Thank you for your interest in auditioning for ATARA: Of Land and Sea. We are currently casting for five principal roles in the ATARA pilot, along with two roles whose identities will not be disclosed due to spoilers. The individual cast will learn the role after auditions. ATARA is a project inspired by visual novel style games that will be published on YouTube. These roles are recurring and this is a long term project. Please note that this is an [UNPAID] passion project at this time. However, should the series achieve success and generate sufficient resources, we hope to offer compensation for future work.

SYNOPSIS: ATARA: Of Land and Sea is a world where humans, merfolk, dragons, harpies, and countless other beings coexist uneasily. The story follows Ira, a determined young adventurer on a quest to become “the greatest pirate captain alive.” Along the way, she assembles a crew of lovable misfits, each with their own secrets. But Ira’s journey is far from simple. A civil war is tearing Atara apart as people and large powers clash over the fate of the mythical races. Meanwhile, the ocean, a lifeline for all who call Atara home, has begun to wither mysteriously. As tensions rise and the waters grow strange, Ira must uncover the truth behind the dying sea before everything she loves is lost.
REQUIREMENTS:
Suitable home recording setup/decent audio quality. Auditions with poor quality, (poor mic, echoes, background noise) will not be considered at this time.
Must be willing to scream/cry/yell, make strange noises, and cuss.
To be considered, the lines provided for the character(s) you are auditioning for must be recorded.

Please record each line only once, ABC format. If we call you back you will be asked to read more lines.
Thoroughly listen to the provided voice references for the character(s) you are auditioning for, we are open to interpretations of the characters voices that are different from the provided vocal references!
Those who are called back for a role will be contacted and provided more lines to voice.
Those who are offered a role will be contacted back with further information.

Beneath her bright and bubbly personality, Ira is a teenager who yearns for the same things anyone her age does. Friendship, acceptance, and a place to belong. Compassionate and caring by nature, she often overthinks her words and actions, worried about how others perceive her. Her naivety and impulsive streak sometimes gets her into trouble, but they also make her earnest, unpredictable, and deeply herself.

Why don't you help me? But- we can’t just steal like... an apple; it has to be something meaningful! Something cool!
(panic and fear shifts to self soothing through belief that she's going insane) Hey! hey… you can hear me right?! Tell me you can! No…. No no no! This is crazy, this can't be happening! You're just delusional Ira! Yeah… you're insane!

Azulo is Ira’s right-hand man. Stubborn, sharp-tongued, and convinced that life is a dare he’s destined to win. He carries the pride of someone who truly believes he can charm or fight his way out of anything, or fight anyone who gets in his way. But beneath all the rough edges and showy persona is a fiercely loyal, unexpectedly kind heart. Once Azulo decides someone is his crew, his devotion is absolute. He’ll throw himself into fire, storm, or sea for them without hesitation or complaint. Stubborn courage masking a depth of loyalty he refuses to admit out loud.

Kow is a small but mighty adventurer, shaped by the war in Atara and the need to fend for himself. He’s learned to survive through quick hands, sneaky tricks, and clever lies, skills that make him seem bratty or mischievous to anyone meeting him for the first time. With no one to rely on but himself, he’s grown used to keeping people at arm’s length, trusting his instincts more than anyone’s promises. Yet beneath that prickly exterior is a silly and funny kid who longs for family. He’s mysterious, even the crew doesn’t know much about where he came from.

Taeden is a misunderstood, often overlooked inventor with a mind far sharper than most give him credit for. Born with a deformity in his leg that has worsened over time, he hides the true extent of his condition to avoid being seen as weak. He carries a cane, claiming it’s simply for “emergency protection”. Soft-spoken but endlessly witty, he has a clever comeback ready when he wants to win an argument, or get a bargain. His intelligence is valuable, and his presence far quieter than the chaos around him. Despite his confidence in his inventions, he grows visibly nervous when the conversation shifts toward his body or physical limits, a vulnerability he tries hard to mask.

Camille is a sweet, considerate woman with a gentle presence; she has a fierceness that surfaces when it’s truly needed. She runs a small adventurers’ guild by the harbor in Atara, drawing on years of experience from her time sailing the seas alongside Ira’s father. After retiring from that life, she was asked to watch over Ira, whose reckless streak tends to get her into trouble. Camille agreed without hesitation, and over time has come to see Ira as one of her own, someone worth protecting with her whole heart. A skilled fighter armed with her twin pistols, Camille keeps the crew grounded and focused. She’s observant, quietly brave, and incredibly steady in a crisis. To the crew, Camille is an anchor.
