Commedia
Project Overview
A short animation/set of animations
Once roles are decided the window to record lines will be VERY short due to poor planning (At best a few days)
The basic plot is thus:
The characters of “Commedia” are all, in their own ways, actors, who have found themselves bound to playing out an eternal comedy. Each of them is tied to a mask and an archetype which they play out to varying degrees of success. The animations will follow Il Capitano and Colombina respectively as they grapple with the disappearance of Arlecchino as they have to act around his absence while also dealing with the emotional strain of his disappearance.

I need someone experienced in sounds to either handle the audio portion of this project or, at the very least, advise me as I flounder my way through audio software

Lead role, but few lines
Pantalone’s closest servant. A man whose will has long been broken and who has long tied his pride to the venerable name of his master.
Speaks with a low and level voice, as long as he isn't expected to give anything but his practiced responses
Stern and stoic, though mainly out of fear
Gives curt, simple responses and does little beyond what he is told
His phrases are practiced and he struggles when saying anything he isn't used to saying
- english
- male adult
“Where is Arlecchino?” (Strained, quiet, firm)
“Where is Arlecchino?” (Cold, firm, practiced)
“Yes sir” (Practiced)
A servant of Pantalone who desires greatly to escape his servitude. He is not smart but is, at times, cunning. He has devised a plan to escape which is, more by luck than skill, likely to succeed, but he must, in all aspects of his act, take care to execute it perfectly, or he will fail.
The voice he uses is a facade of feigned nonchalance
Often tries to sound suspicious to throw people off of his real intentions
- male adult
“Oh Pantalone? He’s right through that door” (Easy, charismatic, subtly trying not to laugh)
“Why don’t you come on in and see” (Mocking, taunting)
[a good chuckle]
A Servant of Pantalone who arrived in her current position after a fall from grace. While she resents her lot greatly she believes she can climb up again if she plays her part and doesn't do anything stupid. She is content to quietly serve, at least till her position is threatened again.
Monotone and with an edge of resentment towards almost everyone
She is often tired and wants nothing more than to finish her business and leave as soon as possible
She will almost never betray any emotion nor hint or her true feelings
- female adult
*Say something you think would fit*
“Arlecchino is in his room” (Flat, practiced)
“Im not sure what you’re getting at.. sir” (Flat, practiced, with an edge of malice”
An ill respected man of small power. He arrived at his current position after a fall from grace. He is bitter about his current situation, but doesn’t do anything about it, besides taking his frustrations out on his servants.
Speaks in a low gravelly tone
Betrays much of his emotions in his voice
The only time where he doesn't sound angry or tired is when commanding his servants
- english
- male adult
“What?” (Flat, annoyed, almost angry)
“He’s in his room” (Flat, firm)
“YOU INSUFFERABLE WORM!” (Losing it, furious)
An extra, but a fortunate one. Among the faceless nameless wretches of the Comedy this one is gifted a mask and a name and a face to serve a role, however small, in the endless play. The rest would easily kill them for the honor.
Voice can be anything
Speaks in long leading sentences, trying to gauge the interests of whoever they speak to, as to avoid death
Tricky and afraid
Speaks lies and truths with the same cadence
- english
“Where do YOU think he is?” (Stalling)
"What?" (Genuinely confused)
"You know the answer to that" (Lying)
