Captain Epic (Animated Superhero Action Comedy)
Project Overview
The world is full of superheroes. And to his chagrin, John isn't one of them.
He wants to be famous. He wants to be popular. Instead, he has to watch as all superheroes around him are adored by just about everyone, while he stays a loser. Until one day, he's had enough. A self-induced accident (well, more or less) gives him superpowers, and so he goes on to collect glory! Uh, I mean, selflessly fight for the innocent civilians without expecting a reward.
But even though his reasons are selfish, it doesn't really matter, right? Superhero is superhero... right?

The role of Secretary 2 has now been opened again, since the voice actor failed to respond for a looong time and I assume he lost interest in the project. And to all of you who wonder, no, we didn't give up on the project, we just needed more animators and time to really start animating, and now we have both. I'm hoping to have the first episode finished by the end of January.

P.S.
If you didn't get a role: With the exception of Vale, these were only the auditions for the first episode. There will be many more roles as the series progresses. So you can always try again! -
We reached the deadline!
Thank you for all the amazing auditions! I've been listening to them as they came in, and sadly, I can already tell that many amazing voice actors will go home empty handed. There were many awesome auditions that were simply surpassed by others. And with some characters, I'm really having trouble deciding which voice actor to pick. Me and the others will make a decision over the course of the next few days. It's not a decision I'm looking forward to make... -
Past work
I just added a short film I did this summer. I'm really proud of it, and I hope it will convince you that I really know what I'm doing.
The protagonist of this series, and perhaps the most demanding role alongside Vale. He's an unsympathetic, selfish, yet (unvoluntarily) comedic for most of the series, until he radically changes towards the end as his character arc comes to a close, after going through an also quite artistically demanding breaking point. He becomes much more sympathetic then.
No way in hell. Who’d want anything signed by that loser? He’s so pathetic with his little speech and ‘I’ll sign whatever you throw at me’ (he says the last sentence more melancholically) How desperate can someone be?
I realised something today. It’s time for me to finally get superpowers. I want to be as popular
as that loser Turbonator. Tell me immediately how I can get some. All this time I've been obsessing over having superpowers and being popular, I never realized that I already had what really mattered.
Quite a demanding role. She starts out as a funny, kind, comedic character, but gets increasingly dark towards the end. The first line should be read in a higher-pitched voice than the serious tone of the second and the very dark, angry tone in the third. Don't be afraid to shout on the last sentence!
Oh my god, I can't believe I was actually picked! Thank you thank you thank you!
Come on, don't be so mean. You're supposed to be a superhero! Helping people, you know?
I trusted you. All this time, I did everything for you, even though you treated me like trash! AND FOR WHAT?
Despite the obvious reference to One Punch Man, he's actually more of a Superman-style generic superhero with little personality... or so it seems. As the series goes on, he reveals hidden depths. Line 1 is to be read in a classic superhero voice, while lines 2 and 3 are to be read in a more realistic, emotional tone.
You can't win, Mechano! Remember what happened the last 700 times we fought!
This is not what it means to be a hero! It's not about earning glory, it's about saving people regardless of wether they love you for it or not!
I understand you. Believe me, I do. I know what it feels like, to live with such self-doubts. But remember... it doesn't matter who you once were, you can always change
A one-shot villain in a mech, with a mechanic voice. He only appears in the first scene of the first episode, and in the last scene of the very last episode in the first season. We need the voice of a brute, we can take care of the distortion afterwards.
Not so invincible now, huh, One Kick Man?
Well, now that I took care of One Kick Man, I might just as well kill you.
Aw, come on!
He's a newbie, and as such is a little insecure. His lines shouldn't be spoken like a supervillain, but like the minor villain he is.
We‘ll see about that. I'll cover this wall with graffiti and there‘s nothing petty heroes like you can do against it.
Congratulations, you just prevented minor damage to public property by smashing said public property to pieces. You're officially a hero!
Who would‘ve thought that, I‘m already famous!
A popular girl bully archetype. She appears a few times along the series, but has a rather minor role
I know, she’s the worst, right? Who does she think she is? I mean, how dare she…
A kind mother who has a minor role in the series, only appearing now and then.
Do you want some cake or crisps or chocolate?
Let’s NOT go down that path.
John Jonathan Johnson! You will NOT sneak tonight into a chemical factory, to fall into some stupid, toxic waste!
An incredibly bored, professional secretary that appears both in the first episode and probably later on in a bureocracy scene, somewhere in the middle of the series.
Welcome to the superhero registartion center. What can I do for you?
I see. Well, sir, could you give me your name, please?
Thank you, Mister Johnson. Please go sit in the waiting room, we will attend to you shortly.
Welcome to the superhero registration center, what can I do for you?
Boy, your parents did have a strange sense of humor, didn‘t they?
How the hell did you convince your parents to change your name into that? Did you hold a gun to their heads?
Only appears in the first two scenes of the first episode. There, he quits his job as sidekick because of the imense amount of stress connected to it.
Were all those fireworks really necessary?
W-what happened?? Where‘s… where‘s the…
Told you this job is stressful… well, I think it‘s a bit too stressful for me. I‘m getting trouble to sleep at night. Have panic attacks for no reason now and then. I… I‘m sorry, man, but I think I should quit.
Appears now and then throughout the series whenever a news report appears, which is actually fairly often.
One Kick Man once more saved the innocent people of our city in a heroic fight against the nefarious Mechano; as expected of him, he managed to banish his opponent and helped make Cape City a safer place for us all
And, even though one can’t help but wonder what he will do next, there is another question that occupies everyones mind: who will he choose as his new sidekick?
We are happy to report that we managed to interview One Kick Man’s former sidekick, who is recovering from the near-death trauma from the battle with Mechano.
