If you're here, you likely already have a good idea of what Project Sekai is. In the case that you do not, let me give you a quick rundown:
A mysterious song name “Untitled” with no melody or lyrics is passed around the youth of Shibuya, Tokyo. This song unlocks access to a “SEKAI”, a mysterious place that allows those in it to discover their true feelings. Starring vitrual singer and pop-star Hatsune Miku, Project Sekai (also known as Colorful Stage) is a Japanese rhythm and music-based mobile game which follows the story of 26 characters and their journey to discover their true feelings and emotions through their music.
For April Fools 2023, a song featuring all 26 characters from the game titled "Be The MUSIC!" was released. I've had a bit of an earworm for this song since release, and I thought it'd be a great way to test the waters with directing projects by covering it in English!
All translations are done, and I'm currently working on putting together a translated demo for the voice providers. This means that as soon as I cast the roles and everyone has gotten back to me, assignments will be sent out and you will be given approximately a week to complete and submit your recordings. I expect this to be a very fast paced project, but I am incredibly flexible so don't worry too much if you don't think you'll make the deadline! Just give me a heads up in DMs and I can extend that deadline no problem :)
I will be filling the role of Kanade Yoisaki, so she will not be open for auditions. I do apologize to those this may disappoint. I may fill in other roles with less auditions, but I will try to avoid this as I want to give everyone else an equal chance.
Now onto the fun stuff, Rules and Requirements:
- You must be 13+, as per every social media-esq platform's requirements.
- You must have Discord. You do not need to include it in your audition, but doing so will save a lot of time in the future. This is where all information will be sent out, and audio files will be submitted.
- You must have a decent mic. I'm not expecting professional grade equipment, but if you're using the mic on your headphones just make sure it sounds okay.
- Avoid background noise! A little bit of static can be removed in Audacity, but don't let it overpower your voice.
- Try to submit your audio as a .wav file. This is not a requirement, but it makes things much easier on my end when I mix the final project.
Due to this being mainly a sung cover with a few spoken lines, your audition must include a clip of you singing a commissioned or covered song from Project Sekai (either Japanese or translated to English is fine). The use of instrumentals is not preferred but using one will not decrease your chances of being cast, just make sure it doesn't overpower your voice. Please avoid added reverb or voice effects.
