Alexandra Skies (NaNoRenO visual novel)
Project Overview
Alexandra Skies (working title) is a visual novel that will begin production in March at the start of NaNoRenO (videogame jam). This game is for audiences 13 years or older due to violence, semi-explicit gory images and implied sexual themes (tentative). It explores the depths of gender roles, sex-equality and differences in class status between characters (tentative). It is undecided if this game will include full voice acting or just partial. All names and lines in the vn are tentative (as I am unsure if they can be decided before RenO), but once the auditions end, the names will be emailed to the VAs that received those roles.
Though auditions are allowed through February 29th, Team Darknesse will be examining all auditions beginning February 15th so that scripts can be emailed at a reasonable enough time to work with the VA's schedules.

Princess Alexandra's mother, the queen is a collected, calming presence in the storyline, providing Alexandra with support and advice whenever things seem to be getting out of hand. She has an air of regality, but not arrogance and her voice is motherly.
"Hello, darling, I trust you are having a good day?"
"I think this to be the perfect chance for our young child to learn more about both kingdoms."
(reprimanding) "Darling, I understand you wish for the kingdom to be in safe hands, but you must remember that she is your daughter. Her happiness is also important."
The catalyst for the story's events, the witch enjoys going around kidnapping nobles and causing mayhem within the kingdoms. She often enjoys having people come to save the noble and will disappear before they can get the upperhand in a fight. She is playful and carefree with a low feminine voice.
(light-hearted) "I'm going, I'm going!"
"Quite the vocal one, he is. I suppose it comes with being a prince."
(good-natured) "Fare thee well, Your Majesty! Enjoy your marriage. And do give my regards to your mother."
"This will catch a hefty fee when I sell it."
(roaring) "I'll kill you! You disgusting slave-dog!"
(seductive) "I find warriors quite attractive. But surely the armor isn't all I get to see?"
The best friend of the first squire, they often help in making the adjustments and voice fears that could be taken into account. Being around the same age as the first squire, their voice should also be higher, but not necessarily child-like.
(fearful) "What if the catapult shoots in the wrong direction?"
"I can't see it anymore. You might want to turn down the strength."
(excited) "I can't believe you shot down a STAR!"
Alexandra is the princess of a prosperous land. Diagnosed with albinism at birth, she still finds time to enjoy the outdoors and interact with her people. She learns etiquette lessons from her mother and politics from her father, taking small notes on kindness from the castle populace. She seeks peace and has very little patience for arrogance or cruelty.
(exasperated) "Father, I do not enjoy his company."
(authoritative) "Wasting time over such trivial matters is not why you were chosen."
(pleading) "And what if one of the guards falls ill? Your warriors are not as trained in healing as I am."
(aggressive) "What do you want with me, witch?"
"I believe Father wants us to marry within the fortnight. Our wedding will fall on the celebration of my kingdom's birth."
(arrogant) "The peasantry is fond of the terrain, but I can hardly be bothered to socialize with them to find out why."
The star crashes to earth after being hit with a projectile from an experimental catapult. They have little knowledge of the World aside from the fact that other fallen stars have rarely returned. They are initially aggressive and distrusting of the humans they find, expecting to be attacked at any moment. The star takes the form of a woman because that was the first form they came into contact with, but has no concept of gender or sex.
(shocked and confused) "WHAT in the system is a WOMAN?"
(flirty and/or impressed) "Well, well. It seems her majesty has some tricks up her sleeve after all."
(awkward) "I... apologize for my earlier impudence. I have heard many tales of this world and I suppose my behavior is stemmed from fear. I ask your forgiveness, Your Majesty."
This role is likely to be given to two different people because of the two different personalities needed for it. However, all of the guards are older men and seasoned warriors, believing as the Knight does, that a woman has no place in battle. Their voices should either be gruff and low or smooth and medium-low.
"But this... STAR is a woman!"
(respectfully) "His Highnesses request your presence in the Dining Hall."
(frantic) "Your Majesty, take my bags! Hurry!"
(happy) "I think it a wonderful idea that the two of you are getting along."
(angry) "It is far too dangerous for you to go after the kidnapper!"
(fatherly) "I have only ever wanted you to do as your heart told you. That will always be what is best for the kingdom."
The squire that shot down the star, they are an inventor, often making adjustments and improvements to objects around the castle to make work easier for the servants. They are still fairly young, so a slightly higher voice is appropriate.
(excitedly) "I can't wait until I can show Sir Michaelo my improvements!"
(apologetic) "I meant no harm. It was supposed to be a test run.
(awed) "You're a REAL shooting star?"
A private guard sent for protection with Princess Alexandra on her quest, the knight is a seasoned warrior brought up to believe that the men are always supposed to protect the women. It comes as a shock to the gruff man when the star is able to use a sword on the same skill level as himself, but over the course of the journey, the pair form a friendship stemmed from respect of the other's skills.
"A woman has no place in battle! Lay down your sword and retreat at once!"
"Your Majesty! We cannot allow every passerby you see fit to tag along on such an important mission!"
(awkward) "I... would like to thank you for assisting me, especially since it was not your first choice."
The prince's father, the second king is a misogynist who values the state of his personal finances and luxury over that of his kingdom. He often completely ignores the presence or advice of women and has a short temper when he believes he is being outsmarted. His voice is that of an older male; feel free to add an accent if you feel the need.
"Sly move, my friend. You planned for this the whole time, did you not?"
"This is an OUTRAGE!"
(conspiratorial whisper) "The financial state of our kingdom depends on this marriage. You MUST make the princess you bride."
