Welcome to the world of Crestfall, an audio drama based on original characters and stories in a fantasy setting. The story of Crestfall is an ensemble piece featuring a variety of characters from different regions and societies of the Realm, told through an audio drama/podcast format.
Summary/Synopsis
Before humanity arrived in the Realm, three serpents were each given the power to wield one of three elements: Inferno, Glacier, and Storm. They believed that their purpose was to teach humanity how to harness these elements, when humanity did in fact come into existence. The serpent with the power to harness Storm, Shenlong, discovered a fourth element: Darkness. Shenlong twisted the element into a form that could be more easily contained, which he dubbed Blight. His brother serpents, however, believed the element too dangerous to gift to humanity. In a fit of rage, Shenlong killed his brothers.
Stricken with immense guilt, he flew off to a distant island and isolated himself from the rest of the realm. He would never interfere in any living being’s affairs ever again. When humanity arrived, they had no guides. No shepherds or harbingers of power to teach them how to wield the elements. They were left to discover for themselves.
500 years after humanity first arrived in the Realm and began to wield the elements of Inferno, Glacier, and Storm, a man known to history and legend now only as "The Apothecary" discovers the element of Darkness. He used it in a desperate attempt to bring his deceased wife back to life, only to find that his reanimated wife would not be the woman he remembered, but a zombie-like monster. Filled with grief and horror, The Apothecary became corrupted, turning into a demonic beast that wreaked havoc on the largest human settlement in the realm before he was miraculously stopped by what ancient texts name "The Cult of Luminance". The Cult is described to have wielded a fifth element, the power of Light, to stop The Apothecary, before vanishing, never to be seen again. Many doubt that the Cult of Luminance or The Apothecary ever even existed.
Hundreds of years later, the Realm is largely split into various settlements based on what element you were born with the ability to wield. The Stormborn reside within the deep forests, commanded by their "queen", Tempest. The Glacierborn set up camp in the harsh cold of the Southern Mountains, ruled by King Verglas. The Inferoborn orbits around the capital city of Infernus, in the far east, ruled by the eccentric King Midas.
When a young woman harboring an obsession with the story of The Apothecary begins causing strife within the Realm with the power of Darkness, the various kingdoms of the Realm must put aside their politics and differences to unite against a common threat.

Prince Frost is the son of the legendary King Verglas, ruler of the Glacierborn. At the end of Episode 4, Verglas is tragically killed in battle. Frost is very fond of his father, seeing him as a role model for him and has the utmost respect for Verglas. When the Foretold Queen takes over as the new ruler of the Glacierborn, Frost struggles to accept this "replacement". In order to combat Ethereas and for the future of his people, Frost will need to find who he is and who he wants to be without his father.

The Foretold Queen is an entity born under unknown circumstances after the passing of King Verglas. She is brought into this world knowing her purpose is to lead and rule over the Glacierborn people, but she is uncertain as to where she came from. She has noble intentions, but her naivety sometimes interferes with her goals. She attempts to fill a motherly role in Prince Frost's life, despite his resistance.

You have all experienced an undying loss. I promise you I will do everything in my power to banish this "Ethereas" from the Realm. The Glacierborn are not dead.
It is truly otherworldly to finally meet you, sorceress. It is unfortunate I will not be able to allow you to leave.
The reclusive lord of the Blight clan, taught by Shenlong the Blight serpent how to harness Darkness and twist it into a usable form. Shenlong is believed to be dead, but lives among the Blight clan in a distant, remote isle. Iyakami's clan is known by few, but among those few, is considered incredibly controversial. Iyakami is confident in his practice, however, and believes that Blight and the use of it are not only morally permissible, but a natural step forward in humanity's power evolution. He is adept at weathering critiques and a master of composure. He is soft spoken but stern and commanding.

I presume you ask me why I let Shenlong instruct me in harnessing Blight. He showed me the truth. Told me a story. I believed him.
believe in intuition, and I believe in consequences. Shenlong was lead to kill his own brothers, whom he loved, and felt remorse for his actions, even before he murdered his siblings. I believe it is not outside the boundaries of common sense to say guilt is often an indicator of wrongdoing.
My dear Purist. Blight is the next evolution of humanity. We were not meant to be shackled to our prototypical form. We can become more.

The iron-fisted ruler of the Northern Mountain Ranges, the Governor of the North keeps his people secluded, but well-fed...if they're human. The Governor is a cruel ruler towards those outside his clan and those he deems "unworthy". He is confident and brash, firm in his ruthlessness.

The self-proclaimed harbinger of truth. The Purist knows the legends of the dragons, and denounces the heresy of Shenlong. The Purist is a vigilante with several notable Blight clan kills under their belt.

Do you not see it? Let us consider this legend as true. The brother serpents were sent to this Realm, each with an element, with no instruction. Who told them they were not meant to use their powers to their fullest potential? No one. Furuio and Tumrentam merely ‘felt’ as if they were restricted to their respective abilities.
