Animalia Will Have to See the Light: Recruitment call

Project Overview

First, please watch the overview trailer: Animalia - Overview Trailer

Hopefully, that will answer your questions about what kind of show this is.

This show contains gore, and violent themes, so it's intended for adults/older teens. There is no sexual content whatsoever.

No AI Whatsoever

We haven't used AI in any capacity so far, and we're not going to start now. We can't except submissions which use AI generated media. Try to audition with something you've made yourself instead.

Introduction
Animalia is a story about humanity's interconnectedness with nature, and their inseparability from it. It's about squaring off against human-born oppression and getting back in touch with what matters most. The basic premise is: Mutant anthropomorphic animals called Animalians, are transforming their feral counterparts into more of their own, but some animals would rather live freely in the wild, than in a brutal dystopian dictatorship. Join Moss and her pack as they protect feral life from an evil supremacist empire and uncover a dark conspiracy that threatens the very foundations of the earth and life itself.

What is expected

This project is an animated pilot with a whopping 49-minute duration! As a result, the project might take years to complete. I know that committing years of work to something might scare some people off, so I've set it up to allow people to join for as long as they want and quit when they feel like. However, you will only be paid for completed work on a "section, by section" basis. You'll need to have finished at least one section for payment. Payment values are based on how much an individual section is worth, so if you stick with us for years, you might earn thousands of dollars over the course of the project. Additionally, I expect you to treat the team with respect, and dignity. You can use any software you wish for each role, but if you're going to be an animator there is an exception there. You need to be able to work in Adobe Animate for that role. Worst case scenario, I'll try to find a way to work with you even if you don't use the same programs as me, but we'll see... Additionally, I expect you to be able to imitate my art style close enough that the average observer can't tell the difference. Perfectly matching my style is not required, just make sure it's "close enough".

What you can expect from us

Our team is kind, accepting, and relatively easy to get along with. It will be quite common for me to ask for a revision or a change if something's not quite right, before I consider a part done. There are no strict deadlines for anything, but I'll encourage you to work efficiently. You will be paid after you complete any one part if you want, or I can save it, and pay you more later. PayPal is most convenient.

Latest Updates

  • ONE MORE UPDATE ABOUT ANIMATION

While perfect consistency is not expected with my art style, enough consistency such that the average person can't tell the difference is expected. Make sure you're able to draw in my art style as close as possible.

  • IMPORTANT INFO PLEASE READ

Despite what I thought, some important information was missing in the description. I'll add it in for any newcomers, but for everyone else, here's what you need to know: You can use any software you want for each role, EXCEPT for the animation, we use Adobe Animate, and Blender, with the main focus on Adobe animate based animation. To avoid complications, please make sure you can work in Adobe Animate. Sorry for the inconvenience!

  • Sorry I haven't responded to anyone yet

I've received inquiries here, and on Discord, about the project. I wanted you to know that I'm not ignoring these messages, I'm just too busy to respond at this time. If I can get back to you, it will be later. Thanks so much for your interest so far.

I'm looking for background art that's similar to the magnificent post-apocalyptic style of Aidelank. Here is a link to his website: Aidelank | 3D Concept Artist
As you can see, you may use a blend of realistic 3d, and more stylized 2d art, but keep in mind this will all have to integrate with stylized 2d characters. You can feel free to bring your own style if you have any ideas. I'd also recommend looking into the book: Detroit Disassembled by Andrew Moore since the episode takes place partly in Detroit after an apocalypse. I'll only be able to pay a total of $1000 for all work on the backgrounds, which given the high detail I'm looking for might only amount to a few unique backgrounds. I'm thinking about four, backgrounds at about $250 each. I understand that's still a little low, but I can't afford much more than that. I hope you understand. Participation should be predicated on a genuine interest in the project and its message.

you'll have the opportunity to sound design everything we've finished so far, and eventually, you'll be able to do additional parts as they become available. There is currently only one part up for sound design at this time, and seven more will become available as we continue. That means you could earn a total of $400 USD.

This is the hard one, I'll expect you to finish the animation on a cut, by cut basis. Each cut is its own payout. I'll expect you to completely finish the animation for each cut, going through all the steps of production by following the storyboards. I'll also be able to help animate anything, so if help is needed, I'll try my best! The pilot episode is a whopping 49 minutes long, while I'd like you to stay for the years it will take to finish this project, I'd understand if you eventually need to leave. you can join and leave at any time, after being selected, but I'll only pay you for the completed work you do. Each cut will be worth $50 which I know is tiny, but if you did for example: 10 cuts, you'd earn $500 It's up to you how long you stick with it, and how much you'll earn. There are hundreds, and hundreds of cuts in the full pilot. I can only afford to pay for so many cuts, so if you reach the point I can no longer pay you for your labor, you've done enough! EDIT: Apparently, I forgot to mention what animation program we use... How I didn't notice is beyond me, but we use Adobe Animate. Please make sure you can work in Adobe Animate. We also use Blender, so for Blender, I may be able to make an exception. Worst case scenario, I'll try to find a way to work with you even if you use a program different than the ones we use. Sorry again for the inconvenience. EDIT#2 I also need you to have semi-consistency with my art style so that it's not jarring for the average person while watching. I can't believe I forgot these important details. Sorry guys...

If you can use compositing programs like After Effects, this is the role for you, but the amount of work I expect is very light. You'll get to composite the stuff we've gotten done so far, and I'd appreciate it if you could stick around for the whole project, since every section needing compositing, is its own payout. There is currently only one part up for composition at this time, and seven more will become available as we continue. That means you could earn a total of $160 USD
