A Lesson In Practicality - A Sanders Sides Audiobook

Project Overview

Disclaimer: I do not own the story or the animatic of A Lesson in Practicality, however, I have gotten permission from the author (thank you so much, Celery)

I’m going to keep this short and sweet, as I’m sure people know how all this works. But please keep in mind that in regards to gender and accent, I am open to any! Don’t worry about it too much, though the canon ones are recommended and preferred, you definitely still have a chance if you do not have both or either.

This will be an audiobook, meaning there will be a narrator, and voice actors for all the other characters. The last listing, which will be extras, also includes a main role that comes in later, I just don’t want to spoil the story for anyone who is going to read it now and hasn’t already. Though I was originally going to keep Patton for myself (Seeing as this project was attempted before and that was the role I was playing) I don't think my voice would fit in well with the wonderful auditions I've gotten so far, so I am opening it back up! Depending on how these auditions go, I may give myself a role, I may not, it all depends. But either way, thank you all

These characters are all from the Sanders Sides series on YouTube, which the original fiction is a fan-made work of.

YOU MUST:

  • Have read (at least some of) ALiP (link- https://archiveofourown.org/works/13307940/chapters/30457824 )
  • Have Discord, you don't need to put it in the audition if you don't want to, though
  • Be able to submit lines by a deadline
  • Stay committed as long as you can, recasting can be difficult
  • Have a decent mic, and very little to no background noise
  • Show emotion in your lines

Optional (and gives you a better chance at being cast):

  • Have read Probable Theorem, ALiP's sequel
Have watched the ALiP animatic by RobinsDraw (see video above)

  • New Role

There has been an incredible response to this casting call, and even though I was going to reserve the role of Patton for myself, I don't think my voice would fit in well with everyone else's, so I have decided to open the role of Patton! thank you again for the interest!

Roman is an eccentric, dramatic member of the household with the power to manipulate electricity. He is often sarcastic, yet does have a softer side. He has a bold voice, and generally isn’t too serious.

  • (Scoffing, lazing about and calling to a leaving roommate) It’s a waste of wine if you don’t actually drink it!

  • (Making things up, covering for a mistake) AH! Uh, it seems... Our remote is haunted Patton!

  • (With his classic, dramatic flair) Here I though I was the misunderstood outcast, but we’ve turned this apartment building into a secret hideout!

Logical, sharp minded and speaks in a generally monotone voice, though there is obviously some emotion. He is observant and extremely intelligent.

  • (Informative) I believe I have what is called Psychokinesis but yes, I can also read minds.

  • Yes, Patton, you ‘did good’, although it would be ‘I did well’. I’m rather impressed, I don’t know when I would have noticed.

  • (Slightly annoyed) We do not live in a house Patton. Whatever it is, can it not wait for dinner?

A sarcastic, anxious emo with purple hair. The younger of the roommates, with the ability to freeze time.

  • Psychokinesis. He can move things without touching them. (Becoming embarrassed) I read comic books okay...

  • Look, I had a rough day okay, can we talk about this later, after I freak out?

  • (Slightly anxious) You were afraid of scaring us because it’s weird. You din’t know why or how but you can do this... thing. And you’re too scared to tell anyone.

The fun-loving father figure of the group! He's very much the dad friend and has a soft spot for animals. He's a sweet and caring member of the bunch with a playful voice and a lot of character in his words.

  • (caught off guard) Virgil! You're... home...early. How wonderful! There's a totally understandable and not totally bizarre reason as to why there's two of me!

  • (In a burst of excitement) HOUSE MEETING! Quick, everyone! Living room, now! We're having a house meeting.

  • (Ranting a little) he was worried about something that happened at work and I got him to talk about it! I mentioned me feeling the emotions of the copies I make-- gosh I need a better word for them..."

The narrator will have a lot of lines to read, so I will need someone committed and willing to put in the work. Please use some expression while reading.

  • It was normal, considering they were all living in the city and short on cash. They all answered the ad in search of roommates, the apartment was conveniently located for all of them as if the universe had handpicked them the perfect place.

  • Virgil took a step back towards the front door, watching the man argue with his reflection.

  • Roman spun around and marched to his room, leaving a smirking Patton to replace the batteries, thinking about his dramatic roommate, and the two seemingly normal ones... Unless...

This person will play an array of characters, along with a lead character later on. The gender and age are based off that character, but you will need to play characters such as a Grandma, a female coworker, a father etc.

  • (In casual conversation, male, 20s) Yeah, but being normal is boring. Besides, then I wouldn't get to know you guys better.

  • (Nice old lady) I know I'm old but no need to walk like I do. I know your long legs can make you walk faster than this.

  • (Coworker, 20s, jokingly) You can laugh? Thought you were only capable of brooding
