Avabridged: The Last Airbender

Project Overview

Avabridged is a parody series of Avatar: The Last Airbender.  At the moment, the pilot episode is in production, and hopefully with enough fan interest, the rest of the series will follow.  It will be a full redub of the original series, with slight adjustments to the original story.  Although the majority of the voice roles have been filled at the moment, more actors will be needed in the future for when more roles open up.

Episodes are planned to be released every month and a half, at least, so this project will be going on for quite some time.

The main forms of communication are currently email and Discord, so all voice actors/actresses that are casted into the series must check their emails/messages at least once a day in case they are needed for anything.  Discord is used every now and then as a group as a way to socialise and discuss project work.

There will be a three to four week deadline to record and send lines to the editor(s).  If any problems arise, VA's must email them to let them know of any delays.

  • Pilot back in development

    Due to time constraints this project had to be put on hiatus for quite a while. However, I have some time to try and get things pushed forward within the next two weeks. I cannot confirm that it will be finished and released on YouTube within this time, but it will get the pilot close to being finished at least. I apolagise for the delays, and I will try my best to get this project wrapped up soon. Ish.

Aang will be a charming and easy-going chap as he adventures throughout the land.  Unlike everyone else, Aang will have an English/British accent as his dialect is from 100 years before.  Although friendly, Aang will give off witty remarks towards those he doesn't like, or when someone insults him.  He's also more mature than he was in the show, and has a habit of breaking the 4th wall.


1st line - Aang is riding Appa and is enjoying himself.  Say this line with a cheery and excited tone.  He will then realise his voice has changed (new voice actor) and will at first seem puzzled, before getting excited over the fact his voice has changed.

2nd line - Aang is casually talking to Sokka.  At this point, he is referring to "Kya" as Katara, as this is the pilot episode and she was called something else.  Kya is pronounced Ki-ya, Ki as in kite.

3rd line - At first Aang will be casually talking to Zuko, almost in a reassuring and caring way, before becoming more cold as he delivers his insulting remark towards Zuko's scar.

  • Yeehaw!  Hold onto your ears, Momo!  Oh wait, my voice has changed.  Guys!  My voice has changed since we released the test footage a year ago!

  • I’m just showing Katar- ehh, Kya a few tricks, there’s nothing wrong with that.Besides, there’s sure to be plenty more food somewhere on this island.

  • No, I’m not the sort of guy to insult burn victims.  Besides, judging from the look of your face, you’ve been roasted enough already.

Katara will a confident character who acts as a team leader of sorts.  She's a friendly character and good Samaritan, but once she's been angered you'll know about it soon enough.  She sometimes argues with her brother, Sokka, and often used witty remarks and comebacks.

Suggestions for the lines:

Line 1 - This is to be read out as normal, like at the start of the original show.

Line 2 - This is one of Katara's witty remarks against Sokka.  It needs to be said in a confident, "A-ha" sort of tone, as if Katara knows that she has just won the argument with that one line.

Line 3 - A large fireball has been launched at the Gaang and is rapidly approaching them.  Katara is quite worried at this point and calls to Aang to fly Appa out the way. 

If you feel you can add to the lines, feel free to record the lines twice; once as they are shown above, and again with your addition.

  • Water.  Earth.  Fire. 
    Air.  When I was a child, my
    grandmother used to tell me stories of the old days.  Once, the four nations lived in harmony, but
    everything changed when the prick in charge of the fire nation declared war on
    everyone else.  Only the Avatar, a master
    of the four elements, could stop the invading firebenders.  But when the world needed him most, he
    disappeared.  It would be another hundred
    years until my brother and I found him trapped in an iceberg; an airbender
    named Aang.  Aang is still a kid however,
    and although he can pull off some fancy moves, he’s got a great deal to learn
    before he’s ready to face the fire nation. 
    My brother thinks it’s all crazy, but I believe Aang can save the world.

  • I don’t see why you’re laughing Sokka.  The only thing you’ve ever got wet was a
    dirty napkin.

  • There’s another fireball coming! 
    Focus on your flying, Aang!

Sokka will be the comic relief of the Gaang, as well as a tactician and warrior.  He's easily annoyed when things don't go to plan and complains quite a lot, but he can keep a level head when needed to.  He's also quite the ladies man, and tends to flirt with some of the women he meets.  He's usually at the centre of the Gaang's banter.  At first, he will take a dislike to Aang, but will see him as a friend later on.

Suggestions for the lines:

1 - At this point, Sokka is being held prisoner, and is shouting at Zuko who is trying his best to ignore Sokka's boasting and ranting.  Sokka is rather cocky and defiant at this point, and is trying to make himself sound like some sort of badass.

2 - Sokka is trying to get himself and Katara out of a trap, and when she starts water bending in order to do so he gets annoyed, thinking that she is wasting time practicing.  He's quite annoyed, and complains about how his sister and Aang spend most of their time practicing their bending skills instead of looking for food etc.

3 - Sokka is agitated as the last of the Gaang's food has been used and there's no nearby food to eat, so he is forced to go and find some elsewhere while Katara and Aang stay near their camp to do other chores.  Try to sound pissed off and demanding.

  • Let me go right now!  Are you not
    man enough to face me, the mighty Sokka!?

  • Honestly, woke up this morning thinking I’d have a nice normal day, but
    instead I’m stuck in a hole and I haven’t had lunch today.  What are you doing
    now? You doing more of that bending stuff?  I don’t see how doing practice now is going to
    help you.  You're just off in your
    own little waterbending world, bending water in a water bendy way.  Are you even listening to me?  Kya and Aang sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G!

  • Fine, I’ll go and find my own food, you two can stick around here and
    smooch or something.  And make sure that monkey of yours behaves, or otherwise I’ll
    cook it for dinner!

Gary will be a reoccurring minor character throughout the series.  He will sometimes be involved in an episodes plot, but most of his appearances will simply be comical.  He sounds a bit like Shaggy from the old Scooby Doo TV shows.

  • Random guard - "I'm dating this nice redhead chick."
    Gary - "What's her name?"
    Random guard - "Shantelle." 
    Gary - "Oh come on, you can tell me."

  • "Whoa, Lord Zuko, the
    Avatar hasn’t even begun his fire bending training, but he’s already spouting
    supa-hot fire!"

  • "Lord Zuko, when you say “Again”, do you want
    us to throw another fireball, or do you mean we’ll be swimming back to base
    like the last time someone pissed you off?  You
    had us swim back to base last week when we mixed up your uncle’s tea for
    whisky.  We still haven’t seen Dave since
    you threw us all overboard, and…"
