Secrets Of Dragonia Audiobook *MALE ACTORS NEEDED*
Project Overview
As the future Queen of Dragonia, the world expects everything from Clare Silverhart. Instead, the wild-hearted Princess is out searching for a chance to change her fate.
So when Clare awakens on her fifteenth birthday to find her kingdom being attacked and parents captured by rival realm, Shaidania, her bravery is put to the test. With the help of Kilah, her white tiger, she embarks on a quest through the realms of her world to find her parents.
Suddenly, she is whisked from a perfect agenda of manners, fashion and lineage, to a world of legends, combat, and Hunters—a group of elite warriors who protect the realms with their lives. Along the way, Clare is forced to team up with mysterious and inseparable Shaidanian soldiers Arwin and Tajo who she must decide if she can trust.
As the four travel through forests, seas and skies, they slowly learn more about each other and themselves, leaving Clare with the ultimate question of can a friendship be formed between destined enemies? And what price will they pay for freedom?
This is a Casting Call for the YA Fantasy novel, "Secrets of Dragonia: Dawn of Monochrome." The book clocks in at just over 300 pages or roughly 100, 000 words. (For comparison, The Hunger Games book 1 is about 99, 750 words.) The number of required lines will change depending on the significance of your casted character.
Feel welcome to audition for as many roles as you wish, but please only audition with the intention of being cast and certainty that you can commit to the audiobook project. This series may develop into an animation in the future, so if cast you may receive the option to return in the role of the same character for an animated series. (This will, of course, be entirely optional and your character will be recast if you are unavailable.) For this, I will create a separate casting call and it will likely be a paid project.

Clare's the Princess of Dragonia. She's 15. Her accent is English, but not as posh as her parents seeing as she'd rather chew her own arm off than be a Princess. She sounds somewhere between cockney and upper-class English.
Clare is very stubborn, and her pride often weighs her down. She is sarcastic, caring and confident.
*After her white tiger gets called a dumb cat* Arwin, I’m pretty sure my dumb cat’s smarter than someone who can’t even wrap their head around the logic of not destroying an entire district over one damn life.
I dare to have my pet tiger give you a facelift. And by facelift I mean chewing that hideous thing off your skull.
*Angry* Perfect? Perfect?! Not once in my fifteen years have I ever thought that my family is anywhere near perfect! But I think I’d know my father a lot better than some stranger who tried to kill him!
CHARACTER:
Arwin Ignacia is a Shaidanian soldier, originally from Moltania (the fire realm). He spent 6 years of his life in Shaidania (the realm of darkness) at the hands of The Dark Lord, serving him in the army and as his right-hand-man. At age 10, he was kidnapped and taken to Shaidania, brainwashed and put through a brutal training program that transformed him into the perfect weapon. Now a bitter, malicious soldier, Arwin is ruthless; the ultimate result. He is given the task of leading the Shaidanian army to destroy Dragonia (the light realm) and capture King Ari and Queen Jane. Shortly after his success, he is seized by Princess Clarissa and forced to accompany her on her quest to Shaidania to rescue her parents. On this journey, his memories slowly resurface, until he remembers his true origins and decides to leave Shaidania forever.
He is quiet calm and stubborn, but extremely sarcastic. Arwin tends to hide behind a bitterer version of himself, and is a rather different person by the end of the story, when he lets his guard down. Until then, he is difficult to see through and interpret, as his expressions rarely change and his voice is slightly monotone at times.
Things reminiscent of his character ... VOICE:
He has a fairly thick New York accent -- not to the point of parodying the typical mafia-boss type accent, but still very recognisable as a New York teenager.
His voice is fairly deep, but keep in mind he's still only 16 and may have higher undertones. Though this character is outwardly passive and stoic, keep in mind this is an audiobook and there are no visuals to represent how Arwin is feeling. All the passion must be carried within your voice!!!! You must have the ability to convey emotion -- sarcasm, rage, depression, grief -- be it subtle or intense, since Arwin does have some rather emotional scenes. Please show me what your voice can do!
When approaching this voice, I'd say it's pretty similar to Jason Madsen as Kovu from The Lion King II ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1UtH7Ecxs-8 ) but maybe even a little bit lower in pitch.

CHARACTER:
Tajo Eithne is a a tiger animorphus (a boy who can turn into a tiger) the last of his kind. He is a fun-loving, smart-mouthed kid with a heart of gold. Emotionally driven and intense, he's a loose-cannon who lacks subtlety but at the same time is sensitive and gentle around the people closest to him. His hyperactive nature can prove to be overwhelming to some, but certainly loveable. Because of his loud-mouthed nature, he can often come across as arrogant and egotistical, however Tajo is undoubtedly one of the most selfless, emotional characters in the book. He's is super cocky and appears to have no brain-to-mouth filter. He's famous for his typically cat-related jokes and puns.
It's not easy to gain Tajo's trust, but once you do, he has your back for the rest of your life, like it or not. However, he puts his best friend, Arwin, before absolutely everyone and everything, including himself and his other friends. Arwin is by far the most important thing in his life, and always his first priority. Tajo may be incredibly cocky and fun-loving on the outside, but on the inside he is guarded and distrustful.

Tajo is 15 years old and has a relatively high voice. Because of his underlying suffering, he is an extremely temperamental character, very easily upset. For this role, you must have the ability to convey very intense emotions -- joy, depression, rage, grief -- since Tajo has several scenes of this nature. You must be able to scream in agony, and cry intensely without holding. back Show me what your voice can do!

CHARACTER:
At 17 years old, Alaina is the Huntress of Moltania (the realm of fire) and Arwin's older sister. When she was a child, she lost her parents and younger brothers to the Shaidanians. She vowed to protect her realm by becoming a Hunter to ensure nothing like that would ever happen again. Growing bitter and unfeeling throughout the next 6 years, believing her brothers to be dead, they miraculously reappear one day, claiming to be soldiers for the very army she thought had killed them so long ago. Her first brother, Arwin had been brainwashed to forget everything that happened when they were children, and seems to believe entirely in The Dark Lord's sickening plans. Her adopted brother, Tajo, was unable to be brainwashed and has instead had to live with the pain of watching Arwin's memories slowly die. After encountering Alaina, the majority of Arwin's memories resurface.
Alaina inherited magical abilities from her late mother, and is said to be one of the most powerful sorceresses her age. These powers, coupled with her scythe makes Alaina perhaps the deadliest Hunter. Her agonizing past has made filled her with hate, and it doesn't take much for her to snap. Being the eldest sibling, she is incredibly protective of her brothers. She has always been cold to others around her, even her closest friends, but when Arwin and Tajo return, her love and protectiveness is incredibly clear.

VOICE:
Being from Moltania (the fire realm) Alaina will have a thick New York accent -- even thicker than Arwin's since she has spent her entire life there. She's certainly one tough cookie -- she carries a constant angry vibe, as if she could tear the room apart at any moment. But when talking to her brothers, her maternal softness shines through. She cares about her brothers more than anything in the world, and just being in their presence melts away all those painful years. Apart from these situations, her tone can be rather bland at times, but for the most part, it is backed by raw anger. Her tone is surprisingly high and feminine for such a dark, brooding character.

*Numb and Emotionless* I saved this from the fire. I managed to escape using the magic that was passed down to me from mother. That day, Red and I vowed to become Hunters so that nothing like that could ever happen again.
*Furious* You're my brother, Arwin! I'm not going to lose you again!
Night is a demon and the son of The Dark Lord. He was disowned because he didn't agree with his father's morals and is often a target of abuse. He's around 14 years old, and narrates parts of the story. His voice is androgynous (you can't really tell whether he's a boy or a girl) so I listed him as Male/Female. He sounds more female than male, I'd say. He's extremely shy and timid.
My laboured breaths echo around the silence of the dungeon. I try my very best to keep it together, to grasp at my final chance at humanity, knowing fine what would happen to my one and only friend if I don’t.
I clasp the silver, key-shaped locket in my fist and an overflowing surge of emotion channels its way through my body—a vivid gush of colour in my solitude world. But the colour can't last forever. It quickly seeps away, leaving me cold and dull once more.
I lay on my hands and knees as blood pools onto the floor, soaking the knees of my jeans. I sigh. If only death wasn't so afraid of me. I press a pale hand to my stomach, sealing the wound shut. But no, I have made a promise to Arwin. And though the complexities of human emotions are a mystery to us demons, we do understand one thing: how to make deals...and keep our word.
CHARACTER:
17 year old Wu Xing is the Hunter of Earthania (the realm of earth and forests.) He's extremely laid-back and cares deeply about his friends and realm. He is the archer of the group, wielding a giant bow and arrow. His calm, easy-going nature enables him to rarely miss his target. While most people become a Hunter in the name of revenge, Wu Xing wishes for peace. Though he doesn't show it, he in fact hates violence and avoids it at all costs, but he isn't afraid to stand up for what he believes in and fight for it if it comes to that. Wu Xing is a lot smarter than he comes across and possibly dumbs himself down to give others the spotlight. He's definitely a peacekeeper and loves to travel and meet new people.

Wu Xing has a fairly deep yet soft, gentle voice. Very friendly, but still laid back. He has an American accent.

Lune is the Huntress of Skyrainia (The realm of skies.) She's an angel who's very smart, fiery and independent. She has a short temper and prefers keep to herself.
He died fighting for what’s right, which means that we have to carry on.

CHARACTER:
Hireto "Red" Ryuzaki Kurosawa is the Hunter of Moltania (the realm of fire) and a childhood friend of Arwin and Tajo's. He has the ability to control fire. He earned the nickname "Red" because of his bright crimson hair. He's almost always smoking a cigarette, and a very angry vibe as if he's ready to rip the room apart. I can imagine he likes to burn down buildings for fun -- the sort of guy you'd hire to kill your husband. Tight jeans, loose morals, he may work for a group of heroic warriors, but his entire character is a ferocious storm of sex, drugs and gambling. The word "Badass" personified, if you will.
VOICE:
North American. His voice is incredibly deep. A sneering baritone that sounds like thunder rolling over the land. Even in casual conversations, every word should convey subtle rage. When he is angry, all hell should break loose. He's on more than 3 packs of cigarettes a day and so should probably have a raspiness in his voice.

This is a good role if English isn't your first language/you have a foreign accent. Arwin can tell from the Nekomata's accent that they're close to the next realm, so it should be foreign. Eg not British/American/Australian/Canadian etc.
The nekomata is a two-tailed cat creature who walks on it's hind legs like a human. In my story, Nekomata's are more like half-human, half-cats, more like werecats.
The nekomata collects "pretty" things. She loves treasures, necklaces, coins...anything shiny.

This angel is an inventor who makes mechanical wings. Though at first glance he's just an old man who's a few tacos short of a fiesta platter, he's in fact a very sweet man who helps the characters conquer their fears through his inventions.
