Project Overview
Hello and thank you for checking out my casting call page!
The casting call will be for my animated short film called “Archives”, a big project for my school assignment. I’ve chosen to make an animated short film because all my life I’ve always had quite an imagination - especially for fantasy - and now that I’ve been given the chance, I will be able to bring these characters to life… but not without your help.
I am currently doing the thumbnailing/storyboarding, with the character designs finished. And now I’m looking for a small team to make this dream a reality.
The small team will include:
3 VAs (2 male VAs and 1 female VA)
Sound designers/Foley Artists
Animators
SYNOPSIS:
So the short film “ARCHIVES” (a working title) is meant to somewhat parallel the burning down of libraries in history - especially the Great Library of Alexandria. However, this is set in a fantasy world with the library being set in the middle of a forest, where it is filled by the worthiest of scholars and scribes, and the main character (the founder and head of the whole establishment) named Aldric, protecting the sacred place.
Aldric and his followers studied in peace until one day, his old enemy, Lonan, was sent by the king to propose an arrangement to Aldric - to claim the library as the King’s property. When Aldric refuses, he faces the consequences of finding his whole library set ablaze, with his scholars inside.
GUIDELINES:
To be a part of this project, the age requirement is 16+

The Protagonist
Aldric is intelligent and serious and may be quite irritated when disturbed during his time of studying. He does not express many "extreme" emotions and does keep himself level-headed. It's quite hard to tell his emotion from time to time unless it's when he is annoyed.
In the project, he is meant to give off the features and characteristics of an owl.
For this role I'm looking for a male VA that can be "well-spoken" and mature and low-sounding when in character.

(suspicious) ...what are you trying to imply?
(confused) "safe from harm"? But we have never faced any sort of danger in these woods.
The Antagonist
Like Aldric, Lonan is intelligent and highly respected, however does have different ideals from his. As a representative for the King, she stays poised yet rather pretentious, giving Aldric snarky remarks when she has the chance. Lonan may sound proud and smug, especially when she speaks to Aldric.
In this project, she is meant to be depicted with the features of a raven/crow, an enemy to owls.
For this role I'm looking for a female VA who is also very well-spoken and mature-sounding, meanwhile still coming off as very prideful and smug.

(snarky and teasingly) Gods, being cooped up in the library with your other scribes really doesn’t give you much time to actually look in the mirror.
Minor Character
A young scholar who studies in the library and, although a minor role, his name gravely foreshadows the very end of the film.
I'm looking for a young male VA who sounds quite nervous and on-edge when being spoken to.

Your role is to help animate the key frames and the in-between frames. The storyboard will be provided for you, however, you may be flexible with the panels, though you will need to let the director know first.

Your role is to collaborate with the director to produce original instrumentals that fit into the events of the specific scenes and create a very impactful atmosphere, invoking emotion in the audience.

As the audio engineer, your job is to sync the VA audio and instrumentals in the video. You will also be asked to find certain sounds/sound effects suitable for the scenes and the characters' actions.
