Project Overview
A Tale of Two Tails is a 30-minute cozy animated short that balances lighthearted humor with emotional introspection.
The story follows two foxes who find themselves in an abandoned mountain shrine. As they work together to restore it, their efforts blossom into a friendship that helps them confront their personal struggles.
I'm looking for a composer who can also handle sound design, as the animation currently includes only a minimal sound effects pass. Since there are no real action scenes or layered/busy environments, it should just need some light additional work to fill things out.
For the music, I don't have a super specific vision yet, but the project definitely has an Asian-inspired feel. I'd love to hear things like koto or shakuhachi in key moments, or even xylophone. That said, I don't want it to lean too heavily into "traditional" territory. The soul of the film is really about personal growth, so the score should feel intimate and character-driven rather than cultural or epic.
Timeline is roughly 4–6 weeks, which would include spotting, rough drafts, a midway check-in (main theme + 2 or 3 cues), full composition, and a final revision pass.
