Bunny Burrows
Project Overview
Bunny Burrows is a beautiful hollow, rich with greenery and trees. The residents are anthropomorphic rabbits, who live out their lives in harmony and peace. Or at least, that's just what the residents will tell you. In reality, Bunny Burrows is a place full of greed and community infighting. Every resident of Bunny Burrows is monitored and held to high standards by the little-discussed leaders. They live in near-constant fear of being attacked by the foxes that live nearby. If anybunny deviates from the norm, they are considered to be spies from the other side, and are often banished from Bunny Burrows.
Every resident of Bunny Burrows is assigned a job based on what they're good at. These jobs are heavily gendered, as to "keep everything right". Some of the female jobs include; Burrow Creators, Burrow Farmers, Burrow Sitters, Burrow Teachers, Burrow Painters, and Burrow Bakers. Some of the male jobs include; Burrow Makers, Burrow Farmers, Burrow Soldiers, Burrow Trainers, and Burrow Builders. Those of which that don't have a job yet are labeled as "Unclassified", and they are often looked down upon.

Bunny Burrows is a story about a dystopian world, taking place in a cheerful town tucked into blooming earth. The residents are constantly suspicious of one another, as they try desperately to not be accused and banished for something they didn't do. Their community is incredibly fragile and unhealthy. The story follows Fern, an Unclassified resident of Bunny Burrows, as she tries to find where she fits in. She lives a fairly normal life, but after a devastating attack one day, she finds a small fox kit inside of her house. Fern's life suddenly gets flipped upside down as she tries to get the kid back to his family without being caught, all while trying to figure out what her leaders are truly up to.

LEAD CHARACTER ROLE - Large line count
Fern is an Unclassified bunny that's incredibly unsure of herself and unsure of what she wants in life. She's a young adult, but is convinced that everybody else knows what they're doing. She's nervous and worries a lot about things, and is a bit awkward. She gets thrown suddenly into a situation where she has no idea what she's doing, and has to figure it out quickly, or she might end up being killed.
Voice description: Fern's voice is still very undecided, so nearly anything works! Just testing the waters with her voice acting at the moment. As a general rule, Fern's voice is feminine with a slightly nervous/awkward undertone. She doesn't stutter, but she is very unsure of most of her words. She has a full-bodied voice, though she doesn't use it to the full extent. Do what you will!

(Greeting a close friend. Cheerful tone, very happy.) "Good morning Lilac! It's nice to see you! How are the kids doing?"
(Talking to a child. Slightly nervous, but trying not to sound it.) "Alright kiddo, I have to step away for a bit. I'm going to lock up, don't open up the door for anybody, okay? Um... I'll be back soon. Be good, alright?"
(Talking to somebody who's trying to take a child out of her arms. Slightly on-edge, slightly angry, mostly nervous and trying to play it cool.) "No... I don't need any help, I've got it handled, but thank you. His parents wouldn't like it if I gave him to a stranger." (The other bunny reaches out her arms and asks to hold him. Fern quickly moves away, now on edge and more angry. Looking for an escape route. She yells out before catching herself.) "Don't! I-I mean um... I just finally got him to sleep. I wouldn't want him to wake up... don't touch him. Please."
MAIN CHARACTER ROLE - Low line count, lots of animal sounds
Leo is a four year old fox boy who doesn't speak. He's a lost child who's trying to figure out how to get home. He's very rambunctious and excitable.
Voice description: He mostly barks and growls! That's about it, please be prepared to make animal sounds! The sounds in the lines can be interpreted loosely, do what feels right to you!

SUPPORTING CHARACTER ROLE - Medium line count
Lilac is Fern's closest friend. She's a very kind Burrow Nurse who has three little triplets. She's incredibly sweet and supportive, and adores her friends and her community. She's an absolute ball of sunshine that jumps at every opportunity to help, though she needs to work on listening to her own boundaries and limits.
Voice description: Lilac has a very soft and gentle voice that's full of positivity. She hardly yells or raises her voice, but she has a lot of kindness and sweetness to her voice. It's very feminine.

(Speaking to somebody else's child- kind, gentle, and encouraging tone.) "You're doing amazing, Fennel. Take a few more big breaths with me, okay? One... two.. three... and you're all done!"
(Talking to a friend who just heard something weird- worried, nervous tone.) "Oh goodness... do you think it's an attack?" (She looks around for a second. Her voice sounds almost dreamy as she does, as if forgetting they're in danger.) "Oh, but it's such a lovely day today! It's hardly the time for pillaging! If I were a fox right now, I'd be eating tea cakes and sunbathing, not attacking innocent rabbits!"
(Stirring some tea, gossiping with a close friend- gently admonishing tone, slightly amused.) "Well goodness! She seems incredibly rude... and for such a high-ranking Burrow Creator, too! I knew she was a bitter soul but I didn't know she'd go that far!"
ANTAGONIST CHARACTER ROLE - Medium-large line count
Fleur is a beautiful Burrow Maker who puts on a front. She acts very sweet and kind, when in reality she's very bitter, vain, and shallow. She'll do anything to get her way, and she's not afraid to drag others under while doing so. She despises most of the town residents, but she's widely loved by them.
Voice description: Fleur's voice is sickly sweet, but with angry undertones. She has two very different voices for when she's putting up a front. Her voice is incredibly fake, and occasionally her real voice comes through. This role requires good emotional range, and you'll need to be aggressive and loud at some points.

(Pretending to be kind and sweet, trying to pressure somebody into something. Clearly does not like this person.) "Oh darling, you look just divine today! I wish I looked just like you but I'm afraid my fur is far too silky and shiny... say, speaking of, there's this product I made that I use to make myself look like this. Would you perhaps want to try it? You like me, right? You would be supporting me, and it would be such a huge help!"
(Was just bit by a fox kit and is pretending to be much more hurt and distressed than she truly is. Fake sobbing, melodramatic.) "I.. I just can't believe it... Fern... she just..." (she fakes a sob. The crowd comforts her.) "Thank you... I'm just so surprised that Fern was harboring a fox this whole time... I just asked if I could see him and she... she..." (another melodramatic sob) "She told him to attack me! She looked so angry... I don't know what I did wrong..."
(Ordering others around, genuinely angry and disheveled. Her real voice has come out, which isn't as sweet. It's deeper.) "ENOUGH! You're fucking useless, beat it. I have to do everything myself around here. I hate every fucking bunny in this stupid town."
SUPPORTING CHARACTER ROLE - Low-medium line count
Feijoa (fay-joe-uh) is a 9 year old jerboa girl who lives in a sanctuary of sorts. She's bubbly and curious, and is best friends with her sister, Anjou. They're both adopted, and they live good lives. Fei will never pass up an adventure, and spends most of her days exploring the forest.
Voice description: Fei's voice is very bright and cheerful. She sounds very young, so I'd ask that you'd be able to do these kinds of voices. Her voice is very positive and light, and she's always full of energy.

(Introducing herself. Full of energy, very happy.) "My name is Feijoa, but you can call me Fei! I'm from Haven Hollows! And this is my sister!! I'm so glad you aren't dead!"
(Excitedly meeting somebody she's never seen before, full of energy.) "Wow!! A rabbit, all the way out here! You're really super duuuuper far away from rabbit territory!"
(Talking to her sister about something strange, discussing it. Her tone is full of wonder and curiosity.) "Why do you think they're together? One of em has got to be dead, right?" (She then tries to gross out her sister with a teasing hint to her voice.) "What if the fox killed the rabbit, and he's dragging it along with him so he can slowly eat it from the inside out!"
SUPPORTING CHARACTER ROLE - Low line count
Anjou (Ann-joo) is an 8 year old marten girl who lives in a sanctuary of sorts. She's kind and energetic, incredibly chatty, and is best friends with her sister, Feijoa. They're both adopted, and they live good lives. Anjou follows her sister everywhere, so she spends most of her time in the forest.
Voice description: Anjou's voice is slightly deeper than her sisters, and is bubbly and cheerful. She sounds very young, so I'd ask that you'd be able to do these kinds of voices. Her voice can get very loud, and she does squeal often. Her voice is a bit more full-bodied.

(Asking a question to a stranger- desperately curious but a little nervous.) "...How come you're with that fox? Aren't you guys enemies? And where did he come from? You're real real far away from fox territory..."
(Disgusted squealing after being told something gross.) "EWWWWWW!! GROSS!! STOP IT!!" (she suddenly gasps when she remembers she was trying to be sneaky.)
(Introducing her home- very excited, very chatty.) "This is Haven Hollows!! Every animal lives together no matter what kind they are! I love it here, and there's so much forest around us! My favorite places are that, that, that, and that, and that, and that!" (she's wildly pointing.) "And um... I've lived here my whole life!!".
BACKGROUND/SUPPORTING CHARACTER ROLE - Low line count
Background characters are very similar to extras, but they'll often have names, personalities, and they'll interact with the cast of main characters. Their part tends to be bigger. This role is open to anybody! My only ask is that your mic quality is pretty good. If you get chosen for this project, you may be allowed to have more control over your character's personality and lines. Please feel free to riff the audition lines if you have any ideas! Extras are background characters that are often caught in conversation. Their role is very small. This role is open to anybody! My only ask is that your mic quality is pretty good. Please feel free to riff whatever lines you'd like, but there are some voice lines down below in case you need them! I may ask specific people if they'd like to do background characters instead if I really like their voice!

(Masculine, any tone) "I love my kids, I really do, but do you remember Perrie? The kid is a total sweetheart. Here's the thing, he's finally old enough where he's started to learn things. That's great and all, but then he'll tell me about them. Love the kid with all my heart but I already know how to shuck corn, it just gets so boring to listen to, you know?"
(Child, any tone) "Mama! Yesterday at auntie Plum's house, she told me all about how some day I would get a job! I was so excited, but then she told me right now my job is school, and I don't want to do school! I want to be a builder some day mama, just like papa. And then I'll make you a huuuuuge burrow house!"
