Ava's Demon Dub
Project Overview
Love the comic Ava's Demon by Michelle Czajkowski?
You should! With vibrant art, and endearing (and not so endearing) characters, this comic truly is a masterpiece.
As a major fan of Ava's Demon, I want to commemorate the comic with a fandub. Important things I would like to note:
This is a continuous project
With several chapters currently, and several more coming soon, VAs need to prepare to stick around for the long haul.
This project is for fun, not for funds
I will not be making money from this project, and I will not be paying VAs. This project is only meant as a tribute to the comic and is truly a passion project. If the dub does end up earning some profit, somehow, I will inform and properly pay all participating VAs. The likelihood on this occurring is not high, so don't plan on it.
VAs need decent microphones
No "pops", no background noise, no static. Just crisp audio please. If you are in doubt on the status of your microphone, feel free to audition anyways, but take this as a warning.
VAs need Discord
Discord is where line assignment and project updates will occur. Live direction is a little less likely because my computer's microphone doesn't work very well. Details still need sorted on live direction, but don't be surprised if I do use live direction for important scenes.
Prefer fans of the comic
Anyone can audition, but knowing the comic will make dubbing easier. I highly recommend the comic, whether auditioning or not, since it truly is a wonderful story. http://www.avasdemon.com Feel free to reference the comic when auditioning to better understand the tone of the characters. I have the pages listed before each audition line for ease of access.
Remember to have fun auditioning! Wishing everyone the best!

We are recasting for the roles of the Bird Trio/Arrow Triplets as well as Wrathia! Feel free to audition down below!
Wrathia is kinda the worst, if the lines don't say it all. She loves to tear Ava apart until their goals finally line up with creation of their pact. Even then, Wrathia takes every chance to flaunt her destructive power. Clearly a crazed woman who takes glee in others misery, Wrathia will kill with glee etched across her face. Yelling is her favorite past time, and will do manipulate Ava to do whatever she pleases.
Needs a deeper female voice. Snotty and yells often.
(Starting at panel 259, Wrathia admitting the consequences of the pact.)
[sheepishly] "If we fail to complete the pact... our souls combine... and our body becomes the sum of us: a monster of failure."
(Starting at panel 1335, Wrathia encouraging the destruction followers.)
[passionate, furious] "CAN YOU NOT READ MY THOUGHTS!? STOP BEING SCARED... AND START BEING FURIOUS. SHOW THEM WHAT IT REALLY MEANS TO BE A FOLLOWER OF TITAN!!!"
(Starting at panel 1875, in response to Ava remarking on the high of power she felt after drinking the vial.)
[maniac joy] "H A A H A HA HA HA HA!!! WUAAAH?! HOW! QUAINT! YOU THOUGHT... THIS WAS A 'HIGH' THAT YOU COULD COME DOWN FROM?! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAA! STILL SUCH A SIMPLE HUMAN!"
With the set of triplets, they each don't speak enough as of right now, to justify having a separate voice actor for each. So, for the time being, I will only be hiring one actress for all three sisters. For this role, I am seeking someone capable of making a slight change in tone. Crow and Raven can both have the same sassy tone, but I'm aiming for a more bubbly tone for Magpie, from the little bit of Magpie we've seen.
Once again, as chapters release, I may get a separate voice actress for Crow and Raven and then another voice actress for Magpie entirely.
(On panel 549, Crow is attempting to track device for Odin.)
[whispering] "Hey Crow... psst... hey!! Who gave that to you?"
(Crow responds, still whispering.)
"Who do you think!?"
(Panel 1441, Raven and Crow are trying to get Odin to leave.)
[grunting and shouting] Raven: "HNG- THE SOONER WE LEAVE- THE SOONER- YOU STOP EMBARRASSING YOURSELF!!"
(Panel 2274, when Magpie finds out that Odin is a vessel.)
[excited] Magpie: "Are you a Vessel, Odin!? Does that second signal mean you have one, too?! Odin? Does this mean you also have an inbisable Vessel friend? Is he nice like mine!?"
*inbisable is not a typo, it is genuinely the way Magpie speaks apparently
Ava Ire is a young teen girl with anxiety and a manipulative demon attached to her soul. An extremely sensitive young girl looking for a new life, she must kill the biggest tyrant in all of space, TITAN. She often behaves self-consciously, but still remains appropriately sassy. Cries often and deadpans like nobodies business. Occasionally will burst into flames, consuming an entire civilization.
VA should have a softer, frail voice for the character. Needs to be able to cry well.
(Starting at panel 2055, after Ava is smacked by Gil.)
"I deserved that. I'm sorry I'll just *sob* ...save myself *sob*... from further embarrassment *sniff* and... excuse myself *sob* to rid you of my presence."
(Starting at panel 78, in response to Odin stuttering trying to say wrench.)
"Wrench?"
(Odin threatens Ava.)
"No!! Look!! I dropped it, see?"
(Starting at panel 2955. Ava complaining about the pact she has made with Wrathia.)
"Especially with this drawer on me! It's repulsive and itchy! And giving me splinters in all the wrong PLACES!"
Odin Arrow is another host of a demon known as Pedri. Odin is the older brother to a set of triplets and the younger brother to Olai. Odin appears nervous, smoking frequently and stuttering often, but possesses great knowledge on TITAN and appears to be intelligent. He is tormented often by his demon, but often doesn’t seem phased by its appearance due to smoking. Once he’s comfortable, Odin can be relaxed and seems pretty caring to others.
Odin can be any male voice, but needs to be able to stutter consistently. Deeper preferred, but mainly focused on getting an accurate stutter.
(On panel 727, after Gil states he's a follower of TITAN.)
"Oh. Y-you're in TITAN's cult. Th-That explains a lot."
(On panel 1642, after Ava falls down from her murderous rampage.)
[apologetically, then confused/concerned] "I didn't m-mean to desert you... h-honest. That' not the r-reason why you're like this... is it?"
(On panel 2231, when Ava describes Wrathia to Odin.)
[amused] "L-Like these ones? S-so they are real."
Maggie, Maggie, Maggie. A blunt, force to be wrecken' with who harasses Ava and manipulates everyone else. She often lies to get what she wants. The only character meaner than Maggie is Wrathia, a literal demon. Unlike Wrathia, Maggie does have some heart. She seeks true love, despite her bitter nature towards almost everyone. She's intelligent and possesses plant powers that make her dangerous. She does show compassion occasionally, but that's a rarity.
I'm open to many ranges of voice for Maggie. Looking for a voice on the deeper end, just past mid-range. Slightly higher than mid-range is also an option. Needs to be able to yell.
(On panel 343, when Maggie first meets Gil.)
[Flirtatiously] "Maggie! You can call me Maggie."
(On panel 374, after Gil starts talking adamantly about TITAN.)
[Lying] "Eeeee- yeeeeeaaaaahhhhh...! Dang, those were all the words I was just about to say..."
(Starting on panel 851, Maggie attempts to persuade Tuls to help her.)
[persuading] "So... Tuls, darling, I need you to work your magic again. Pretty please?"
[Tuls responds, stating this isn't the first time Maggie has asked this.]
[offended] "Yeah, SO!? What are you tryin' to say!?"
Gil Marverde is a devoted follower of a dictator known as TITAN. He's a picture perfect citizen and refuses to stray from his duties as a follower. He's generally compassionate unless provoked. He tends to be ignorant and gets very angry when his beliefs are placed into question.
Preferably a high to mid range male voice. Needs a soft, gentle voice.
(Starting on panel 416, Gil first meets Nevy as a child.)
[empathetic] "Are you alright, miss? I feel like I've seen you before. But... you're too peculiar to be from this planet. Perhaps you're lost? Do you have name?"
(Starting on panel 2007, after Nevy learns who she is and begins brainwashing Ava.)
[broken and quietly] "She can see Nevy... I'm not crazy... I'm not crazy..."
(Starting on 2348, when Maggie asks to make out.)
[sassy, and ignorant] "Sorry to have to go and ruin your fun idea... but I'm afraid we can't just make out of a moving craft, like that. I mean, for TITAN's sake, Maggie... we're in the middle of space. We don't even have the proper suits for that kind of environment."
(Similar to Tuls, we have yet to see much of the character, so dialogue amounts could be few and far between. As of right now, he is being marked as a supporting but could potentially become a lead.)
Pedri seems to be the quiet type from the few moments we see him, but rarely misses the opportunity to do something real twisted. He takes quiet pleasure in his sadistic behavior and finds humor in his host, just like his demonic wife, Wrathia. As of right now, not a lot is known about Pedri, except he’s menacing in every sense of the word.
Looking for deeper, gravelly voices, due to Pedri’s menacing nature.
(On panel 2237, when Odin is ignoring Pedri.)
[disgust] "DARE YOU DENY ME THE PLEASURE OF EVEN COMMUNICATING WITH MY WIFE? YOU WEAK AND PATHETIC EXCUSE FOR A LIFEFORM? IF POSSESSING YOUR REPULSIVE CORPOREAL FORM DID NOT EXPEL MY SOUL IN WRETCHED SICKNESS, I WOULD PUT YOU OUT OF YOUR MISERY RIGHT HERE AND NOW."
(On panel 2242, after Odin starts smoking to repel Pedri's presence.)
[frustrated] "I GROW SO WEARY OF THIS ATTACHMENT!!! WHY CAN YOU NOT JUST END MY SUFFERING?! UNSHACKLE ME FROM THIS MONOTONOUS MIND PRISON AND THROW YOURSELF INTO THE AIRLESS VOID!!!"
(0n panel 2146, after Ava catches Odin in his lie.)
[heartily] "HAH! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA!"
(Just like Pedri, we have seen very little of Tuls throughout the comic. As of right now, we have only seen him in two chapters, but he spoke most of these chapters. No gurantees on line count for both Tuls and Pedri.)
Tuls Tenebrose was originally a guard to his crush, Ranunculae. After dying at the hands of TITAN, his motive is to find protect Ranunculae and confess his love for her. Tuls shows little motivation to much else and is solely concerned with his crush. He's a very monotone character who often acts very depressed and lovesick.
Looking for a monotone, sad voice. Mid range to deep.
(On panel 841, Tuls is painting a portrait of Ranunculae.)
[dreamily] "Sweet... kind... Ranunculae..."
(Panel 853, Tuls concerned about overusing his magic.)
[concerned] "I'm getting weaker with every passing day. If I do this for you... it might be the last time before I run out of magic completely. You know that, don't you?"
(On panel 866, when Maggie gives Tuls a 'cherished item'.)
[exasperated] "Hm... I see... I suppose... this will have to do."
Nevy is the demon to Gil and is sad alone when we first meet her. She is scared because she has no memory of her past life and only knows her name. Once she remembers, Nevy becomes pained with her old memories. She is a confident and angry woman. We don't know a lot about Nevy after this revelation since she hasn't came back into the story since this chapter.
Her voice needs to be crisp and powerful, but also capable of softer tones, due to the dynamic change in personality she makes. Any range except extreme highs and lows.
(On panel 483, when Nevy is first speaking to Gil.)
[sadly] "I think... my name is Nevy. And I think my name is all I have."
(Panel 1972, Nevy sees the drawing of herself in Ava's book.)
[elated] "OH! Goodness! Are you seeing this, Gil?! It's me! IT'S ME! She KNOWS who I AM! This is fate, Gil! [softer] There is order to the madness we're drowning in, after all!"
(Starting on panel 1985, after remembering Wrathia.)
*Scream*
(Later on panel 1995)
[anger]
"TRAITOR WHO KILLED THYSELF IN COWARDICE WHILE RIVERS OF BLOOD FLOWED THROUGH THE RUINS OF HER EMPIRE!"
Strategos SIx is the second in command to our main villain, TITAN. She serves as the catalyst to Ava unleashing Wrathia's true powers. She is very manipulative and acts as a cult leader by praying on people who are emotionally fragile.
Her voice needs to be fairly average. Mid-range with not too much emotion.
(On panel 1213, Strategos announcing chosen follower to enter Paradise.)
[excited] "And so... the lucky follower... who will be able to use the Gate to Paradise this evening... will be..."
(A pause later)
"OUR WINNER!!! Come on up here, Follower!"
(On panel 1229, when Ava refuses to get on stage.)
[annoyed] "Someone get her up here, please."
(Starting on panel 1245, Strategos convincing Ava to enter the Gate to Paradise.)
[false sympathy] "Let's be honest, here- You probably wake up every morning hoping to find reasons in your day to keep living... and yet the sun rises and sets and you still haven't found a single reason. And the only thing helping you sleep at night is the hope that tomorrow will be better."
This role is currently held for any random female characters + Merita. When auditioning for this role, feel free to try different voice types for the first 2 sets of lines. For the Merita line, please use a soft and compassionate voice for her.
*bloodcurdling scream*
[annoyed] "Please step to the front of the line."
(panel 1796, Merita is first introduced and is contacted by Raven and Crow.)
[happy/relieved] "Lady Ravenia, Lady Crowlie! Olai has most certainly ruined your Mother's study, has he not?"
This role is currently held for Generic Male characters + the TITAN broadcaster voice. Feel free to try multiple voice types for the first two lines of dialogue provided. For the third line, please use a monotone, machine-like voice and no voice filters please.
*scream*
[unsure] "You alright there, ma'am?"
(Starting panel 1833, criminal alert broadcast.)
[flat/monotone] Attention- This is a criminal alert broadcast- be on the lookout for the individuals pictured below- wanted for crimes against the followers of TITAN and TITAN Incorporated"
