Cryptid Keepers

Cryptid Keepers

Project Overview

Hello everyone!

I’m Bucky, creator of Cryptid Keepers, an original animated series. We’re now producing a high-quality Pitch Pilot/Proof-of-Concept to showcase the world, characters, and unique animation style to studios and partners.

This is your chance to be part of the very first episode of a series we’re building from the ground up — and to potentially join the core voice cast for the long haul.

SERIES LOG LINE “When Art Murray gets recruited into a secret organization, The Keepers, he finds himself relearning everything as he gets thrust into life-threatening adventures, makes connections with others, and unlocks secrets about the world he thought he knew.”

PROJECT OVERVIEW Cryptid Keepers is a half-hour animated sci-fi/fantasy series that follows a secret global organization whose job is to keep the worlds of humans and cryptids separate. The story centers on the coming-of-age adventures of a group of young recruits.

Blending the premise of Men in Black with American Dragon: Jake Long, the mystery of Gravity Falls, the worldbuilding of Huntik: Secrets & Seekers, the emotional depth of TMNT 2003 and Avatar: The Last Airbender, and the witty humor of Jackie Chan Adventures, the show delivers adventure, heartfelt character arcs, suspense, and hope. Never mean-spirited or overly cynical.

The full Pitch Pilot script, complete storyboard, character profiles, and Series Bible are ready and will be provided to all cast members.

TONE & STYLE Adventurous, heartfelt, witty, and hopeful. We’re aiming for dynamic, Spider-Verse-inspired animation with a mix of humor, mystery, and emotional stakes that appeal to both younger viewers and adults. Faith-inspired cosmology is handled respectfully and organically as imaginative fiction built around Biblical themes, but never preachy.

COMPENSATION & PROJECT DETAILS This is an unpaid volunteer collaboration for the Pitch Pilot/Proof-of-Concept. Selected performers will receive:

• Full credit in the finished pilot

• High-quality portfolio material and a direct link to the completed episode

• The complete set of production materials (script, storyboard, etc.)

Performers who stand out will be offered priority consideration for recurring paid roles in future episodes and seasons if/when the series moves into full production. We’re building a core team for the long haul, and we’re excited to grow with the right voices.

DEADLINES Audition deadline: Sunday, May 17, 2026 at 11:59 PM PDT (Pacific Time). We will notify selected voice actors by May 20 and begin recording shortly after.

WHAT WE ASK OF YOU

• Clean, professional recordings (quiet space, good mic preferred — we can handle light noise reduction)

• Three best takes per line (no effects or heavy processing please)

• Commitment and enthusiasm — we’re looking for collaborators who are passionate about the project

• All lines delivered as a single .WAV or .MP3 file via the method provided after casting

WHAT TO EXPECT A welcoming, collaborative environment. We’ll communicate primarily through Discord. You’ll work directly with the creator and have input as we shape this pilot together. The goal is to create something truly special that we can all be proud of.

If Cryptid Keepers sounds like the kind of project you’d love to help launch, we’d be thrilled to hear your audition!

Thank you for your time and talent. Let’s make something extraordinary.

Latest Updates

  • Casting Announcement – Sunday, May 24, 2026

    Hey everyone!

Auditions for the Cryptid Keepers Pitch Pilot are now officially closed, and we have our cast!

A huge, heartfelt thank you to every single person who submitted an audition. The response was fantastic, and hearing so many talented voices bring The Keepers to life has been genuinely thrilling. We read and listened to every single submission, and the level of passion and talent made this an incredibly tough (but exciting) decision.

    Our Official Pitch Pilot Cast:

    • Skadi – CaitlinDiVA

    • Mari – Myuna

    • Nate – Eddie Cho

    • Cain – Conner Gooden

    • Miscellaneous Roles – Patrick H., Kat Mackay, Joey Turner, and Will Patterson

We are still actively searching for the right voice for Art (our lead and narrator). Even though we received several strong auditions, we ultimately didn’t find the exact youthful Scottish lilt and warm, witty charm we’re looking for to carry the heart of the pilot. To those who did audition for him, don't let this discourage you; Art has a very specific aura to him, and it wasn't an easy search.

We’ll keep the search open a little longer and will update everyone if and when we make a casting decision for him.

To everyone who auditioned but wasn’t selected this time: Please know this was an extremely close call across the board. You all did fantastically, and many of you are being kept on our backburner for future episodes and projects. We genuinely mean it when we say the decisions were tough; your talent and enthusiasm made this pilot feel real, and we’re so grateful you took the time to be part of it.

Selected cast members: You should be receiving a direct message from me through Casting Call Club very shortly with full project details, script, storyboard, and next steps. Please keep an eye on your CCC inbox!

Thank you again to every single person who contributed to this milestone. We’re one giant step closer to bringing Cryptid Keepers to life, and we couldn’t have done it without you.

    More updates coming soon!

    ~Benji "Bucky" B.

Art is a bright, witty, slightly awkward Scottish transfer student who has just been recruited by The Keepers. A gifted cryptozoology nerd with a sharp mind and sharper tongue, he’s used to being the quiet kid who gets teased back home. Now he’s been thrust into a secret world of cryptids, magic, and life-threatening missions.

In the pitch pilot he serves as our warm, relatable narrator through extended voice-over, revealing his thoughtful, self-deprecating humor as he adjusts to American life and tries to make friends with his new study-group teammates. He’s optimistic but realistic, genuinely kind, and quietly determined to prove he belongs, even when his social skills and endurance are tested.

Voice Direction: Clear, youthful Scottish lilt. Think a younger David Tennant or a lighter Tom Holland with a proper brogue: melodic, rolling “R”s, but still crisp and easy to understand. Intelligent and articulate with a natural warmth that draws the audience in. He can deliver dry, self-deprecating humor with perfect deadpan timing, then flip into genuine excitement or quiet vulnerability. Slight hesitations and “uh…” filler moments when he’s over-thinking social stuff are encouraged; that awkward charm is key. No overly thick accent; clarity for comedy and emotion is essential.

Key traits to capture:

  • Intelligent and articulate, but endearingly awkward when he over-thinks
  • Dry Scottish wit that can turn into playful sass
  • Warmth and vulnerability underneath the clever exterior
  • A growing sense of wonder and courage as he steps into his role as a Keeper

  • Hmm... I won’t say it’s been easy. If I'm being candid, some days it feels like I'm going to be eaten alive! But, I'm still here... For now...

  • Speaking of challenges, I finally managed to break out of my shell and make friends with some of the other students on campus!… Well, actually, we’re all the same class… And, our teacher sort of put us altogether in the same— Okay, so I didn’t talk to them as much as get assigned to the same study group! But, we all kick back and hang out, so I’m counting it as a win!

  • When they said “Roc Star” I thought they meant some great cryptid veteran. Not a giant bird the size of a jumbo jet that snacks on elephants!

Role assigned to: CaitlinDiVA

Skadi is an elf who serves as the cool-headed strategist and de facto leader of the young recruits. She’s steely, determined, and almost impossible to rattle; the kind of person who keeps the group focused even when everything is literally falling apart around them.

In the pitch pilot she’s shown reading hardcore horror novels with a completely straight face (blowing and popping bubblegum the whole time), casually revealing she’s an elf like it’s no big deal, and remaining deadpan while half-buried in a giant Roc’s nest. She has a very dry, sarcastic sense of humor and a glass-half-empty worldview, but underneath it all is a fiercely protective friend who genuinely wants to safeguard the fragile peace between humans and cryptids.

Voice Direction: Cool, collected, and slightly world-weary for her age. Think a dry, deadpan delivery with razor-sharp sarcastic timing. Imagine a younger Raven (Teen Titans) or a more grounded Amity Blight (The Owl House) with just a hint of ethereal elfin quality. Her voice should feel clear and pleasant but never airy or “fantasy princess.” She rarely raises her volume; instead she leans on perfect control, minimal emotional display, and quiet confidence. Even when delivering darkly humorous or dangerous lines, she stays unflappable. Slight competitive edge when bantering with teammates is encouraged.

Key traits to capture:

  • Unflappable stoicism even in absurdly dangerous or ridiculous situations
  • Dry, deadpan sarcasm with perfect comic timing
  • Quiet confidence and natural leadership
  • Subtle protective warmth toward her small circle of friends

Mari - Voice Actor

Role assigned to: Myuna

Mari is the youngest member of the team and the brilliant, hyper-organized science prodigy of the group. She’s the resident chemist, CSI, and medic who can turn a dorm-room chemistry set into baked ice-cream or solve complex puzzles on the fly.

In the pitch pilot she’s shown meticulously experimenting with vials, reacting with wide-eyed delight to cute cryptids (then instant “OH NO” when things explode), and keeping her cool under pressure while the older teammates lose theirs. She’s competitive, meticulous, and driven to prove herself, but her youthful enthusiasm and big heart make her the emotional glue of the team.

Voice Direction: Bright, youthful, and full of energy. Think a younger Honey Lemon (Big Hero 6) meets Willow Park (The Owl House) with that meticulous, slightly competitive edge. Clear American accent (no heavy regional dialect needed), articulate and fast-paced when she’s geeking out over science or cryptids. She can flip from wide-eyed “Aaaaaawwwww” delight to precise, frustrated “Look what you did!” in a heartbeat. Keep her voice warm and relatable; even when she’s overworking or panicking, there’s an underlying sweetness and determination that makes her instantly lovable.

Key traits to capture:

  • Super-smart, precise, and detail-oriented (the “tightly wound” perfectionist)
  • Bubbly, genuine excitement for science and cryptids
  • Competitive edge that shines when she’s “in the zone”
  • Young, energetic warmth that balances the group’s heavier personalities

Role assigned to: Eddie Cho

Nate is the team’s brilliant but prickly tech genius and terrain expert. A wheelchair rollin' teen who refuses to let anything slow him down. He’s snide, antisocial, and quick with a cutting remark, especially when underestimated or frustrated. Underneath the rough exterior is a fiercely loyal friend with razor-sharp perceptiveness and unyielding conviction.

In the pitch pilot he’s shown aggressively trash-talking his videogame, snapping at teammates during training, and trading dry competitive barbs with Skadi while still pulling his weight in chaotic cryptid situations. He’s the guy who notices every detail others miss and channels his cynicism into getting the job done, no matter how impossible it looks.

Voice Direction: Sharp, snide, and full of attitude. Think Toph Beifong (Avatar) or Rocket Raccoon (Guardians of the Galaxy) mixed with Zuko’s edge: gravelly teenage American voice with a quick temper and dry delivery. He can go from low-key cynical muttering to full-on explosive gaming rant in a heartbeat. Delivery is fast, biting, and confident; even when he’s complaining or snapping at teammates, there’s an underlying competence and loyalty that keeps him from sounding mean-spirited. His voice is strong, clear, and commanding when he needs to be.

Key traits to capture:

  • Sharp, sarcastic wit with a short fuse
  • Competitive and defensive, especially about his wheelchair
  • Tech-savvy intensity and quiet perceptiveness
  • Gruff exterior hiding real loyalty and determination

  • english

Cain - Voice Actor

Role assigned to: Conner Gooden

Note for Auditioners

Cain has only one spoken line in the Pitch Pilot script. That single moment is extremely important; it’s the audience’s first real introduction to his commanding presence, unflappable calm under pressure, and the subtle steel that defines him as the leader of Keepers North America. Nailing this voice and energy is a fantastic way to show us exactly what you can bring to the role. Performers who perfectly capture Cain’s tone will be given strong priority consideration for the permanent, recurring (and eventually paid) role as the series moves into full production.

Cain is the stern, no-nonsense Director of the Keepers. An enigmatic man who keeps a tight ship while shouldering the weight of countless secrets. Tough but fair, uncompromising yet deeply protective of his agents (especially the young recruits of our main cast), he speaks with quiet authority and rarely raises his voice, outside of giving orders or in the middle of the action.

In the pitch pilot he appears as an intimidating yet composed presence in his office, handling paperwork one moment and calmly neutralizing a threat the next. He is perceptive, strategic, and always in control, even when half-blind and operating in the dark.

Voice Direction: Deep, commanding, and gravelly adult male voice with calm authority. Think a blend of Nick Fury (Marvel) and Agent K (Men in Black); low, measured delivery that carries natural weight and intimidation without shouting. He speaks with quiet confidence and precision. Even his driest lines should feel like they have steel behind them. Slight world-weary undertone is encouraged, but never melodramatic. Clarity and control are key; every word lands with purpose.

Key traits to capture:

  • Calm, steel-edged authority that commands instant respect
  • Stoic, measured delivery with subtle dry wit
  • Quiet intensity and hidden warmth beneath the rigid exterior
  • Natural leadership that makes people sit up straighter

Language:

This is an umbrella role covering all the smaller speaking and reacting parts throughout the Pitch Pilot. Multiple people are welcome to audition and likely to be cast. You’ll voice multiple minor characters in the bustling Keeper HQ scenes. Everything from bureaucratic travel agents and impatient cryptid travelers to panicked victims, security officers, and Keeper agents trying to keep order.

These roles are short but memorable, full of comedic timing, exaggerated reactions, and quick personality flashes that help sell the chaotic, lively world of The Keepers. Think colorful one-off lines and sound effects that add energy and humor to the pilot’s opening sequence.

Voice Direction: Versatile and energetic! These are short, colorful supporting roles that require strong comedic timing and the ability to create distinct, memorable voices quickly. Some characters are straight-laced professionals whose composure cracks; others are chaotic cryptids or panicked victims. Delivery should feel alive and reactive; big personality in small moments. Clean recordings with clear enunciation are essential; feel free to lean into fun creature-like qualities (growls, hisses, high-pitched screams) as long as the lines remain understandable. We’re looking for actors who can bring the bustling, weird energy of Keeper HQ to life.

Key traits to capture (across the various roles):

  • Quick, distinct personalities that pop in just a few lines
  • Strong comedic timing and physicality in voice (screams, sighs, impatience, professionalism cracking under pressure)
  • Flexible range: humans, humanoid cryptids, and everything in between
  • Professional yet slightly frazzled energy that fits the “secret boarding school for cryptid keepers” vibe
