Amusement Musings (Comedy audio short/pilot)
Project Overview
Amusement Musings is a planned comedy Audio short (about 10 minutes long) that I've been working on with some voice actor friends of mine with the intention of uploading it to my Youtube channel as a just-for-fun project. However, I have some ideas on how to develop it further, so if it gets positive reception I may look into turning it into a full on comedy podcast series.
If you submit a clean sounding recording with minimal-to-no background noise then I don't care if you're using professional voice recording equipment or just some discount mic that happens to sound good.
The plot of Amusement Musings is centered on industry news in a world that's become obsessed with theme parks ever since all the amusement venues in California have merged into one unholy abomination that has been spreading through North America like wildfire, turning every peaceful community and sleepy town in it's path into a neverending, colorful, plasticy hellscape of joy, wonders, and big expensive metal things that make you wanna barf before getting back in line to barf again.
It's a ridiculous, absurd, slightly terrifying world (think Welcome to Night Vale meets Wooden Overcoats meets Disneyland meets that one documentary you might've seen once about that one really awful waterpark).
It's aimed at a general, wide audience, while giving the occasional winks and nods to the actual Amusement Park industry.

Jackie is a teenager that started working a minimum wage job at a waterpark and, despite her wishes, ended up running the entire place by herself. She is panicked, overworked, but... Somehow manages to keep things together. Usually. She is unfortunate enough to be a sane, capable person in a world of cartoony idiots.
In the pilot episode she is mostly freaked out as the responsibility of running the park first falls on her. If this is adapted into a series, she will become a recurring character and the initial wide-eyed fear will be replaced with the frustration of someone who's job sucks but they have no choice but to accept it.

They can't be serious, right...? I... ((realizing something)) Oh my god that's why my assignment sheet came in a binder that said "Good luck" on it! I thought that was a joke! I can't... Wait, if that wasn't a joke... ((Full on panic)) OH GOD THE WATER PUMPS!
What?! NO! Not quit- I need- I need this job, I have student loans with a very strict payment plan and I need the college credit, I literally can't quit, I just meant--
((Overworked)) Yes I'll be right there, I just have to clean the toilets... Or build new ones. And-- Sir! sir! please don't climb on-- ((with resignation, as she's ignored)) --okay.
A nerdy woman who's special interest is theme parks. She is REALLY into them and travels the world to visit them. But her enthusiasm can often be misguided or she can be kind of clueless of the world around her or basically anything that isn't an amusement park.

((Happy)) We are so honored. The love and support the community has shown to this once wonderful if dilapidated childhood treasure of ours has been absolutely heartwarming.
I am happy to report that due to the amazing amount of funds raised and meeting nearly all of our stretch goals, the prints on the t-shirts will be using SEVERAL DIFFERENT COLORS. We are currently leaning towards Blue and slightly darker blue.
What do you mean you don't care?! It's a NEW. COASTER. ...NEW COASTER!!!
I need an intro/outro music for this project, Something energetic and fun (but long enough to read a few lines of credits over). As for the style, currently in mind I have "Fatboy Slim - Build it up, tear it down" as a point of reference but if you want to go in a completely different direction that sounds more "Amusement park-y" that's fine too.
If this ends up becoming a series and I manage to monetize it somehow, you may be asked to make a longer version of the theme song and/or variants of it.
