Blumiere & Timpani: Reimagined
Project Overview
INTRODUCTION
Hello, everyone! This casting call is for an animated passion project centred around the beautiful, tragic backstory of two beloved characters from Super Paper Mario. The project is part cinematic storytelling and part high-end audio drama.
The final script and full set of storyboards are already 100% wrapped up, an original musical score is in production, and we have a dedicated production team handling the animation and visuals. Now, we are looking for three talented voice actors to bring our main characters to life and give this story its deep, emotional weight!
This is a 100% non-profit, volunteer-based fan tribute. It’s a fantastic opportunity to get some high-quality, dramatic character work into your voice reel and collaborate with a passionate crew of creators!
Since everything is fully mapped out, your lines will be recorded to match the exact pacing of our completed storyboards.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Once you are cast, you'll join our dedicated team on Discord! You'll get to interact and collaborate with a bunch of excited artists, animators, and creators who all share a massive love for this lore.
We communicate primarily through our organised Discord server. Participation on Discord is required to easily collaborate with the director, access the storyboard files, and stay updated with the production team.
WHAT WE ASK OF YOU
First and foremost, just have fun! We take immense pride in bringing together talents to create something truly phenomenal. This story means a lot to us, and we want to work with people who are passionate about their craft!
Please submit clean recordings. We ask that auditions and lines be recorded on good-quality microphones with no background noise.
Keep it raw. Please let our dedicated audio engineers handle the production. Don't add any artificial effects, filters, or noise-reduction to your audition lines—leave that to our audio team!
Give us your best takes. Submitting 2 to 3 of your favourite takes for a line is the absolute gold standard. Feel free to cut out any mistakes before submitting.
Respect the age limit. Because we are running an organised production server, all voice actors must be 18 or older to audition and join the project.
Voice Actor
Lord Blumiere (pronounced bloo-myair) is a noble, soft-spoken aristocrat from the Tribe of Darkness whose world is completely upended when he falls in love with a human girl named Timpani. Melancholic, intellectual, deeply romantic and serving as the lead role, Blumiere struggles under the rigid expectations of his lineage while desperately seeking a place where his love can exist. His journey takes a tragic turn when loss and betrayal break his spirit, driving him to embrace the dark magic of the Dark Prognosticus and abandon his original identity. The accent and tone in his voice should come from his elegant vocabulary and clear, deliberate cadence rather than being too overly forced. When you speak to Timpani, your tone should be soft, vulnerable, and grounded in real emotional warmth. However, when he reaches his breaking point later in the story, try and make him sound malevolent, incensed and desperate for his love back. In other words, try and really embody his emotions and vocal range strongly in a way that is to really be felt by the audience!

Voice Actor
Lady Timpani (pronounced tim-puh-nee) is a compassionate, gentle human whose selfless nature leads her to save an injured stranger by a cliff face. Acting as the grounding emotional heart of the story, she is warm, perceptive, and fiercely loyal. Despite knowing the societal barriers between humans and the Tribe of Darkness, her unconditional empathy and deep affection for Blumiere drive her to stand by his side, making her willing to face absolute uncertainty for the chance at a peaceful future together. Your performance and portrayal should feel completely natural and conversational, in contrast to Blumiere’s more formal way of speaking. Focus heavily on warmth, vulnerability, and genuine concern for a wounded soul.

Voice Actor
The formidable leader of the Tribe of Darkness who serves as the story's antagonist. Blumiere's Father is an unyielding ruler bound strictly by ancient law, pride, and heritage. Cold, calculating, and merciless regarding his family line, he views humans as inferior, weak creatures and sees Blumiere’s love for Timpani as an unacceptable disgrace. He acts with ruthless finality to protect his legacy, completely blind to the tragic catastrophe his own stern cruelty eventually triggers. Your authority comes from the absolute weight and rhythm of your voice, not from a forced accent. Every word you speak carries the finality of a law written in stone. Keep your vocal tone completely firm, prideful and immovable.
