCHING PAD TOWARDS WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR.
ConfidentialityFast forwarding into the future, let us say you receive a callback or a role. Thank you for letting us cast you! In that event, we will also ask that you sign an NDA that simply prevents any materials, scripts, or non-public information regarding the project from being shared. Confidentiality plays a huge part in ensuring the production of a murder-mystery is successful! To reiterate, if you are 16+ but under the age of 18, we will require a guardian of yours to sign.
