Cowboy Bebop Fandub (Episodes 1-5)

Cowboy Bebop Fandub (Episodes 1-5)

Project Overview

Welcome to the official page for the unofficial fandub of Cowboy Bebop!

This will be an ongoing project (as noted by the title) so anyone cast MUST have commitment. I cannot stress enough how important this is. If you are not willing to have commitment to a particular role, DO NOT AUDITON.

Now that we got that out of the way, here are a few ground rules.

-Good mics. Trying to make this seem as profesional as possible.

-Once again, commitment.

-Passion for the show - I want people having fun doing this just as much as me.

-Do your absolute best. Do not bullshit your way through this.

Now, onto the big question - why is this only for the first 5 episodes?

Well, since Bebop is mainly an episodic show, most characters appear only once. As such, we will be casting for specific episodes at a time. And some characters are not hear due to people having already been cast in those roles.

If you don't get picked you still have a chance of getting picked up in a later casting call.

I am also looking for UNIQUE performances. DO NOT COPY THE ORIGINAL ENGLISH DUB. As good as it is, we are doing a redub with a new translation.

The leader of eco-terrorist organization who claims to be fighting for nature. She wishes to infect the moon of Ganymede with a virus that will turn everyone into apes.

An over-the-top performance would be very much appreciate here - almost like a performer.

  • "Hey kid, did you know the Ganymede sea rat is highly endangered and peaceful animal?"

  • "Please, don't associate us with terrorists! We are warroirs of peace, fighting for nature and harmony!"

  • "Now all of you, become apes!!!!"

A notorious serial pet thief who constantly uses reconstructive surgery to remake his face, and even his body. This makes him especially hard to capture and leads to a wild goose chase.

Since he has reconstructive surgery all the time, be creative with how you make him sound - nothing too crazy though.

  • "I've got the goods - this one should be something big. I'll meet you in four hours."

  • "Bounty hunter? Animal rights activist?"

  • "I want to postpone the meeting a bit. It's not that big of a deal - what do you mean impossible?!?"

A criminal casino owner who recruited Faye in order to recieve a special chip that contained the ability to unlock any secruity device. He plays by his own rules and is not afraid to get dirty.

  • "I didn't know the master of the casino, the legendary Poker Alice, was still alive."

  • "I don't know who you are but I would like that chip back."

  • "When you confirm you got the chip, kill them all."

Judy is the female co-host of Big Shot. She is portrayed as ditzy and a stereotypical "dumb blonde", usually asking all of the questions for Punch.

Similar to Punch, I want a stereotypical "cowboy" accent, with the flavour of dumb blonde as well.

  • "And now it's time for Big Shot, the show that tells all about fugitives!"

  • "And on the bright side, he's a whopping 8 million Woolongs!"

  • "If you kill him, kiss the reward goodbye!"

Punch is the male co-host of Big Shot, a TV show dedicated to bounty hunting. He seems to be the more intelligent of the two, responsible for much of the info on the bounty hunters.

Since Big Shot is a stereotypical western cowboy show, a unrealistic, stereotypical "cowboy" accent is what I am looking for here.

  • "Oi amigos! All 300,000 bounty hunters in the star systems, how y'all doing?"

  • "Shucks howdy! Up first today is this ombre, Abdul Hakim, a notrious serial pet thief! In his lastest scheme, he stole an innocent animal from a laboratory and is still on the loose!"

  • "Our standard is that you must be bring this fugitive in alive and undamaged!"

The main antagonist for the first episode of the show, and a former syndicate member who is now dealing in Red Eye, a drug which increases adneraline. He has a bounty of 2.5 million Woolongs on his head. He main goal, however, is to escape to Mars and start a new life.

Deep and menacing voice is needed here, but you can experiment if you wish.

  • "Yeah... keep those eyes open..."

  • "He would've been dead in another minute. I wanted to see him die."

  • "So, do you have any Bloody Marys?"

Jet Black

The father figure of the Bebop, Jet is quite the tragic figure. Having left the ISSP due to corruption on the force, he became a bounty hunter out of necessity, not out of his own free will. He is always looking for the next bounty, caring more about getting the job done and having food on the table rather then saving the day. Unlike Spike however, he cares more openly about people despite his gruff exterior.

Jet is the owner of the Bebop, and as such is responsible for much of the repairs and costs of maintaining it. He also cooks all of the food and owns his own bonzai tree collection.

Jet's voice is gruff, rough but not too deep - think of a "dad" type voice. He's also reminscient of classic noir protagonists so any influence there is much appreciated.

  • "When I was a cop, this was my beat. I’m the Black Dog and when I bite I don’t let go. I have no regrets about her, but I’ll settle this score on my own turf."

  • "So Charlie says, 'only hands can wash hands. If you want to receive, you have to give.' Something like that—wish I could remember the exact words—anyway, I think Charlie’s telling us to just do it. Ha. What do you make of it?"

  • "Humans were meant to work and sweat to earn a living. Those that try to get rich quick, or live at the expense of others, all get divine retribution somewhere along the line. That's the lesson. Unfortunately we quickly forget the lessons we've learned. And then we have to learn them. All over again."

A nomadic Native American who sometimes helps Spike (nicknamed Laughing Bird). He seems to have the ability to predict the future. His messages are usually cryptic and left up for interpretation.

"Wise old man" voice is a good choice, but with a Native American edge.

  • "The red-eyed coyote will appear in the Zona Norte at the far end of town. That is what I see. You, Swimming Bird. The Swimming Bird will meet a woman. The bird will be hunted by this woman, and then-- death."

  • "That is not an ordinary star, my son. That star is the tear of a warrior. A lost soul who has finished his battles somewhere on this planet. A pitiful soul who could not find his way to the lofty realm where the great spirit awaits us all."

  • "Do not fear death. Death is always at our side. When we show fear, it jumps at us faster than light, but if we do not show fear, it casts its eye upon us gently and then guides us into infinity."

The wife of Asimov. Her wish is to finally go to Mars, wanting to finally leave the Tjuana asteroid and get a better life. She is much kinder then Asimov but can hold her own in a fight.

Really looking for anything here. Experimentation is much welcomed.

  • "I want to get out of this life. I know that I can be happy on Mars."

  • *laughs* "I can't tell when you're joking and when you're not!"

Please no racist accents. Any racist accents will get deleted AND reported.

An old friend of Spike and connected to the Red Dragon syndicate. She runs a convience store and is most likely an informant. She gives Spike valuable advice on how to deal with Vicious.

Faye Valentine

The classic "femme fatale" style character, Faye is a con-woman who is arrogant, vain, greedy and an oppurtunist. She uses anything she can to get what she wants, usually so she can go gamble. She also tries to seduce a lot of men for her own benefit, but claims to hate feeling "desired" by men. She's also heavily sarcastic.

However, she is incredibly vulnerable emotionally and suffers from major amnesia about her past. She also hates being lonely, and considers the Bebop crew her friends (even if she will never show it).

Faye's voice is sultry and seductive, but can also be sarcastic and arrogant - try a mix of everything and see what works for you. Look at femme fatale character and draw on inspiration from there.

  • "They often say that humans can't live alone. But you can live pretty long by yourself. Instead of feeling alone in a group. It's better to be alone in your solitude."

  • Oh, you're finally up, huh? You slept too much, you've been asleep three days. Yeah, I was starting to worry about you. Hey, you should be grateful to me for staying here.

  • "You know the first rule of combat? Shoot them before they shoot you."

Spike Spiegel

The main protagonist of Cowboy Bebop. Lazy and indifferent, Spike is almost always walking as if he is sleepwalking, though he is quite the fighter. He almost always has no concern for others safety, and will sometimes even put civilians in danger to get a bounty.

However, he has many hidden depths - his past is incredibly traumatic and was nearly killed due to his past in the Red Dragon Syndicate, but survived. He considers life "nothing but a dream" and has no fear of being killed. This is represented in his right eye being fake, which to him symbolizes how he can never escape his past.

Spike's voice is cool and deep, and somewhat lazy as well - he doesn't care about much so put that aspect into your performance. However, he does have hidden depths so attempt to convey that subtly as well.

  • "Jet, you said bell peppers and beef. There's no beef in here. So you wouldn't really call it bell peppers and beef now would you?"

  • "Whatever happens, happens."

  • "Jet, do you know that there are three things that I particularly hate? Kids. Animals. And women with attitude. So tell me Jet... why do we have all three of them neatly gathered in our ship?!"
