Ajin Abridged Parody

Project Overview

Hello Casting Call Club,


As the title of this thread describes, I am currently looking for voice talent for an Ajin abridged series. For context, we have released the first episode as a celebration for our 100th video on the channel. Since then, a small, but sizeable
following has been asking for a continuation. So, here are ready to oblige the masses.

For your benefit, the first episode is attached to this post as the explainer video.

The abridged series like many others takes a meta-approach to the show, meaning that characters are aware that they are indeed a part of a story-world. The world of Ajin-Abridged is one where meta-physical forces, which manifest themselves in the form of invisible black matter, drive change. The main way that the show tries to do this is by creating main characters to drive the plot forward. The world's governments are wary of this. After all, it is the objective of  governments to keep things as stable as they can. So in response, their best-minds and military personnel are always on top of new characters popping up. They capture them trying to dissect them, however they are no closer to understanding the way characters work, let alone this strange story world. 

Please keep in mind what we're looking for and the references provided are just guidelines. Don't be afraid to apply for a role, or multiple roles, even if you don't think you're a good fit. 

I'd like to thank all of those who audition in advance.

Please understand there are only a handful of roles, and if you are not given immediate consideration for a main role, I will keep your audition on file in the likely scenario we need additional voice talent. Individuals who have seen the 

source material, or intend to watch the source material are highly preferred.

The commitment required for this project is roughly once a month. If you are not comfortable with this schedule, please do not apply. 



WAV or AAC preferred, MP3 acceptable. Sample rate should ideally be 44100hz.



A fair word of warning here, the source material contains blood, gore, and a tonne of violence. The abridged series will obviously also contain that, as well as profanity, racial jokes, and other such vulgarities. If you aren't comfortable with that material, please do not apply.

(Source material description:)
The head of operations at the Ajin management committee, Tosaki's task is to investigate and capture any new Ajin. He's 
a cold calculating man with ambitions for his career. But this is not without reason. Months prior to the events of Ajin,
his fiance was taken ill and rendered comatose. As he was unable to pay her medical bills with his salary, he was forced
to take on more morally questionable work. This moral flexibility becomes the source of conflict for Tosaki in the later
parts of the series. 

(Abridged material description:)
An anime critic who previously ran a successful YouTube channel, which specialized on characterization criticism. Tosaki 
was on top of the world until his channel was taken offline by copyright strikes and his fiance rendered comatose from an 
unknown illness. Desperate and depressed, Tosaki got the chance of a life time when the Japanese government needed men 
with his kind of expertise. Now Tosaki is a specialist in the capture of main characters. 

In terms of personality, Tosaki is still very uptight and overly critical. He has more so an obsession with controlling
and dominating situations, and becomes very agitated when anyone questions his authority. In addition to this, he can 
often come off as a condescending know-it-all considering his knowledge base.

What we're looking for in the voice: mid to high range, raspy, good ennunciation.
References you can use: Seto Kaiba (Yu-Gi-Oh!) Qrow (RWBY albeit less raspy)

  • "Kei Nagai, we finally meet. Tell me do you know what a main character is made out of? He he, of course you don't.How about we figure that out together? Doctors, proceed."

  • "I can’t tell you too much, but should this plot progress too far, our normal little world will come crashing down. It’s our job to stop all main characters before they happen."

  • Araki: "Ah hello Mr. Tozaki we've been expecting--"Tosaki: "It's Tosaki."Araki: "Huh?"Tosaki: "You said Tozaki, as if it were spelled with a Z. Please do not speak my name with your plebian bastardization ofNihongo."Araki: "Right..."

(Source material description:)
Tosaki's bodyguard and assistant, Shimomura is also an secretly an Ajin. She is often quiet and reserved, usually only
speaking when spoken to, or to Tosaki directly. 

(Abridged description:)
The obligatory female character, Shimomura finds herself the unwilling object of otaku affections. She tries to remain 
professional and poised, but for reasons unknown the plot persists with trying to turn her into a moe / fanservice 
character. She is more outspoken and willing to contradict Tosaki in the abridged series than the source material. 

What we're looking for in the voice: mid to high range, unintentionally moe.

  • "I don’t like their chances. They’re too slow, we should call for reinforcements. Or better yet, I can--"

  • Eriko: "I do remember this one time by the river, he saw something... almost like a ghost."Izumi stands up in shock. Izumi: "The ghost! Was it black?"Eriko: "Wait, I never said anything about the ghost  being bl- african american."Shocked again, Izumi sits down. Izumi: "Oh no, I've said too much. Wait am I blushing? God damn it animators!" Eriko: "(In her head): What's with her?"Suddenly a giant black spike impales Izumi straight through the stomach from behind.Izumi: "Ahh! *coughs*"Izumi coughs up blood and dies one second later. 

  • Tanaka's ghost surveys the scene. Suprisingly, Izumi stands up. Although she is bloodied, the large wound is now missing. Izumi: "What do we say to the Gods of Death?"Tanaka: "Huh?"Izumi: "Not today."

(Source material description:)
A mysterious Ajin known by the codename "the hat," Satou's primary objective is to lead an Ajin insurgency to usurp the
Japanese government. Although he states his objective is a country for Ajin, no one is certain as to what his real 
intentions are. He is a very skilled military operator, tactician, and politican making him a terrifying adversary. 

(Abridged description:)
Satou has long figured out how the world works and uses it to his advantage. His ultimate goal is to become the main
character, and ultimately the God of the Ajin story world. His through knowledge of story structure, character
development, and tropes makes him a very worth adversary for anyone standing in his way. Satou remains largely the same 
from his source material counterpart in terms of personality, albeit more sarcastic.

What we're looking for in the voice: Lower-pitch, high energy.

  • "You see, Nagai. I've come to understand the way this world operates. For reasons unknown, people are designated main characters either by the world itself or some sort of creator. This means whoever is designated gains immense power. It is for this reason the government persecutes us. However, we have the power to make a difference, henceme leading this character's association."

  • "Ahh young Tosaki! it's been a while hasn't it? How's the wife? Oh wait."

(Source material description)
Satou's second in command, Tanaka finds himself on the run after word got out of his Ajin status. He was also once captured 
and experimented on until Satou freed him.  He is somewhat an idealist and truly believes in Satou's vision for a country
where Ajin and humans can coexist.

(Abridged description)
A man who wanted to live a simple life, but he finds himself an unwilling character. His loyalty and idealism from the source
material remains, however it is going to be used for comedy as he is very slow to realize what Satou's true intentions are.

(Source material description)
Kei's little sister. The two of them were very close when they were kids, but as Kei got older they began to drift apart. 
She has a disgust for Ajin, viewing them as inhuman, but is conflicted when she discovers her brother is one of them. She
is also currently in hospital with an unknown illness.

(Abridged material description)
Still Kei's little sister, she wants a quiet life and to recover in peace. The media frenzy and police have other plans 
however. She initially harbours no ill will towards her brother, behaving as a standard anime little sister trope, however
this eventually reaches a tipping point and her resentment flares. 

What we're looking for in the voice: middle to higher pitch, reserved and soft spoken.

  • Eriko: "Kei! Why are you here? You never visit."Kei: "Well, I was here asking doctor Kawasaki for a co-op placement."Eriko: "Oh... I see. It's not like I wanted you to visit me anyway."

  • Eriko: "It was the day that our puppy died. We went to bury him by the river, except my brother didn't seem bothered by it."Eriko is crying on the ground at the sight of the dead puppy.Kei: "Welp fuck, time to get a cat amirite?"Eriko: "What the hell did you just say?"Kei: "Or maybe a frog. Pepe is all the rage right now. Anon says so."Eriko: "It was at that moment I knew my brother... was an autist."

  • Eriko: "Kei?! What are you doing here?"Kei: "Eriko, we've got to go!"Kei grabs his sister's hand and sprints down the hallway out of sight of the angry mob.Eventually, they out run them and stop to catch their breath.Kei: "Eriko, you aren't hurt are-"Eriko: "Kei, what the fuck?!"Kei is noticeably taken aback.Eriko: "You didn't think to call me or something first? Oh no no no. God forbid you give your sister a heads up aboutthe frickin' angry mob descending on the hospital."Kei: "Look, Eriko there isn't time."
