Beauty and the Beast (2012) English Dub

Beauty and the Beast (2012) English Dub

Project Overview

All right, y'all, let's try this again.

Several years ago, I came across a clip from a German adaptation of Beauty and the Beast that came out in 2012. I loved just the short little clip and later found the whole movie on YouTube. The subtitles were absolutely abysmal, but I got the gist of it thought it was a super cute retelling. I loved the movie so much that I thought it would be really fun to dub it into English!

SUMMARY:

Elsa and her father, Hugo, own an inn in the valley. Behind on rent and low on wares, Hugo makes a journey to sell some of his late wife's jewelry to attempt to make ends meet. On his way back, he comes across a mysterious castle where he can rest his head for the night. In the morning, he takes a rose from the rosebush for Elsa but is then ambushed by the Beast of the castle who accuses him of stealing from him and demands that whatever living creature greets him when he returns home belongs to him. Hugo goes home expecting the dog to greet him, but to his horror, Elsa is the first one to welcome him home.

Upon hearing what the Beast has demanded, Elsa goes to the castle with some of her own roses to appease the Beast. However, when she comes face-to-face with the Beast, he demands that she be his wife and refuses to let her leave the castle.

Over time, Elsa befriends the two servants, Wenzel who has donkey ears and Irmel who has a pig nose, and she very gradually begins to bond with the Beast as he shows a more tender side of himself.

While their connection becomes stronger, Elsa still cannot bring herself to admit her feelings for him and flees the castle. The Beast, truly in love with her, allows her to leave and gives her money so she and her father will no longer have financial trouble.

Elsa returns home to her father, but knowing she has feelings for the Beast, she decides to run back to the castle, and finds the Beast dying. She gently kisses him and tells him she loves him. The Beast suddenly becomes a human and tells her that he was cursed to be a Beast because of his horrid and uncaring personality but that her love has redeemed him.

RULES:

1) I am always willing to be flexible with deadlines as I understand real life has to come first, but I also won't wait around forever and will recast if you prove to be unreliable.

2) Give me emotion and feeling in your audition!  I have always leaned more towards voice actors who exhibit true passion in their voice.

3) Please be open to the idea of accepting a role you did not originally audition for.

4) Mic quality will play a huge role in casting decisions.  If you receive a better microphone, you will need to submit a new audition rather than just tell me you have one.

5) When I cast roles, I also look at your CCC profile.  The style of it (i.e. good grammar, the amount of information you supply, a profile picture) can influence my casting decision.

6) Communication will be done entirely through email, so you must have an email address that you check regularly. I will also have a Discord server to join, but it is not required to audition.

Elsa is a kind young woman who helps run the inn with her father.  When learning her father's life has been threatened by the Beast because he stole a rose for her, she takes some roses from her mother's grave and goes to the castle herself to confront him and correct the mistake.  Initially terrified of the Beast and unwilling to put up with his demanding and crass behavior, she very slowly begins to form a bond with him when they get to know one another and he reveals a more tender side of himself.

Though Elsa at first cannot admit her feelings to him and flees, she realizes how much she cares about him and returns to the castle to find him dying.  She tells him she loves him and kisses him, and the Beast turns into a human and reveals himself as the prince of the castle who had been cursed but that her love has freed him.

The Beast is a human/animal hybrid living in isolation in an abandoned castle in the woods.  He is really Prince Arbo who had been cursed to live as a Beast because of his selfishness and cruelty to the people in his kingdom after the death of his parents.  He is initially abrasive and crass and demands that Elsa be his wife so that (unbeknownst to her) she can break his curse.  Elsa is at first defiant and resists all of his demands, but over time, the two of them very slowly begin to form a bond when they get to know one another and the Beast reveals a more tender side of himself to her.

After a romantic dinner and dance, the Beast again more sincerely asks Elsa to be his wife, but Elsa cannot admit her feelings to him and flees.  In tears, the Beast allows her to leave and gives her money and jewels so she and her father will no longer have to worry about their finances.

Realizing she cares about him, Elsa returns to the castle as the Beast lays dying.  She tells him she loves him and kisses him, and the Beast turns into a human and reveals himself as the prince of the castle who had been cursed but that her love has freed him.
